Prayers for my Father in law.
he has stage 3 non hodgkins lymphoma of the B cells I believe (?)
He went through all his treatments... had his last one yesterday. they told him at his second last treatment that he was in full remission. GOOD NEWS
however they also told him that he likely wasn't going to start feeling any better than what he was feeling (which was not good) and they told him that with this type of cancer... they can only do the treatments so many times until it becomes unresponsive. So if it comes back they MIGHT be able to put it in remission again but if it comes back again after that there is not much they can do.
the ONLY way that they might be able to cure it is with a bone marrow transplant and they have already said that he is not healthy enough for that... he would likely die from the procedure.
So I ask for your prayers for his continued recovery. I know Brian is not ready to lose his father or hannah's grandfather.

Bobcat is home from the hospital and doing well. Pepper is curled up under his chin and Cammie is in his lap. :D
Prayers and more prayers that all continues to go well. How could he miss with all of the wonderful 24/7 nurses he has to watch over him?

I asked my friend Bruce today if there was anything I could do for him, and he said, "Pray for my soul."
A friend of many years, not often seen...a relationship hard to define, except perhaps a good and gentle friendship, more loving than either of us knew.
A few years back, I wasn't sure if he wanted to date me or just be good friends. I asked him that today - he figured a bit of both. With Bruce, friends and honest love were the same.
His son Kevin phoned me on Tuesday. Bruce had been diagnosed with terminal cancer a month earlier, after having abdominal pains for some time. Kevin asked his dad if there was anyone he wanted to be notified, and Bruce told him to let me know.
Bruce said he was sorry for not getting in touch in recent months, but that he hadn't felt well. He is surrounded by wonderful children and their children. The visit Tuesday was good; he was jaundiced, but in full possession of his mind and humour! He was looking forward to all the kids Trick or Treating Thursday night - children of the families who were patients in the cancer ward - and he enjoyed it immensely I am told.
Today I went to the hospice. He sleeps with his eyes open - that looked particularly weird, his breathing somewhere between a snore and a dying rasp. It was easy for me to talk to him, to tell Kevin about unanswered questions.
I had given Kevin a hug; his eyes were red-rimmed through the whole time I was there. I had been in his shoes. Told him he was a good son. And Bruce knew he had great kids...even his ex was in tears on Tuesday.
Then, shortly before I was psyching myself to leave - he was hard to awake, but I knew I wouldn't see him again, likely - he woke up. He had woken briefly before I arrived, and Kevin had told him I was on my way. He was hard to wake up - but when he did wake again, and his face lit up and he smiled when he saw me, I just lost it. I just sobbed as if my heart would break, and Bruce was so concerned that I was upset...gave myself a big nosebleed at the same time.
He was still all there in brain and personality. There wasn't much to leave unsaid, and we said it all. He was comfy, no pain at all...and was completely accepting of where he was at, having a very strong Christian faith. Every time I thought it was time for me to leave, grief heaved up in me again. "I can't leave til you go back to sleep," I told him, "but don't do it on my account." Bruce smiled.
Kevin's sister and brother-in-law arrived. In the way grieving families can, they had some laughs going on. It felt safer to leave. I told Bruce I was going, gave him a kiss on the forehead, then on the lips. He kissed back - a simple, warm love kiss...the only one we'd ever exchanged. I told him I loved him, and he said the same.
This sounds like it is all about me. I am sorry. I can't stop crying right now.
It is about the loss of a wonderful man named Bruce Thomas. If you would help me honour his request - pray for his soul.
Thank you.

Unka Pat's back from the Cath Lab ... Good & Bad news ...
GOOD News is he did OK and will probably be discharged tonight (Monday), after
a consult with a heart Surgeon.
BAD News is that he needs to see the Surgeon. :(
Cath showed "calcification" in the heart - he's a candidate for a Heart By-pass job.
It's not an urgent situation - but needs to be taken care of.
THANKS for today's Prayers - but I think we'll need some more in the future.

Prayers going out to Christy and Brian.
After so much time apart, and Brian in such different surroundings, I can imagine they would seem like strangers to each other, a bit. Plus, all the excitement of being reunited - not to mention expectations ('it will be great when we are all together again' sort of thing') - once the adrenaline wears off, it's back to reality. Not fun.
Also, what Brian has seen in Iraq could be affecting him. I hope the Army has services for reunited couples. I am sure it's a tough readjustment for everyone.

