Medusa I'm sorry to hear about your son, I pray he will be doing better soon.

Twisterdog, I'm also sorry to hear about your your dad passing away & son. I know how hard it must be for him, being so young and all. I hope his surgery goes well. You and your family will be in my prayers.

I talked to Robin yesterday and she is in her words "not well":( The way she talks really upset me. She really feels her life isn't worth living any more.
Not a good thing to talk to her before I went to work.I'm not sure if I'm more mad or sad for her:o

Thank you all for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers. She could use as many as she can get.

that is so very sad that Robin feels not worthy enough to live.
I am also sorry for not realizing that this was her problem.
I thought she was physically abused, glad I was told otherwise.sorry for the misunderstanding.

i hope she realizes how important she is in this world.
we all are...each and every one of us.
we all have different purposes for being here.if she could just find something to look forward to after she gets healed...it would be a wonderful postive outlook for her.something she could think about doing for others after she gets herself healed.

I checked this thread earlier this morning and just couldn't respond. How very sad. Twisterdog, I will pray for your son, he is so young to go through this alone. Anna, please tell Robin that we all love her and need to have her take care of herself; prayers continuing for Robin.

Anna, I hope Robin is still in the hospital and getting care!

Again, Twisterdog, I hope someone turns up that is a real friend to your son; and I hope he knows that you are there with him, even not in person.

Mary, haven't been to your thread about your son yet, but prayers that all turns out well!

I'm worried about my job for one. I just missed two days of work. I don't have a lot of sick time but it should be considered vacation time before it's "unpaid."

I spent all day yesterday (Tuesday) at the ER (7am until past 7pm) having tests run. I have kidney stones on my left side - they're small though. While I was there, I had another "episode" where my heart hurt like crazy. The nurse happened to be in and she hooked me up to monitors and an ekg immediately and everything seemed to be normal... just like last time though, only the nitro under my tongue made it go away.

In December I started the paperwork for FMLA-intermittent to allow me 1-2 days per month for my illness (migraines and this heart thing) to be out. HR said it was approved, then nothing ever happened. My manager was leaving so I asked if they needed anything else - HR said they never got the final form. So my manager sent it in 2 weeks ago on his final day as my manager. I'm afraid his carelessness is going to cost me my job. I do have all the emails between me and HR though.

Sorry this got so long. Could you all say a prayer that my job stays safe, my health improves and I do not have a repeat of last year, and that overall I feel better?

Hi Friends and Family,

This Tuesday, February 19th is Bob's surgery date.

He will have a left mandibular resection and removal of 4 metastatic nodes in his neck, a full fibular flap transplant to his jaw (bone, muscles, vascular structures) and facial reconstruction. His doctor told us it would take 7 doctors a total of 12 hours to complete the surgery.

He'll be in University of Miami Hospital for an estimated 7-10 days, 2 of those in the ICU. As soon as he gets out of the unit, they'll have him up and walking.

Prayers, healing vibes and well-wishes are greatly appreciated.

I'll keep you posted...

On April 25, 2006, my sister died of aspirational pneumonia, which is what her MS eventually caused. She had had a few close calls but was intubated in time. This last time, she was intubated on a Friday night, spent Saturday on life support, Sunday was breathing on her own, and went back to the long-term facility on Monday.

My mom got a call from the RN on Tuesday morning as Darcia started to fail. Her body just couldn't fight any more. She died about 6 pm that day. She was 48 years old.

Tomorrow, February 18, Darcia would have been 50. I talked with my mom tonight, and she started to cry.

I miss my sister - but nothing compares to the grief of a mom who lost her baby girl, the youngest.

Please send prayers and good thoughts her way.

Thank you so much.

