I'm here, Slick and you are right Christmas has been a very hard and sad time for me.

I don't think there will be any Christmas Miracles or prayers helping me out this year.

Maybe the miracle is that you are with us for this Christmas, and chances are great that next Christmas won't be so low for you. I can't imagine the depths of your pain, Robin. I can imagine that times will improve for you, somehow. Time, as ugly as it can be, marches on for all of us. Just get through the day. :(

I think we need to have a little prayer for Cori and her newborn. Hopefully baby is doing just fine, but just in case there are any more problems.... See thread: http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?t=106361

Lots and lots of prayers going out for everyone's requests.
Robin, I wish you PEACE. I know it seems like a nightmare that is never going to end, but life will get better. Don't give up before the miracle, it truly is darkest just before the dawn. :)
I just read the threads for Cori & Brynn, and for Lori Jordan, and pray they are home with their families soon.

2 praises!
1) a co-worker's daughter had her 3rd child by C-section yesterday - they knew in advance that it would be a C-section delivery... baby boy and mom are doing well!
2) quick update on my dad (78 years old, had heart bypass surgery Oct 24th - see #449) - he has more energy, and his cholesterol and blood pressure are good! He and my mom are going to visit my cousins in California in February. They live near a beautifully landscaped golf course. Dad's goal is to walk on the path that runs alongside the greens.

I have praises too- Tuesday, the worst case scenerio happened, and I ended up in the emergency room, and transfered to my doctors hospital. I ended up with and emergency surgery- going into it in critical condition. I came home today- as I am off the iv drugs, and have someone with me to help me, but mostly to sleep ( who can sleep in hospital mechanical beds? lol- ouch no laughing..) I am NOW DONE!

I would not compress it with a ace bandage- if its draining it needs to drain. Wrap it in gauze and watch how much it is bleeding and look for pus. You can put a little neosporan but really- the leg should be checked. I bet its a hair tag if its on the leg. What happens is that they get a rub like a scrap on the leg or paw- this folds over as the skin grows under it. We would slough the dead skin but we take showers daily etc- they do not.. Hottie has two on his leg- and they look like a tick too.. Attaching a photo.

Yea, my mom went out to the store to get gauze because she couldn't find any. His leg stopped bleeding mainly but just in case, my parents didn't want it on the carpet.

Mom fell again. Did about the same ting as last year, to the opposite shoulder, plus broke a bone in her foot. That and Dasher's behavior (http://www.petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=119466) to deal with. I'd had enough last year. Today was the first day of my vacation. Prayers for you, Borzoimom...I hope you can at least get some personal counselling, through your doctor, or through a church if you have one (or even if you don't).

As Dear Abby always said, even if your other half won't get counselling, make sure you do.

PRAYERS and a miracle needed for 9-month-old Larissa. She has a 2 1/2 year old sister and two loving parents.

She was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour just a few days before Christmas. FINALLY they did operate, and removed as much as they could...she was back home the following day, and very much herself.

Then a specialist came in from the east...they decided to try chemo on the rest of the tumour...they put in the shunt, and little Larissa hemorrhaged.

It looks bleak. PLEASE pray for the family - the mom is from Colombia, and her aunt was flown up to be with her (the mom's mom died years ago, and she is very close to her aunt). Her husband's family is there...they are all just waiting.

Larissa needs a miracle...and I hope and pray the good Lord sees fit to give her one.

Thank you, PT people.

Dad went in for laprasopic surgery but his galblader was really inflamed from a chronic problem so he was the 1 out of 500 surgeries where the surgion had rto open him up and do it the old fashioned way so he'll be in the hospital a couple more days but we saw him after and he's doing fine.

He said it was really inflamed and something about calium around it so scaring or more stones forming in there or something but obviously he's had a problem for a long time to get that bad but because it was that bad he couldn't see for laprascopic.

and for the bone marrow test. The doc said no signs of cancer but the fact he has the protein means each year that goes by means there's a 1% chance per year that it'll turn to cancer. So I suppose if the lives another 25(he's 68) years that's a 25% chance it might turn by then but each year is just 1% chance so with his age and all not a real worry but they will check him ever 6 months or so, but just a blood test to see if the protein rises.

Oh dear cassiesmom- I will put this in prayer. !

Update. I'm sorry this is late. My co-worker's dad went into hospice last week Wednesday and died last week Friday morning. My co-worker was relieved that her dad was out of pain. She was out the first part of this week. We were glad to have her back and she said she was glad to be with us again.

One more, a praise - I have a friend whose brother has leukemia and needs to have a stem cell transplant. My friend was tested and is a match to her brother, so she will be the donor probably in 4-8 weeks. He has to have more chemotherapy first. Her whole family is glad (and I am too) because they don't have to search for a donor.