First, my friend Bruce who I posted about in #1761 passed away peacefully on Saturday. Thanks to all who prayed and sent good thoughts for him and his family.
Second, I called several people I had not seen in years who had known Bruce. He used to come to the regular Tuesday night jams, so I phoned the hostess Beth - only to find that their dear daughter, who had been treated for epilepsy all her life and even had surgery, had had a seizure Nov 1 while taking a bath - and drowned. She would have been 18 on Dec 18.
She and her present husband, and the daughter's dad, are in horrible shock right now, just staggering emotionally through each day. PLEASE lots of prayers and good thoughts for them and the brothers and sisters.
Lastly....this is so very small, very small....as I move forward in my new job, I am scared, and hope the work starts coming in soon. I have a plan to support me for a couple of months, but it does mean going in the hole. Given my ADD that has cost me many office jobs (this one isn't) and can present a challenge, I just pray that this time things work a lot better for not only me, but my colleagues and clients.
Thank you.

I'm sorry about your friend, Candace, but at least he's at peace now. And for the family of the young girl who drowned, they surely have my condolences and prayers. It must hurt you to see them not doing well and it must be confusing for Jasmine and Dominic. This war has been hell on everyone - and Brian has been where hell lives and he has come home physically injured and certainly mentally injured as well. It will be a while before a new normal
can take place for them. I hope they don't give up too soon.

I know I don't post all that often, but I do check in at least once every day and see what is happening with my PT family and friends. And I do pray for everyone and their loved ones.
Now I am asking for some well wishes for my dad... and me.
Dad found out a few years ago that he has prostrate cancer. He had radiation treatment, and was in remission. Well, his PSA level has come back very high again, and today, he is going in to have some biopsies taken. He is very negative about the whole thing, and down in the dumps. My mom is trying to keep his spirits up. She keeps telling him that she beat colon cancer and he has beaten prostrate cancer in the past. Please pray that the doctors find what they need to remove and he is safe and at home soon. (It is being done outpatient.) My folks are in Florida, and my sisters and I are in Indiana, so they are there all alone. They will be home December 13 for the family Christmas, which is at my house this year!
And if you could, please pray for me as I am having surgery on Wednesday. I am having my right thumb/wrist joint rebuilt due to arthritis. I had my left one done a few years ago, and despite being in a cast for a month, I did fine. My challenge with this one is that I am so right hand dominant. But I have been practicing using my left hand. The worst is trying to style my hair! My folks wish they could be here for me, but they have their own things that they are dealing with and they will be here in a few weeks anyway.
Thank you for your prayers. They are truly appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear that your dad is negative about his situation but it's certainly understandable. I know someone who has had prostrate cancer for years and years and is doing great, so your dad can as well but as we know, a good attitude helps immensely. This is certainly stressful on you w/your upcoming surgery, so we'll keep the prayers going for all of you. Keep the faythe.

I would like to ask for prayers for my Grandma. She is my only living grandparent and is having a really rough time of it.
She has been battling a bout of severe sciatica recently.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sciatica
She had a lumbar epidural injection 2 weeks ago and the inflammation that was on the side that hurt - moved to the OTHER side WORSE than before. So she saw the dr again and he scheduled her for another shot on Thursday the 20th. My dad had the same thing by the same dr about 2 months ago and is getting along fine. My grandma is now having terribly severe pain across the lower tail bone. Excrutiating.
She's a pretty tough lady. Doesn't show pain. She has broken her knee caps 3 times- one of them twice. It is coming up on another anniversery of my grandpa's Stroke (b/n Christmas and New Year's) and his death, (beginning of the December following the stroke.) So I think she's getting depressed over that - and that she can't do what she wants to do. She is a pretty active 87 year old - she goes to water aerobics 3 times a week before all this started, and has went to water aerobics for about 14 years. She was crying and sobbing to my mom that she wasn't going to make it to Christmas to see everyone again. My mom kept telling her to not worry about it.
Can I please have prayers for pain relief and for the ease of her spirit/depression?
Thank you.

I always pray for our birds before they arrive and always while they are here. The Lord tells us that we ought to pray for one another and so, my prayer request is that you would lift up each of our birds and to the trine and ask the Lord for His Spirit to embrace them and fill them with peace, for some do come in very troubled and filled with aggression, to keep me healthy and strong and not to become discouraged when bites can be too hard to handle and also for me to keep my patience under His full control. Oh yes, keep prices reasonable for food and supplies we need to keep the birds healthy for they are going thru the roof.
I hope to be faithful to keeping all the animals on Pet Talk of The Day in my daily prayers.