Candice-I am saying VERY strong prayers your way and extra for you Dear Mom.This is very very sad.
I too lost my baby brother John a few months before the 9/11 attack from a motorcycle accident that wasn't his fault.
My mom died of diebetes and heart troubles 2 years after his death. She would of lived if she hadn't given up life because of the loss she carried for her baby son 29 years old(Her favorite kid by the way).
(He was my favorite in the family too..we were extreemly close)
So...believe me...your mom's grief I DO understand.any parent losing their kid...dies inside after.Your mom needs daily support to go on.
Phone calls...jokes to make her laugh.Or bring up some VERY funny happy memorys of your sister...of all of you growing up together...anything to make her remember all the fun you guys all had.
not the bad stuff...just the good.or make fun of the bad stuff in a funny way by saying...what a crab apple someone else was in the family...anything to make her laugh.
It's hard to remember those fun days in such a sad state.
Prayers strong...positive thoughts your mom's way.

Catfamily - thank you so much.

My mom is fortunate in that she is resilient. She used to exercise - power walks, the Y - to help her with the stress of dealing with my sister's health, even after Darcia had gone into long-term care.

A few months after Darcia died, she kind of faded out of that - yet one day, gave herself a kick in the butt (her expression) and got back into keeping fit.

Now, two years later, she has started volunteering with the city Literacy group, and is going for training - she is getting back with people.

Days like tomorrow will be hard - I called her back this evening and we arranged to have our dinner tomorrow night.

With all her resilience, she is still a mom, and that was still her baby.

I am so sorry for your loss of your brother...and can understand how your mom 'gave up' even though she loved all her kids.

{{{{hugs}}}} to you.

Thanks cadice.
My mom loved all of us but he was the baby and the circumstances behind what was going on at the time of her being pregnant with him was a story in itself. My exstepdad was such a creep...his dad.
But she ended up loving him so VERY much after he was born and he accually gave her her life back when he was born.
So i understand why he was her favorite.
And what a cutey pie he was.

Keep strong and tell your mom the same.I hope she'll get through your sister's b'day ok tomorrow ok. :(

I know it's real hard for me...on a daily basis.with the loss of my only 2 members of my family that were decent human beings.
But my cats help. And Mike has been great.

Prayers for everyone who needs them here.
Your all in them.

Thanks everyone. The AC officer didn't show up last night. He left a message saying he needs to get a statement from me. I've already got one typed out. The day shift officer won't take it. I just talked to him so I have to wait til the right officer is on duty again. I left a message for him saying he can come out any time tonight or call me and I"ll come into his office. I have nothing to hide(except a couple cats since I have too many of them according to the AC bylaw!) and he or any of his collegueges are welcome on my property anytime.

Mac was loose running beside the team on Monday morning, something he has done for four years without any problems. On this day, if it could go wrong, it did. Mac was not being aggressive, he was playing(tail up, playbowing ect), but his behavior was towards a small child and therefore completely unacceptable. I'm still trying to figure out why the mother grabbed her dog(unsuccessfully, I might add as the dog got into the team and Tehya has a puncture wound on her leg from him) yet she left her toddler son standing alone on the far side of the trail with eight large dogs she's never seen before approaching him. No one besides Tehya was injured. The child was scared but physically unharmed. However, Mac's behavior under our local AC bylaw is enough to designate him a dangerous dog.

I know dogs who have done much worse, including intentionally inflicting injury, and they were given second chances. I am hoping that my history with animal control helps and that Mac will be given a reprieve as well. We've never even had a simple noise complaint before; several of the dogs came from the AC pound, including Tehya and Heyoka; Stuart has worked with them frequently. We're properly liscenced and have the support of my immediate neighbors and my vet.

I am fully prepared to accept responsibility for his behavior. He was way out of line and as his owner, that's my fault. I'll pay whatever fine they want to dish out, implement whatever handling and confinement rules they want for Mac. He's never getting off-leash again in any case. I don't believe Mac is dangerous and I will fight that designation. However, if it comes right down to it, I'll do whatever they want as long as they don't want to euthanize him.

Sounds to me like BOTH the humans had a "dog running loose" ...
But YOUR'S wanted to *play* ...
HER'S jumped into your CONFINED team and picked a fight - injuring YOUR CONFINED dog.

Two wrongs may not make it right; but YOU should not be the one to shoulder
any more blame, nor consequences to your dog (Mac) - HE wasn't the aggressor!

