We are going to switch the kids food again. My mom says that Nutro is getting a bit expensive for us right now.We can afford it,but we're buying fairly expensive house in march and we dont want to be spending alot of money for a while and they seem to be going through it really fast. My parents know about the good and bad foods, but we want something that is a little more affordable for us right now. If Kodies allergies act up again then we will put them back on Nutro.
Is Authority food O.K?The ingredients arent too bad,but they are better than some, like pedigree, purina, etc.
Heres a link to it..
Authority (http://www.petsmart.com/global/browse_category.jsp?ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374 302023689&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302025907&bmUID=1138916305447)
and which formula would you recommend?Right now they're on lamb and rice.

Have you narrowed down what Kodie is allergic too? It's probably corn, which is in this food.

There are lots of things in the food I don't like and I would say it's quality is comparable to Purina products.

If you do decide to go with this food, stick with Lamb & Rice. Maybe Kodie has a meat allergy? But then again that formula has chicken digest and animal fat in it so it's not much of an allergy formula.

Hrm. I was checking out all of the brands comparable to Nutro, and they really aren't much cheaper. Authority MIGHT be cheaper by about $0.25 per lb, but with all of that corn, you're going to need to feed more so it should even out.

I definitely suggest buying the biggest bags, because it is a lot cheaper by the lb the more food you buy. Get large, air-tight tupperware containers for like $5 from Wal*Mart and store the food in there. You can also add veggies and meats (that won't flare up Kodie's allergies) so that you don't need to feed as much kibble... and, the added foods are good for them! You can add canned green beans instead of a portion of kibble, which are really cheap, into their food and it'll also keep them at optimum weight. Buy from Petco if you can, because if you buy 10 bags of Nutro over time, you get one bag free. Ordering online from Pet food specialty websites can also save money.

ok thankyou.I've also heard feed stores sell Nutro less than Petsmart does?
Kodies allergies were bad when he was on Pedigree,so it could possibly be corn. Its cleared up almost 100% since we've switched him to nutro. I'll talk to my mom about it.I really want them to stick to Nutro, but its my parents desicion to pay for it,not me.I would pay for it if i had a job.I really hope we dont switch, they're doing so good on it.

Here is a store locater for Nutro:
http://www.nutroproducts.com/dealerslocate.html

Find stores in your area and then call around to get prices. :) That should help you out a lot!

In my experience, Nutro's prices are comparible to those of IAMs. But its higher quality food AND you feed less so you really either end up paying the same, or less in the long run.

thankyou :) .I dont plan on feeding Iams at all.And we do have a container for their food.
My dad doesnt have a problem paying for it,its mostly my mom... :( ugh. I'll talk to her about it.There is a Tractor Supply Co near us so maybe we can go see if its any cheaper or not.

Well I just compared Nutro's prices to IAMs because everyone seems to think that IAMs is affordable, so if IAMs is affordable then $1 - $2 more a bag for Nutro should be affordable too, you know?

oh i know.I understood what you said,sorry :o
I just talked to my mom about it and she said we'll keep them on it.Mostly because of Kodies allergies, and they seem more active with this food than when they were on Pedigree. And were going to go check out a couple feed stores near us. :) Thankyou for your opinions.I really do appreciate it