My aunt went to the urgent care last night complaining of acid reflux. They hooked her up to an ekg machine and said she was in the midst of a heart attack. They took her from her small town in NE Texas to a slightly less small town, Nacogdoches. She is in ICU. They put in 2 stents today and she may need more tomorrow. My cousin said her prognosis is good, my granny says it isn't. So I don't know for sure what's going on.
This is my Aunt Joanne. My late mom's older sister. Please say a prayer that she is okay.

Richard, words fail me sometimes. I send my most heartfelt prayers and some ((hugs)) across the miles. My mom will be there to greet yours, and help her get into a little bit of mischief along the way.
~~
My Aunt Joanne had 2 stents put in on Sunday, 1 Monday and will have another put in on Tuesday. They are doing them sporadically because her heart did receive damage during the heart attack. Her husband, my uncle Kenneth, says that had she not gone to the little hospital in their small town when she did, she would not be here now. God was watching over her.
Dec. 1st was my grandma's birthday. She said it was surely a good day, as her daughter has survived a heart attack and surgery for having stents put in twice. My grandma isn't usually an optimist, so I have to hand it to her. She's taking this well. Aunt Jo isn't out of the woods yet, but I am hoping that she improves.
My grandma had 4 children. This makes the 3rd one who's had a heart attack. My uncle who had a heart attack took really good care of himself - so it appears this is genetic.

Right now her and my dad are sharing a cup of coffee and eating a Mr and Mrs apple.
LOL and a cookie or two.
I would buy some huge apples and my mom would call them Mr and Mrs Apples.
They were way too big for them to eat alone, so they would share it- A Mr. and Mrs. Apple!
My dad would sit in his spot next to the door with a cup and a stack of cookies. He'd lean on the table with his elbow on top, pluck a cookie from the stack, hold it up to his face and twirl it around before me ate it.
I would laugh at this because he would inspect it with a critical eye before he even took his first bite.
"Is this cookie worth my time?";)

Let's remember our good friends, Pam and Robyn, right now, too. Pam's mother, Robyn's grandmother, Margaret, passed away on Friday. Her funeral was yesterday. She lived to the glorious age of 99 years old. Just knowing her daughter and granddaughter, I feel that this was a magnificent mother.
And I would also ask that you please remember my husband and his family in your prayers. My MIL has terminal cancer that is inoperable. And our nephew is facing some tough times because of a bad decision earlier this year. Our hope is that some good is going to come from this situation and we already see God at work, performing a miracle, in our little family.
Prayers for all in need.
Logan
It seems everyone needs some extra prayers right now - I suppose it is just the times that we are living in.
Pam, you have my sorrow over the loss of your Mother. No matter what age - losing a mother is one of the most difficult of all.
Logan, you have my prayers for your MIL and your entire family.

I'm so sorry , Pam and Robyn and families. Please accept my condolences. I'll pray that God gives you all the strength you need during this period of sorrow and grief.
I know this magnificant lady is sadly missed.

Thank you Logan for your kind remarks. When someone is 99 it is sort of inevitable that they don't have much time left. On the other hand, it is actually because they have been around so long that one just starts to feel that they will always be there. We are doing OK and are praying for your situations too Logan.
Richard and I have noted that we have a couple of things in common - we are both Scorpios and now we have a shared loss. Richard keep those memories of the good times rolling around in your head. Your mom wouldn't want it any other way. (((hugs)))