Sure hope the Animal Control Folks see this the same way I do!
Stick to the Facts in your statement - and don't "offer" to accept punishment -
make THEM think of that.

Maybe we better call God again ...

Loose dogs are perfectly legal here. That's not the issue at all. We could both be fined for out of control loose dogs. They are supposed to be under verbal control if not leashed. Neither of them was listening worth a hoot at the time!

The problem is that Mac's behavior was directed at a child, which is much more serious legally than if he had just got into it with her dog.

Catty1

I understand the concern about the child - do you have a witness who can say Mac was playing? He'd have to have made threatening sounds and movements, right?

And what about Tehya's injury? Does that count for nothing, legally?

There was no one else there--just her, me and her kids. It's actually the first time in over 2 years of running on Mondays(i don't work on Mondays ever) that we've ever run into anyone on that trail. I've never seen her out walking before. She's not one of the regulars that we pass frequently.

I didn't take Tehya to the vet. I had everything I needed at home to take care of her injury. It's not major and she seems to be healing up nicely. There could be a fine for an out of control dog and allowing a dog to bite another dog for what happened to Tehya, but I suspect all the focus will be on Mac.

The AC officer is coming out at 7pm PST tonight. Both Mac and Tehya will be introduced to him.

I hope everything will go fine and I hope your past history with animal control - plus the fact that you've used that trail literally for years and never passed other users - plus the fact that Mac has run alongside the team, also, literally, for years and never had even one problem, will all go in your favor. Fingers crossed and God's been dialed... elyse

The AC guy left a little while ago. He was very nice. He said he'd never had anyone provide him a written statement. I typed one out yesterday. That threw him a bit.

There is apparently a bite mark on the kid's buttock. The skin isn't broken, more like a bruise shaped like teeth. I didn't see Mac do that, but I can't deny he might have.

This guy has no authority to make a final decision. He just collects the information. That kinda works in my favor, or it could anyway. The guy who makes the final decision knows us well on a personal level.

I asked what he thought might happen. He initially said "not much" due to the fact that Mac has no history with AC. There's never been a complaint of any kind about any of my dogs before this. He said he would consider this a fairly minor incident in the grand scheme of things, but that a dangerous dog designation is possible. He did say that he could not see a euthansia order for this. Much of what happens depends on what the victim wants. If they are satisfied with a fine or other more minor punishment, then that's what the AC department will do.

I have to file a seperate complaint about her dog, if I want to pursue that. I'm not going to. That's just going to make things worse.

It will likely be late next week before any decision is reached.

How is Tehya feeling now?

I don't think she's worked up at all. Probably calmer than I would be if the situation was reversed! It wasn't even her that called AC. It was a friend of her husband's who made the first report. Her husband is out of town until Friday night. She left me a very nice message tonight, perfectly calm, said she just wanted to know how things were going for me since "the incident". I'm going to call her back tomorrow. I'd really like her to come over here and meet Mac when he's acting like Mac!

Tehya is fine. Her foot is still a little swollen, but she's walking normally, harassing Chum and basically acting like she always does. She has enjoyed a couple nights of big bed snuggles!

He's been working two jobs. One in Detroit (substance abuse clinic) and one in Lansing (Cooley Library).

The job he got is here:
University Club of Michigan State University (http://www.universityclubofmsu.org) in their Fitness Center.

He can now quit the Detroit job and not live with his parents part of the week. :p

It's only a part time job so he'll keep the Cooley job.

He'll work Cooley Monday and Tuesday and at the Fitness Center Wed - Friday. It's a 1 p.m. - 9 p.m. shift, so I'll be able to see him in the mornings. :)

He loves working in Gyms/Health Clubs so this is right up his alley. There is room for advancement so despite taking a tiny hit financially right now (he has to start at the bottom and work his way up), it brings him to Lansing full time which will hopefully help heal our very rocky relationship.

Oh, Tamara, I worried about you all night and this morning. What is a dangerous dog designation?