Update on Larissa: The tumour, even though some was removed, is a very aggressive tentacle-type in her brain.

I talked to Greg (my priest) yesterday, and he said she is going to die. She is aware, not unconscious, and responds to her family's voices.

Prayers, please - for a miracle (that's what it would take). Prayers for love and peace for the family, and for Greg, who has two daughters of his own. This has been very tough on him and his wife, Kathleen.

Prayers again for Larissa - that she can go in peace and innocence.

BTW - Greg also presided at a memorial service yesterday, where I did some music. He raised the question that many ask - 'where is God in all this' - and said that God was present through all us people that came to support the family.

If love is God, and vice versa - God is in this prayer thread.

Thank you.

I do again... could you say a prayer for my supervisor, who has been having really bad backaches for maybe 3 or 4 weeks now. She saw the doctor yesterday, but I don't know what the outcome was. I've had back injuries twice (occupational hazard for nurses :) ), so I can relate to the frustration of never being truly pain-free.

Oh, by the way - dad was 4 months out from his heart surgery yesterday, he goes to cardiac rehab 3 times a week. He still can't walk very fast on the treadmill but he can walk for a little longer interval each time - his therapist bumps up the time on the treadmill by one minute or sometimes two. Yay!

One of my friends has a little boy named Griffin. He has been in and out of the hospital since he was born about a year ago. He has had a couple cardiac catheterizations, and been thru quite a lot for a little guy.
I got an email from her a week or so ago that said his blood pressures were elevated and he was going to the dr. I just got an email from a friend of her's that said Griffin was life-flighted to Children's hospital this afternoon and he would update us as he heard news.
Please wrap your prayers around this little boy and his family.
Thank you.

I got an email from the friend that sent out the alert - and they are running tests on his heart and it looks fine. They changed his blood pressure medicine earlier this week so they want to keep an eye on him. They thought he might have been dehydrated but apparently not now.
I'll update as I know more - and thank you for praying for him and continuing to do so.

I got an update from the mom - here is the c/p :
On Sunday morning we had to wake Griffin up because he was sleeping in so late and when we woke him up he was sweating and just not his perky self (like he is in the morning). We thought he felt cold so Brian took his temp and it was 91.1. Brought him to ambulatory care and his condition worsened as his lips starting turning blue and his arms and legs were purple. They then flew us to Childrens in Columbus as we were worried about his heart. He started to pink up on the way to the hospital as he got warmer. They did tests on his heart and they all came back normal. They said for someone to have a low temp there are usually 1 of 2 things...cold environment or infection. He had neither one of those so we really don't why this happened. They did run a few blood tests before we left the hospital and we won't get those results for a few days. A possibility is that Griffin is growing and developing fast and maybe something in his brain didn't fire right and it just forgot to tell him to stay warm. Either way we are going to worry and watch him like a hawk. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate it.

thanks everyone
Staci

I could use some prayers for Aaron's mom. She just had her 3rd heart surgery (replaced a valve) this past Wednesday, and she's not really coming around. She's still in ICU and is barely aware of what's going on. Her left side is twitching and numb, but the doctor didn't see any evidence of a stroke. :(
I feel so bad with everything that's going on with me and Aaron, and I really don't want him to have to lose his mom on top of it all. She was so positive going into this surgery in hopes of feeling better. She was also expecting her first grandchild (Aaron's sister is pregnant) which she was so excited about.

Please pray that she pulls through. I'm very scared for her. :(

And I have another one: Isabelle, (our family friend who has cancer), also needs PT prayers. She is going through chemo treatments, and has now lost all of her hair. I know she'll make it through this, she's a very strong person. (Oh, she is also the mother of the 3 kids going to Oregon with us.) Isabelle just needs some extra prayers. Thank you all very much.

I am sorry to be selfish...I would like a prayer or two. There's been changes at my job, I am adjusting to that...and have recently been requested to play funerals by people I know in my church (I play piano, write and sing), and that is fine.

This Saturday I play the whole service...for a 10-month-old baby, Larissa. Pray that I remember that it is about the family and community, not about me, and that I am a messenger, even if a vital one.

I don't want to fall apart when I am most needed.

(Plus...on Sunday, my sister would have been 49, she died of MS last year).

Thank you. :(

That's a very hard job.Doing Funerals.
I remeber at my little brother's memorial the girl who sang for it was my client(I use to cut hair for 27 years)and I didn't know that she was going to be there.
It surprised me but her voice REALLY surprised me.She sounded like an Angel and the tears kept flowing.I almost wish she'd stop.lol (I'm kidding...I Loved her being there and her voice accually helped and I think back on it a lot and smile)
Her voice was/is just the most beautiful voice I ever heard.
we were both surprised by this meeting as we only knew each other at the salon.
Good Luck at your job.
And I hope you're getting better with time after your sister's passing. It's very hard to lose a family member.Especially one that your close with.