All tests indicate that I have a tumor on one of my parathyroid glands. This causes very high calcium levels, which can cause headaches (as one symptom) and my dr. says he's seen people be diagnosed as clinically crazy from the high calcium levels (where their calcium levels were lower than mine!). PRAYERS please for Barbara. She has beat back every new spread of cancer from her original diagnosis of breast cancer over six years ago. She and her husband moved to a gorgeous house in southern Alberta, but she had to move back to Calgary in August, as another "lesion" had shown up.
Her husband sends out updates every so often, and this just arrived in my e-mail box, which says it all:
Dear friends and family,
This is another quick update on Barbara and I apologise for the lack of information over the last couple of months. After Barbara moved back to Calgary in late August she experienced a slow but steady decline in her condition which appeared to accelerate in late October at which time I moved back to Calgary to be with her at Mark, Martina and Shimon’s house. Two weeks ago her condition seriously worsened just two days before she was to start a new round of therapy involving Herceptin and Methotrexate, and she had to be transported to the Emergency Department of the Foothills Hospital. She was eventually transferred to the Palliative Care Unit of the Tom Baker Cancer unit (unit 47) where she still is. Tests have shown that the brain tumour is still the same size that it was 9 months ago and that there is no new uptake anywhere else, but she has continued to decline and is now completely unable to walk and finds talking difficult. These symptoms became more acute four days ago following an MRI which lasted about an hour and which appears to have traumatized her. The only physical change observed from the MRI was a very local spread of the cancer from the left cerebellum into the adjacent Meninges, but there be other non-detectable sites. We have a meeting with the oncologists and the rest of the medical team tomorrow to review the situation and perhaps we shall find out if and when she might be able to start treatment. At the moment Barbara is really not up to receiving visitors and if you plan to come to the hospital I should be grateful if you could phone me first to ascertain the current situation (either at Mark’s or my cell phone xxx-xxx-xxxx I am at the hospital all day). Barbara has greatly appreciated and has benefited from all your messages and visits up to this time and we hope that she will again be able to receive visitors again soon. She is still the indomitable Barbara that we all know and love and is still fighting hard, but after six and a half years and three previous surmounted metastases I fear that she is weakening, but we all still have great hope.
With love and best wishes,
Peter
Barbara and Peter attended church regularly where I go. They were well-loved. Barbara was nonchalant about arriving with her bald head - she might wear a light hat in summer.
One year she was participating in the Run for Breast Cancer, though she planned only to walk. She announced this from the pulpit, and cheerfully asked for donations, saying, "I know I've got you all in a half-Nelson standing up here with my bald head!" Of course all who could donated. How could we not? :)
She has taken good vitamins, done her homework, kept healthy and positive about all. It's often suggested to people who will lose all their hair due to chemo or other treatments that they have their hair all cut off before, as it gives one a sense of control over that, at least.
Barbara told me that she and Peter had candles and soft music - and he cut her hair off for her. I get a bit of LES thinking of how loving a moment that was for both.
Barbara has always been an inspiration to me. The night before her mastectomy, she held a "Bye Bye Boob" party. :D That inspired me to have a Bye Bye Period party last year before my hysterectomy.
She and Peter need huge PT Prayers, they can work miracles.
THANK YOU.

Peter just phoned me (Barbara's husband). He said they met with the oncologist yesterday - and he has the MRI scans right in front of him.
The brain tumour which appeared over a year ago and resisted treatment has metastesized badly...there is no point in any treatment.
Barbara will not have visitors until she is in hospice - right now, Peter says, "she alternates between sleeping and sobbing". She is very distressed after the great and upward fight she has been engaged in these last 6 1/2 years.

Still waiting for the referral - found out it needs to be for an endocrinologist before it can be for a surgeon. Have to follow all the correct procedures.
My neurologist gave me some medicine that should help block the calcium and prevent it from going up any higher.
Hubby is frightened, as I begged him to just let me die this morning, the pain in my head is so bad, every day.

Most typical pain meds they'd give me will cause rebound migraines, which would just make the situation worse. Even something simple like ibuprofen can cause (and does in my case) rebound headaches.
My insurance will only cover 4 imitrex a month. I have that many migraines a week most of the time. I'm on a preventative, I have had MRI's and CT scans to make sure nothing else is going on, all we found is the calcium being high. I just have to wait until I can see the endocrinologist.

I usually do not ask for prayers because I'm not very religious. But the person I am asking for is.
Bruce's mom slipped at church today and broke her hip. :( She is 71 years old, is a cancer survivor, has a pace-maker and is on blood thinners. (Wow, she sounds like she is in horrible health.) But she is actually a very physical/athletic person. She could out hike me anyday!!
I am sure she will be fine, but now she will be laid up for the holidays. We have Xmas eve at her house.
We are not sure if she needs surgery yet, she is still at the hospital. We are over an hour away so we are just waiting to hear how things are going.
If you could spare a moment to think of her and hope that she will have a quick recovery, the family would appreciate it.
And I hold everyone requiring it in my thoughts as well.
ETA: Crystal, Candace has a good point. When I went to the doctor for headaches she gave me samples of Imitrex. Its worth a shot to try. I am sorry you are going through this. :(