A dangerous dog designation means that Mac would have serious restrictions on his freedom. He could not be off my property unless he's on a five foot leash and muzzled.(I think he could still pull if he was wearing a basket muzzle) I would need to put signs at the entrance to my property warning that dangerous dog lives here. I might need to put a roof on one of the smaller pens. The rest of my fences already exceed the requirements for dangerous dog containment. I would have to register him with the city and permanently ID him. They want a tattoo, but I think his microchip might qualify. AC can check on him any time they want. If they find that I'm not meeting the requirements of containing a dangerous dog, if Mac is found loose off my property or if there is a second offence, they can immediately seize and euthanize him.

I'm sending thoughts and prayers out to everybody mentioned.

I don't ever ask for prayers from my PT family but I'm going to need some of those powerful prayers soon. Next Friday, I go in for my next knee surgery. The doctor is saying there is a good possibility of an infection present, in addition to the failed knee replacement. If there is an infection, I'll need two more surgeries and my recovery will take months. This will most likely result in me losing my job, among many other things.

I could use some PT prayer power. I just hope and pray that I only need one surgery and I can then be on the road to recovery and get my life back as I knew it. I'm pretty worried about it but anxious to get the show on the road. Being confined to the house almost exclusively for two months has been no fun. However, I never knew I could handle daily boredom so well. Patience is golden, I've learned :)

Thanks in advance.

The head constable, Dave, from AC just called me. He knows me a bit from my former life as a child protection worker. In his former life, he was a youth support worker who I hired to work with some the kids on my caseload. Dave had talked to the officer who was here yesterday and has read the file. He said he was calling to put my mind at ease as he knew I was worried that they would order Mac euthanized. He says the absolute worst case scenerio is a dangerous dog designation and that will only happen if the kid's parents push for it. Otherwise, he said a fine is likely all that will happen as we have no history of complaints.

I'm very relieved. I burst into tears when he said there was no chance they would order Mac's death. I don't believe Mac is dangerous, but if that's the decision, I'll live with it.

Dear ones, would you say a prayer for my friend Mary. My family has a friend that used to have her own cake decorating business, and Mary is her daughter. She's married and has school-age kids -- I think either two or three. Before I knew her she had surgery and radiation for a brain tumor. Well, around Thanksgiving she began having episodes of dizziness. Her initial scans at that time appeared negative but the dizziness has not resolved. She had more tests that show the tumor has returned. Mary has been referred to a neuro-oncologist who's new to the area, plus there are new treatments that were not available at the time she had her surgery and radiation. I believe she has seen the oncologist for her first visit but I'm not sure. So if you could keep our Mary in your prayers, that would be grand.

Thank you,
Elyse

Not knowing the full story, it's hard to make suggestions;
BUT a strong complaint to the facility management is in order!

There are a LOT of special "monitors" that can be used to monitor a patient's vital signs 24/7 -
I wore a Heart Monitor every minute I was in the Hospital ... a lil battery operated gizmo
carried in a pocket or on a belt, connected to ME with stick-on patches.
It continuously sent my vitals into "Headquarters" at the nurses' station.
They have similar set-ups for nursing home residents.

So tonight I was talking with my mom then all of a sudden, she said she had to go to the hospital, and something happened... so I found out that Papa went down, everything, heart rate, breathing, etc. and had a blood clot in his heart, so they ran a lot of tests on him, and he was responsive to all. He is currently sleeping; and they will find out more in the morning. They transported him out of ICU today AND now tonight, he is back in the ICU.

Well, I found out that Papa is doing better, they will figure out what is wrong and what exactly happened last night. He was in bed, joking with my dad about OSU losing to Wisconsin last night.. :)

SO I found out this also... that 2 weeks ago Papa went to the foot doctor and they said his toe that he had surgery on, it wasn't infected, which they couldnt have been wronger about! Then apparently it got really swollen and tender and Uncle Al took him to the hospital and they said it was VERY, VERY infected, and that's what caused him to go to ICU. So, it's called septic shock which means the infection gets in your blood and causes the organs to shut down!