Thank you all for your prayers...I got back from Larissa's service a couple of hours ago.

If such a sad occasion can go smoothly and well and lovingly, this one did.

Children were welcome to come - and their presence added innocence and even a sense of fun...who could not smile at one little boy, staring up at the pulpit where the two priests spoke, with wide eyes and mouth open? :)

Larissa's mother is from Colombia - and Jairo, a Protestant pastor from Colombia shared the service with the Anglican priest, Greg.

Jairo's wife, Diana and daughter Andrea sang a GORGEOUS version of the Lord's prayer, in Spanish and in harmony. Another singer, Joyce, also a professional in the past, sang - and I did the song I had written for Larissa. All worked out well - rich in language, music and love and all things beautiful.

The photos of Larissa were just stunning - so much presence in one so little! She was just BEAUTIFUL.

Now Tim and Marrgie and Danica move on...Danica is only 2, and will be a source of joy for her parents, I know. Both their families are far away, and their congregation is going to adopt them, I know. I am blessed to belong to such a wonderful group.

Thanks again, everyone.

Thank you so much everyone! I just can't seem to cope with my life. I don't understand at all and I can't seem to get over it. I came back home we were together for 3 weeks and he left again. I wish there was some way I could just fall out of love so easily. How do you do that after 27 years? I asked him and he just shrugged his shoulders. He told me not to even bother praying to God because it wasn't going to do any good. He is so messed up and suffering from depression so bad and I can't talk to him about it. I miss my husband. I miss my life. I can't seem to move on. I realized that it has been a little over 5 months since this all started and you would think that I would be better than what I am. I am just still so devastated and broken and wish I weren't here any more.

You might talk to your doctor for suggestions, or a local chapter of the Mental Health Association, or your clergy.

Prayers for my friend Irene please.

She has had her application for AISH (in Alberta - Assisted Income for the Severly Handicapped) under appeal since last July. The AISH people have lost her papers twice, and the hospital where she had her heart attack, and many 911 angina calls, and stents put in - NONE of these for the year they had records were sent to her GP OR the cardiologist.

She is barely 42...and also has type 2 diabetes. Right now, her medical welfare is $634 per month...and to rent a room is minimum $300 in the city, and there aren't many.

She can work...but without a place to live where she can hook up her computer (I bought one for her when she started the job), she can't do anything right now.

Please pray that things finally work out for her this week, and that she finds a wonderful place to live. She needs a break...and a patient shouldn't have to be the one running around asking records to be sent.

(anyone envy our "free" health care? Don't.)

so...prayers please.

I could sure use some PT prayers that my life gets easier and that my eye surgery on Monday is successful. This is the first procedure the U.C. doctors are trying to see if they can get my eyes stabilized enough so I can endure some sort of laser surgery in the near future. This procedure will hopefully give me a scar-free in my left eye and should help to improve my vision.

With all my getting ready to be down and out for about a week, we had a major power outage in my neighborhood this week that took down my home PC which means I can only access the Internet from work or if I choose to go to an Internet cafe, which I might do next week.

So I'm PC'less and it sure is getting me down. I'm not sure if my home PC can be fixed, but some technie friends are going to try this weekend. At least I know the hard drive is working as we were able to get it to boot to safe mode at least once after the power blast. The errors I'm getting indicate a BIOS file was corrupted somehow. I'm hoping it's a cheap and easy fix, but we'll see - hopefully literally!

So if I'm not online for a week or so, that's why. Thanks everyone - Georgia

Robilee...The best prayer I know is "Thy will, not mine, be done."

It can be a toughie, unless I trust my Creator and know that I and all those I care for are in His/Her hands.

He might have other ideas that will turn into things beyond your wildest dreams.

Or try this - pray for what you want, and end with, "if it is your will for me."

From my own experience, it is a relief when I can let go of my own wants and expectations.

Candace, I am trying so hard to do just that. I'm finding it very hard though. I don't want to let go. I don't want to lose hope. I even find myself angry at God sometimes, but I know that is not right. I keep telling myself over and over that I am a child of God and he has plans for me and a purpose. I just keep hoping and praying that those plans involve my husband. I know people think that I am pathetic because I can't get past this. I'm trying. I love him. I worry about him. I miss him so much.

Sorry, I shouldn't be posting this. I'm just rambling. Thanks for listening.

Thanks everyone!