I have a big one, but I've seen PT prayers work miracles. My father and my brother had a construction business that has just closed. They owe staggering amounts of money to their creditors, which they definitely do not have. The calls and letters have escalated. The business owns a building which, if it would sell, would provide the funds to settle many of the debts. The real estate market stinks to say the least. So, everyone, could you pray that someone would want to buy the building. ...
I have GOOD NEWS- a potential buyer came to look at the building yesterday and came back today - so we are hoping. Please pray that either this might be "the one" or the financial situation might ease up somehow. ...
Well, there's an offer. It's not the offer we wanted, but it's an offer. The bad news is all the fees and taxes that will be owed. Grrrrrr! ...
Update to the update. Because of zoning issues, the transaction needs to past first the Planning and Zoning Commission and then the full city council. It's in a residential neighborhood but the business was there before the zoning ordinance took effect. Please keep praying. ...
The P&Z commissioner came in and took a look around. There's nothing that isn't fixable. The buyer is still interested. Thank you for your prayers about that. ...
Planning and Zoning Commission meets tomorrow evening -- please pray it will go through.
Also ... the agency job I've had since mid-April ended today. Please pray that I'll land the next position before too long.
Thanks,
Elyse

Spent last night in the ER trying to get rid of a migraine. Imitrex didn't work, so they had to give me pain meds and anti-nausea meds. I came home and slept all day, literally. I woke up at 5:07 pm. These are disruptive to my life and my work. I can't wait to get into the endocrinologist to see if having the parathyroid gland tumor removed helps, or if they even think it's related.
Learned tonight that the hyperparathyroidism can cause irreversible kidney damage, too.

you can do the same with your imitrex.

imitrex i hear is a once daily pill...you need it once daily to work.

I heard some scary things about hip replacement surgery. Things that I don't even want to repeat and I have NOT told Bruce. So please, if anyone reads this, keep his mother in your thoughts today.
I also hope she will be home for Christmas Eve.
Thank you! :)

How is Bruce's mom doing? If she has remained active at her age, then that is definitely a plus for her. The not so good results usually occur when people are in poor physical condition to start with, or they just give up.
I fractured my hip last February. I did not have a hip replacement - just a huge rod put in the top portion of my femur. It was 4 days in the hospital, a week in the rehab center, and then home in a wheel chair. I had home therapy for about a month until I could get out on my own with a walker, then outpatient therapy for about 3 months, and now I'm pretty much back to normal. I don't even use my cane anymore! :) I'm a little shorter and walk with a small limp - but other than that and being extra achey in the cold weather - I'm back to normal (whatever that is!). It was a long haul and not easy by any means, but not nearly as bad as I had heard (even from my doctor). Hopefully she'll do as well as I did! :)

Prayers for Taz Zoee for Bruce's mom.
Scooter's Mom, my mom has had benign tumors taken off her parathyroid gland twice. The first one she had the tumor and part of the gland removed. She is going for a biopsy in January because her calcium level is above 11 again. But apart from that she has done very well.

Thanks for that. It's very unnerving!
The endocrinologist is booking into APRIL right now. But since my neurologist is related to him by marriage, I might be able to get in a little sooner. I'm hoping anyway! I tried all day yesterday to make an appointment, but we kept missing each other (hard for me to take calls at work...)

Thank you for asking. We went to visit her last night. She is doing okay. She's very cranky. Complains about the hospital food, LOL. And she is in a LOT of pain too. I guess today she had a mishap with her IV line and bled out a lot. :( One step forward, two steps back.
And she is not going to be home for Christmas either. :( She thought she might get out of the hospital on Monday (now I don't know with what happened today), and then it's a week in the rehab home. So we will be celebrating Christmas with her later.
This has really brought her down. I expected a more positive attitude from her but I'm not seeing it. Although she did mention being able to hike again evenutally, so that's a positive thing.
Thank you, cassiesmom, for the prayers. I think that is what is keeping her going.
Crystal, I am still keeping you in my thoughts and hope you feel better soon. Also anyone else that needs them.