My cousin just called me saying that the doctors said that they think they need to move him to a different hospital to do a test and check for blockage in his arteries of his heart... because of what happened last night. So.. TOMORROW, they will be doing a heart cauterization. (sp?)

GOSH. I don't know much more upset I can get over this.

Thanks guys for your support... this is really rough on me..

Thank you,
Elyse
Quick update. Confirmatory test was positive; it's a brain tumor. She'll have her first appointment with the neuro-oncologist Wednesday.

Elyse, poor Mary. I'm so sorry. This has to be very scary for everyone involved. Thanks for asking. I'm doing okay and staying as positive as possible. I just keep looking forward to getting this thing over with. I know there is a light at the end of this tunnel.

Dear ones, I'm sorry to come to you again so soon. But I received some unexpected news this morning. We've had a wonderful, dynamic director of children's ministry at my church. However, she was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer and had been in experimental treatment for a couple months for ovarian cancer (which is known to develop in those who have had breast cancer). She died last night. This request has two parts. Thank God for all of the lives Vickie has touched during her work with the kids. I don't have kids but she has always been a key part of our family Christmas Eve service that I play for, so that's how I know her. At the end, for the closing prayer she always has the kids singing Happy Birthday to Jesus. Never a dry eye in the house. She's one of those people that it's a privilege just to know. But for her husband and kids, too- one daughter and one son and I believe they are both in college. Apparently the experimental treatment was not going as well as we had hoped. I'm sure she's rejoicing in heaven this morning. I can just picture her and St. Peter at the pearly gates -- he probably wasn't ready for all her energy :)

Thank you again,
Elyse

I wanted to add a very sweet man that I've actually met before. He's the Chief Meteorologist of our local News station, Dick Fletcher. He had a stroke on Monday and from what my neighbor said he does not sound to good (she works for the News station.)

Please keep him in your thoughts - the news certainly isn't and wouldn't be the same without him.

prayers for my uncle Ted please-
he found out he was a diabetic late this summer, had a sore that just would not heal - a couple weeks ago - he underwent a procedure to put a vacuum in place to get rid of the infection and encourage new growth around the area of the sore.
then about a week later - he underwent a major surgery of bypassing his arteries of his lower legs due to poor circulation. (he has suffered from blood clots since his 20's - come to find out his circulation to his feet was about nil)
they had to go in and open him up from sternum to groin - move all the innards around - bypass the arteries - put everything back and sew him back up! HE was getting around pretty well, but I just found out from my mom he spent the nite in the ER with KIDNEY STONES! :(

Poor Uncle Ted! He just can't get a break!

I hope they could do an ultrasound on the stones and get them broken up. That is terribly painful!

Staci - some docs say a good fish oil Omega product helps with circulation and keeping blood vessels clear. I wonder if they would help your uncle.

Prayers and I hope he gets to recover from everything now.

The FML-Intermittent was approved. They backdated it to January!

Before Christmas, the edge of my right shoulder, right under the bones that lead to my arm, started hurting. I assumed I slept weird. Well it never went away. For the last few weeks, My entire shoulder feels like it is on fire if I move it. I cannot lean over to pick anything up, I cannot carry anything. I can barely turn the faucet on for a shower, and can't raise that arm without severe pain in order to wash my hair. Of course, hubby still wants me to vacuum, do dishes, feed/water the critters, etc. I can barely type. I paid a massage therapist (hate doing that) and it did nothing to alleviate the pain. Percocet does nothing. I'm at my wits end. It's just 1 thing after another. So ready to just give up. Life for those around me would be so much easier.

Please say a word or two that this gets fixed...
Thanks, Crystal

Crystal, I think Hubby needs a smack up the side of the head, and you need to draw some boundaries while you are unwell.

Does he really 'want' you to do all this housework, or are you doing it without mentioning the pain you are in? See about having a professional cleaner come in once a week - because you HURT too much.

If you want to give up on something, give up on accepting less than the best for yourself.

1 - 2 days FMLA per MONTH???? How about some longer-term disability?

And how about some short-term counselling for yourself? You have migraines, now your arm is killing you, and that takes a toll on your emotions.

Don't give up; get angry and push for what YOU need. You come first.

HUGS!

I won't go into some of hubby's issues here, it's the prayer thread, not the whine thread... lets just say he's not the happiest camper in the woods and is pretty sarcastic and nasty a good 90% of the time. I get about 10% of good mood from him.

I do have a dr. appointment Friday afternoon to see what's going on with my shoulder. I hope it's nothing major. My doctor deals in family and sports medicine, so hopefully he'll have a really good idea of what is going on.

Thanks ya'll.

In response to this even though I said I wouldn't whine...

He refuses to vacuum even though I've begged him every weekend for 4 weekends. He keeps saying, "if I have time" but doesn't have time because sports are on or he's too involved in his stupid video games. He's almost 40 (okay 38 in Sept) I think it's time he grow up and stop playing all the time and realize life is NOT all about fun and games, but work too.

A few years back I had surgery on my hand and it was in a cast for a bit of time. He wouldn't do a single dish - so I had to put on huge gloves and wrap a bag around my arm so I could do them. Yep, with my hand in a cast. It's hard to do dishes with 1 hand.

The doc says the problem with my shoulder actually started last June when I had a biopsy done on a lump in my right breast. I started favoring that arm because lifting things became harder and I was afraid I'd do damage to the stitches or the surgery site. So I'm been unconsiously favoring it for all this time. It just got to the point to where the shoulder said, "Hey, I can't move like I used to, I really want to" I feel slightly better today, except for the FLU I've had for 2 days. Thanks for all the prayers.

For Butch.

He's in Iraq right now, and has been since August of '07, but he's supposed to be getting sent home on April 2nd.

He's been emailing me a lot lately and they have just been getting shot at and mortared all day, for two days. :( He said that a group of people died about a half hour ahead of where he was. He's so shaken. And he keeps saying, "The way this is going, I'm wondering if I'll even make it home."

I'm seriously fearing PTSD when he comes home.

Please let him be okay, both emotionally and physically.

Friday's visit to the doctor resulted in a decrease in amount of Prednisone. I am to cut the dose to 2.5 mg for a week-10 days and quit altogether. Blood tests show no Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Just to wrap up on Mac....An AC officer was here tonight. Gave me a ticket for 200 dollars, for allowing my dog to bite a person. As soon as I pay the ticket, Mac is deemed a dangerous dog. He gave me a notice about that and all the restrictions it will place on Mac. He told me to hold off on paying for a few days as he's been told his boss is going to vary a few of the conditions--like needing a pen with a roof and hopefully find a way to allow Mac to still run in the team. I'd really like to get out of the tattooing requirement. The by-law says he has to have his ear or flank tattooed within 15 days of the designation. He's already microchipped, but I"m not sure that will be good enough.

It stays with him for life, unless we move outside the city limits. Technically we are inside the city by a few hundred metres. It's a city bylaw so outside of the limits, it doesn't apply.

The father came home. He is much more aggressive. He firmly believes Mac should be put down. I have spoken to the Mom several times and to the Dad once. I have no doubt that the push for a dangerous dog designation is coming from him.

AC here doesn't usually issue anything until they the agreement of the "victim". I assume that the officer told them about the fine and dd and they agreed. The only way for them to have more input now would be if I don't pay the ticket and take the matter to court. Frankly, I don't want to do that. Not only would it cost me thousands, but it could blow up in my face. The judge would have the authority to revoke any accomodations made by AC and order Mac's death. I'll take muzzled, on a one metre leash and all the other requirements over dead.

I'll be speaking to the manager of the by-law department this week. I have ten days to voluntarily pay the fine. I'm hoping we can work out some kind of comprimise before that.

Because the victim was a very young child who is unable to speak for himself, the opinions of both parents are considered in the determination. Doesn't matter if he was there or not. His child was involved so they have to get his input.

No chance at rezoning. I am already given a special permit to keep my dogs at all. If I was buying my property today, I could only have four dogs there, six if all my neighbors agreed. I was there before that rule came into effect so my dogs are grandfathered. I can not move them off my property within the city. I have to leave the city if I want to move and keep my dogs. Another musher can not buy my property.