There's something about getting older that makes us cranky, not all the time of course, but we hate the thought of it. It's embarrassing to not be able to do some of the things that we used to do and then have to ask for help yet. I'm still young but once in a while I have to ask for help, such as driving at night; I just can't see well at night any more. So that could be why Bruce's mom isn't as positive as she could be. Then she caught herself and mentioned hiking again. She's going to be alright. Whether your celebrate Christmas now or later, the important thing is that you'll be celebrating. :)

I just found out one of my coworkers from the hospital lost her baby. I have no details but she only had about 6-10 weeks left in the pregnancy.
Please send up prayers for her and her family and other children.
Please continue to keep this family in your prayers.
My friend's brother in law (her husband's brother) and his wife also had a stillborn baby on Dec 10th. It would have been the third child for both sets of parents.
Its rather eerie this happened to them as well so far along in the pregnancy.
I know my friend didn't do an autopsy on Sidney but not sure about the other family. So as far as I know they don't know why it happened.
Thank you.

Although, last night she bled out from her incision and had to have a blood transfusion. So she won't be released today. :( She is not happy with the staff at this hospital, and it's supposed to be a good hospital. Stanford!

Well Bruce's mom was released from the hospital today and went to a temporary nursing facility. So we will be going there (in 10 minutes) to visit. Bruce's brother reserved a room for a couple hours where we can have dinner and visit. Only problem is Bruce's nephew is sick so him and his mom won't be joining us. :(
Merry Christmas everyone!! :D

Dear Family and Friends,
It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Barbara peacefully died at 0220 this morning. I was with her at the end holding her hand, and have just helped staff members wash her: she asked me to do this a number of years ago and I found that doing so gave me great comfort. We have shared with you her amazing journey during the last six and a half years and in many ways we had come to expect yet another miraculous recovery, but it was not to be and she has finally found rest. We shall start to make funeral arrangements today and I shall let you all know them when they are finalized. One again I have to thank you all for your support throughout Barbara’s journey and particularly for the amazing number of visits to see Barbara and for all your messages of support that we have received during the last month. There is much that I could and will say but now is not the time. Barbara has left a significant number of poems that she has written over the last 20 years and I should like to share two that are poignantly apt for this time although she wrote them in January 1995. They are the second and third poems of a longer piece entitled “Triptych for Myself”
With all my love,
Peter
SPIRAL
So cool, so calm is the geological,
Biological analysis
Of life and death.
So, I’m a mere blip in the scheme of things!
There’s nothing in the future for me?
The world is as unaffected by me
As it was before my first infant yell?
Can you not see the stinging tears
The wrenching fear of the death times?
If you had ever learned to love,
You’d know what you could lose.
Your glib logic negates my thinning skin.
I see the signs of change
As clear as puberty ever was.
Yes, you have it all wrapped up,
Tidy, swept, arranged,
But my will, my desire is to
Rage against the dying of the light.
I knock all your logic
In the scatter of my anger.
Can you not hear Lear rail
Against the contentious storm,
The pelting rain
Of assured destiny?
NEXUS
Did you forget how love feels?
A dawning, a disbelief
That this is for you;
You surface and dive again
Into trembling anticipation.
Can you not remember how
You walked alone and
Learned the shape and sound
Of every tree?
How you loved the tallest two,
How you whispered secrets
And felt their wisdom?
That was for always,
Love is for always;
The line of smiles is no empty metaphor.
It is how the trees might remember you
After you are gone.
Be still
Take comfort
And rage no more

An acquaintance of mine from work fell off of a 2nd story balcony New Years Eve and landed on his head. He has major head trauma but miraculously no other injuries to the rest of his body. They had to remove a piece of skull to accomodate the swelling and he has been in an induced coma since it happened. He will be wearing a helmet for awhile and I believe they will be inserting a replacement piece to his skull down the road. They are hoping to be able to wake him up sometime this week. He is a young guy and I pray that he can make it thru this and recover with minimal if any permanent brain damage. Please keep him, his family and friends in your prayers.

My granny can't make it to the funeral services, because they are too far away and granny says she is "too crippled" to go. A prayer for my friend, Wendy. Her father passed away, suddenly, this morning of congestive heart failure. They thought he had the flu, he was on meds for that, and he went to bed last night, and never woke up this am. He was a good man, although ornery, but a doting father and recently a grandpa.
He was taken way too suddenly.

God forgive me for being a jerk, but I have nothing but dislike in my heart for him. A prayer for him to maybe see the 'light' or not to be such and Arse Hat might help?

I would really appreciate some famous Pet Talk prayers for my older brother.
After so many tests we can't even count them - he will be having heart surgery tomorrow at Scripps Institute. Offering some prayers for a good outcome of the surgery would be deeply appreciated.
And you can be sure that I always include all Pet Talk requests for prayers in my nightly prayers or randomly through out a day as I think of them.
Hugs to all!!

Your brother is on my prayer list, Gini. I know that his surgery is today, so a special candle is being lit for him and you. Please update when you're able, especially w/his first name.

I have an interview tomorrow for a job that I'm pretty well qualified for and it is only 4 miles from my house. I would LOVE to work at this facility because it has a good reputation. Please pray that either it will go well, or if not, that something else will come my way. But this would be sweet indeed.
Thank you all very much,
Elyse
Hope your interview went well, Elyse!! Did you hear anything about the job yet? Hope you got it, or something else that will be a good match for you!
No news yet from the first interview. I have an interview with another hospital on Tuesday morning and one with a managed care company Wednesday afternoon.

Thank you for your prayers about that. ...
Planning and Zoning Commission meets tomorrow evening -- please pray it will go through. ...
It passed the P&Z meeting, 5 to 2. City council is apparently just a formality to act on the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission. ...
Annnnnnnd... it was on the January City Council meeting agenda, but because the paperwork was submitted and processed in time, it has been moved up to the December meeting! That means the money arrives a month earlier than expected and some of the creditors get paid ... whew! Thank you PT!
And one final update: The City Council acted on the favorable recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission. So, after the New Year, some of the creditors get paid and some of the evil calls to my dad and my brother will go away. There are no words to tell you what a HUGE relief this is. Thank you PT!
They were supposed to close on the building yesterday. Didn't happen because of missing documents that the business' attorney failed to realize were supposed to have been submitted to the city at the time of the P&Z meeting. Closing is up in the air.

I would really appreciate some famous Pet Talk prayers for my older brother.
After so many tests we can't even count them - he will be having heart surgery tomorrow at Scripps Institute. Offering some prayers for a good outcome of the surgery would be deeply appreciated. I called the hospital tonight and got patched right through to Gini's brother. He sounded good in spite of what he just went through. Didn't keep him very long and he said that a stent was put in to keep the arteries open. Potential "set free" date is Monday. Thanks God!!!
I'm sorry I don't post here much but rest assured that when I go to bed at night and just before relaxing enough to sleep, I say a prayer to God and ask him to watch over all the Pet Talkers and their pets who need comfort and healing.

Miz Joan brought Unka Pat HOME this afternoon about 3:30 pm -
They got up the basement steps (with an assist from Son-In-Law Sam) and
Pat headed for the BigBed to rest up after the trip.
We decided to not tell Cali & Molly that Dad was Home (yet) ...
two *bouncy* Mutts on a sore chest might not be exactly what the White Coat ordered.
We'll take 'em up for a visit in a day or so; and maybe let Cali stay home;
Molly will probably stay here with Cinder, SmokeMutt, and Mini~Mutt till
Pat's feeling a lot stronger.
THANKS for the PT Prayers and Good Thoughts for Pat!!

First of all - prayers for all of you who have asked for your jobs or your own health or the health of relatives.
Looks like Unka Pat and my brother got sprung on the same day. We were in the car and ready to drive home finally at 2 pm. Traffic was very cooperative and we made it home in just under two hours.
My brother is feeling as good as can be expected - he had eleven stents placed in his artery. He still has fluid retention and shortness of breath.
He also has a tray filled with medication that he will be required to take - betcha Unka Pat could compare notes.
Thank you Thank you for your prayers - I am sure they are working for my brother and Unka Pat too.

I would like to thank you for all of those wonderful Pet Talk prayers that were offered for my brother.
I was in San Diego for a week to be with him in the hospital and then brought him home. He is doing better each day - but his energy level is very low.
All of my current cooking is for a heart healthy diet - eliminating ALL salt,
fats and even dairy products. It has been a challenge and an education in a brief period of time - but I am getting there.
He had eleven stents implanted - which is unheard of - so we are taking each day at a time - patiently and gently.

Boomersmom, my thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Yesterday was a very bad day .....
It started with me falling down my basement steps, then my grandmother had a minor stroke at church they kept her sedated most of the day yesterday so we don't know how her mental status is for right now. My husbands grandmother who is in the hospital with a brokem femur will be getting a pace maker this week and my Godfather who was 49 died of a massive heart attack. This all happened on the 3rd anniversary of the murder of my office mananger and her 6 year old daughter. Her husband shot them while they were sleeping.
I'm very glad yesterday is over and I pray for a better today.