Our plan is to move outside the city eventually, but the market is insane here right now. It is extremely difficult to find any property with some acreage that is dog team friendly(even outside the city limits, many areas ban dog teams) and that has a reasonable purchase price. A half million dollar mortgage is just not going to happen!

I don't want to have anyone else contact the department right now. If I end up in court, I will be looking for letters ect for support!

He knows us, but I wrote like he had never heard of me before. I gave him all of Mac's history, hoping his lousy puppyhood might pull some heartstrings!

I described my fencing, kennel set-up, escape precautions. Told him that Mac is already kept in a secure manner, that he's neutered, permanently id'ed and that I have plenty of liability insurance(all things that a dangerous dog designation requires). Explained why I let Mac run loose to start with(to distract loose dogs from jumping my team). That he's never been a problem in any way before and that he will never be off-leash again. Explained that he is high energy and needs an outlet; has no ability to wander when he's in harness and asked that he be allowed to continue his life as a working dog.

I reititerated that Mac was not acting aggressively; that he was playing. And I invited him to the house to meet Mac in his normal environment displaying his normal behavior, anytime he wants to come by. I don't have anything to hide.

He emailed me this morning saying that he had forwarded the information to the investigating officer(who I think was on my side) and his supervisor(the second in command of AC) for their input and a response. So, he didn't outright say NO which gives me some hope that we can reach an agreement that works for everyone.

Keep your paws crossed!

Wonderful news! Papa is coming home tomorrow, after being in and out of the hospital so many times in the past month. :) Today I went to visit him and he looks really great, just very tired because he hasn't had so much energy to walk around from being in bed for so long. I'm just happy he will be able to be home and this time, it will be a lot more careful. His heart is not so strong, but he will be required to have oxygen to help him breathe until his heart gets a lot better. However he is in good spirits. :) Thank you.

I agree with catty1
But adding,
your husband should be helping you.you should tell him not to play anymore video games until your better.
Please...stand up for yourself and get stern...VERY stern with your husband
to help you at ALL times.
This is like a test for when you guys get older and need each other for health help.
If he won't help now....he may not do it later either.Be stern.
And Stop the cleaning.Don't do a thing around the house.
Let it get built up until he realizes you cannot do everything anymore.
It just may work and you can get your much needed rest.Otherwise you'll just get sick again.

Hi guys. I'm home! Got home around 10:30 this morning. From the surgeon's description of what she found, I definitely did the right thing. She said the disks were in horrible shape, with the lower one being almost completely gone. And the bone spurs were really mashing my nerves, thus the horrible pain. I'm going to hurt for a while just because of the surgery, but when I heal up, I'm going to be so much better. I'll probably have some discomfort for at least a few days, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I got a shower this afternoon and it felt so good! The incision is about 3 inches long and is at the base of my neck, in the front. The stitches are inside and the wound is glued together.

Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers. I felt very calm going in and I know it was because I had so many people praying for me. I'll "see" you soon.

Please know that I send hugs and prayers to everyone here, although I don't always add a reply. As much as I hate to make a lot of my personal problems known, 'cause they never seem to end these days, I'm a bit overwhelmed and could use some support.

Since my mom died, I've become closer to her oldest sister who just turned 90 but acts 70! She had a stroke in Dec. and was in rehabs on and off. She recently needed psychiatric care as she was diagones with delusional psychosis. She's on meds that make her loopy . The stroke affected her speech and cognizant skills so she's unable to take direction or understand a lot. I have been seeing her at the nursing home every day, feeding her, doing her wash. She fell and broke her wrist and I just got a call that she fell out of bed, thankfully onto a rubber mat. Her hubby is 94 and spent last week in the hospital. Because of his age, he cannot have surgery (not life threatening) but now needs a cane. So I am running back and forth to both of them almost every day. They are each others Powerof Attorney, as they left out her son. Both may need to be in nursing homes permanently so their finances will have to be figured out. My uncle is asking me since I've had the misery of doing it 2x before.