My sister is going to have a mastectomy done later on this month. In light of what happened with my mom, I am glad she is taking this in stride and has a great attitude for what will happen in the future.
I don't ask for much, just some good thoughts for her and her kids in the near future.
PT always comes through, so i really appreciate the kind vibes!:D
You got it, RICHARD! The Fur Posse and I are on it!

For those who've been following my daily migraines - which have been happening for months now - I go tomorrow to see the endocrinologist for test results. Every doc I have (working with 4 now) feels sure it's hyperparathyroidism, and getting it under control will get the headaches under control. I hope for SOME news tomorrow.
I slept from 4:50 pm last night until 6:15 pm tonight, and could easily go back to sleep. And that is just with my regular medication. I ask for prayers so I can just function again. I've been moved to a lesser important job at work already... and now I'm finding myself dozing off at my desk multiple times a day. Please, if anyone has a prayer to spare... I'm desperate.

I do pray that you get permanent relief. This has certainly been a trial for you. I've never had a migraine but I used to get bad headaches w/my periods and it was difficult to function even then. I can't imagine what you've been going through.

All the docs seem to think of we take care of the hyper parathyroidism, the headaches will improve. Off to see the surgeon for that, finally, on the 24th. Things are moving... slowly but surely.

Today someone a number of us know as a cheerful, giving guy may be taking the stand as the defense lawyer has his day in court.
I won't provide links - but late in 2007, he was driving a truck that drove crazily and way too fast for a few minutes, and collided with the back of a car stopped at a red light. A man, his fiance, his two kids and their 16 month old, were all killed.
The horror the witnesses saw, the tragedy - the families of the victims - it's unimaginable what happened.
For those of us that know the driver, we not only were horrified by the accident, but shocked that someone we knew and liked was at the wheel.
Leaving the question of drinking aside - which is denied by defense counsel and our friend - the question of why was he driving like a deranged maniac is on the minds of all sides in this.
This fellow had a totally clean record, was a professional driver, the company's best (said his boss).
Please pray that justice is truly done, and for the families of both sides. Until someone you know is accused of something like this, you don't see how THEIR family suffers also. His wife couldn't go out shopping for groceries as people would harrass her and get in her face.
Prayers please for justice all around, and especially truth. And healing for all.
Thanks.

My aunt has sepsis. She is currently in the ICU, and her kidneys are failing.
They can't figure out what caused the infection, and are trying to figure that out now..
From what I've been told, it doesn't look very good right now.. It's going to take a lot of praying to turn this around for the better..
This is my favorite aunt and I haven't seen her since Thanksgiving.
I'm trying to figure out a way to get there to go see her.. They live in San Antonio, almost 6 hours away..
If anyone would like to add her to their prayer list at church, that would very much be appreciated.. Her name is Paula.

I am afraid I am slipping into a severe depression. This is the first time I have actually admitted it. I am feeling totally desperate about the fact that I have not found a job and can't pay my bills. My unemployment runs out end of May and I am so scared, and I'm barely surviving on that. I can barely by food, and I can't afford my medication. Sometimes, I have to decide what I need - food, or medication. I am so scared... I don't know what to do. I have very little motivation and I basically feel housebound because I can't afford to do anything - not even drive because I'm scared to run out of gas in my car. Tilly and Nutmeg are still ok, as I always make sure I get food for them to eat. I just want to find a job and I am noticing that even the jobs that I could apply for are dwindling. I am not sleeping, I'm not eating properly.. I feel like my life is in shambles.

I wish I could wave a magic wand and produce a job for everyone who needs one but since that isn't feasible, I'll add my prayers to your situation. Try to hold on a little longer for Tilly and Nutmeg if for no other reason. I do know exactly how you're feeling. I was in the same situation years ago and I took to my bed out of fear, which of course, solved nothing. (((HUGS))) Keep the faythe.

Nomilynn...first, see your doctor or go to ER.
Often your doctor will have free samples of medication given to him/her by the drug company reps.
Apply for social services, even to cover your meds. Use the food bank. If you have a church community, reach out to them. Even the distress centre has resources for you to call.
Nutmeg and Tilly need their mommie!
HUGS and prayers that things improve soon with a job - but take care of yourself first!

Nomi,
An extra set of vibes sent out your way.
My sis is having her surgery on Tuesday. She found a wonderful surgeon, after one from UCLA refused to even touch her during the exam. Some good vibes and thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