I'm more frustrated than meaning to complain. It's just overwhelming. I also need MORE spine surgery which I'm postponing right now. There's a a chance, from what I've been told, than I may need a hip replacement, sooner than later! When it rains it pours! Please keep me in your thoughts that I can handle these situations properly. Thanks all!

LES right now. Thanks you all SO much. I hadn't expected so many responses. Thank you Toots for your beautiful prayer for me.

Saturday (4/12) morning at 6a, my phone rings. I panicked and recognized the caller. My uncle Carl. Crap. He peed blood and panicked. John and I rushed to his house (no, he will not call 911 without me there). I kept him on the phone until I arrived to make sure he wasn't faint or in pain etc. Thankfully, 4 hours in ER, it was determined to be a UTI (caused my a botched, painful catherization from last week). He was sent home with antibiotics. I made him a big breakfast and John helped him to bed. I called and he's fine.

The reason I do Ann's wash is because she has a zillion (no kidding) pieces of clothes all over. She's a fashion diva. All her stuff is linen, silk, cashmere etc. I found 1 sweatshirt and wound up giving her some of my old ones. I finally invaded her place and picked out clothes she won't remember or ever wear again. I don't want her stuff mixed in with others, plus it's all done in hot water.I bought her some cheap sweats and pants the other day. And I was asked to buy her shoes that fit her now swollen feet. I got running shoes, 2 sizes up and the PT girl was very thankful. However, tonight, I found them in a plastic bag in her closet. Seems she had an "accident" which also included the ins and outs of her new Champion pink and white sneakers (t.y. payless). Looks like John has a huge cleaning job ahead of him tomorrow! :p See? i DO draw the line! :D

Thanks for asking Phred..I have to see a Vocational Specialist (suit also includes loss of income) since I only have 1/2 or less use of my hand. It's the neighbor's insurance company holding stuff up. My super (and soon to be wealthy) lawyer is ready to roll I can't believe it's 2 years as of April 5. Still an innocent victim.

Prayers needed for Kia (and me).

Long story short...

1) A chihuahua picked a fight with Kia
2) The chihuahua lost

I offered to pay the vet bills, but the owner ignored me and left. His owner wasn't very happy with me and I'm nervous someone will talk her into sueing.

I don't blame her for being upset, but seeing as her dog was lunging at every dog at the party, I'm upset she didn't just excuse herself and leave.

We found 5 scratches (from teeth or nails, I'm not sure) on the chihuahua. Kia got nipped on the chin. I don't think anyone will require stitches, but I know how wounds can go unnoticed sometimes. :(

:(

How come the Big Dawg always gets blamed for being the aggressor when it's often
NOT the Big Dawg who picked the fight?

I'd suggest you keep an accurate list of the adults who witnessed the altercation.
If you're good friends with one or two of those witnesses, you might ask them to write out
a Statement of what they saw - while it's all fresh in their minds.

A "follow up call" to the Lil Nipper's Mom might help to calm the waters, and you could
repeat your offer to cover any medical bills.

I wouldn't worry too much - after all was said and done, the Lil Snot did manage
to walk away - not too much the worse for wear.

When you feel up to it, try to find out more about her kind of cancer...she will need a lot of support, as will you. A lot of hospitals have groups for cancer survivors and their families. It helps to know you and your mom are not alone.

(And she's thought he was goofing off on taking his allergy medicine and is KICKING herself over this misunderstanding.) At this point he's having a lot of trouble breathing.

Thank you for your support, it's comforting/helping him, his baby sister, mom, and step-dad during a frightening time.

One of my riding buddies died last week (not in a riding accident) and his family and friends are sorely hurting from the loss of a really genuine, good person. Prayers going out to them....

Apparently they attempted surgery today on an outpatient basis. Took a biopsy which is being tested, but it was too extensive/bleeding uncontrolled to complete the surgery today. They're in the process of rescheduling until after his high school graduation (mid-June?) and will perform the surgery in a hospital.

Thank you for your prayers and concern.