Robilee, I always try and live by "Whatever happens is ment to happen" because I feel that it's true. You're right, god does have plans for you, and he will lead you on the right path when it comes along. Whoever thinks you are pathetic, should be ashamed of themselves. It's not pathetic to love someone and it's not pathetic to want to hold on to someone. Don't ever think PT is not here to listen, because we always are, and we always will be. :)

I would like to ask all of you to keep my family in mind at this time. We are definately getting our fair share of trials with our children. We are a mixed family, both parents being previously married with children from those relationships. We have custody of all the children. I know this is common in a lot of homes and the children decide to play the parents against each other. Well ours have now started to lying to get what they want from the other parent. The unfortunate thing is that the other parents encourage the lies by giving the children sympathy when it is quite obvious that the stories they are coming up with are untrue. If anyone reads this and knows of a forum that I can join to discuss these events with other families experiencing the same thing please let me know. Thanks. I will also pray for all of you out there requesting prayer(even those who haven't asked yet). May God Bless you all, and remember even in the darkest of times he is right there.

As far as the lying children,...that can do a number on the marriage as well.Plus put tons of tension in the house to affect everyone. The children will start fighting each other and then you'll have angry kids going out and maybe getting in trouble.
It would be very smart to get this straightened out as soon as possible for all your kids future and for your marriage to stay in tact.
Prayers for you and your family to overcome this.
I hope everything gets straightened out before it gets out of hand.[/QUOTE]

Thank you. It really is such a sad situation. Apparently his wife hadn't spoken but a handful of words to him since the time of the accident, b/c she blamed him. No one is entirely sure how he died, the public may never know as it should be. It is a very small town, and the tragedy of his sons' dying really hit the community very hard, this man was very well known and very well liked. I have heard a couple people say that he held all his emotions in after the accident and b/c he was such a great big man it was just too much for his heart to take. I strongly suspect he died of a broken heart. :(

This is the first time I have posted in this thread asking for prayers myself but now is the time. I would like some prayers for my brother. He made a very bad decision and is now in jail awaiting his sentencing which is on my birthday (June 1st). His sentence could be 20 years. I just found out about this Thursday night. The jury convicted him Wednesday night. My parents have known about this since last August, the incident happened in April of last year. They didn't tell me sooner because they didn't want me to worry. He falls under the 10-20-life law here in Florida for those of you who want to look it up. I am in need for prayers that the judge will not give him the 20 years. This has been very hard for me and it is just the beginning. I don't feel like doing anything but then I think about it. This has torn the hearts out of my family. Most of them still don't know. It hurts to know that in the next few years when my husband and I get ready to have kids that my brother won't be around. Also he will probably never have kids either. All prayers/thoughts are much needed and appreciated. If I'm not on here much you all know why. Thanks in advance and I will try to keep updated but it's hard to think about.

Also, spent yesterday at the ER... found out I have gallstones and my gallbladder needs to come out.

I'm out of sick time at work until September, and I don't think it will hold until then... we're already really broke b/c of unforseen expenses, and really can't afford for me to have any time off without pay - or for me to lose my job b/c of illness.

Actually ... the kids do great. They just seem to sponge up everything they are seeing. For some of them it is their first time away from home. I think 108 or 118 kids going this year, 3 buses. Last year, the kids said their favorite thing was seeing the monuments lighted up at night. We will see what it is this year. She's got the Phunnie Pharm at home with our family ;) so maybe a few days away isn't a bad thing.

One more bit of good news, my nephew was chosen to go to Turkey on an archeology work trip this summer, yay! I don't know that much about Turkey except that it is located near Greece, has a history going back centuries, the home of Turkish Angora and Turkish Van cat breeds, and currently mostly Muslim. I bet I will learn more about Turkey and the Muslim religion as he gets ready to go, though.

I would like to make one...

I was fired in September from my job.

I am fighting to get it back thru my union and I have been going thru the
process with a union steward.

Basically My job was putting info into a system that tracks operations, for the longest time I had to wing it because we had no system administrator.

THere was no way I could run reports on the system so I could track my mistakes! THe last Sys Admin locked me out of the sytem after they fired him for being on disability and working with his father in construction.

When they hired a new sys admin and she had no experience in the medical field. That is where the problems began. She 'knew it all' and began to change everything. She disliked me because they would bypass her to get answers to questions that she should have known.

Anyway she started to track all my mistakes-when I asked her for a report to audit my work she denied me any kind of help ir access to reports so I could clean up the work. She told the big bosses that I didn't need to run any reports-and wasn't given the chance to fix any errors.

Long story short, I was fired because of my mistakes. Even after begging everyone for assistance. The big bosses took her word over my 17 years of experience and my constant requests for help.

I got a call from one of the ladies that worked with her and she told me that the EVIL sys admin was removed from that position! I suspect that her inability to be a team player came back to bite her!

So, now that things have changed I am hoping that this may be a sign...

I could use some good vibes? :D

Thanks PTers!

Yes, definite compensation for Richard, God!

Why not cast around for something better? I mean - what if your bosses listen to another silly upstart? Or do you think they've learned their lesson?

Prayers for you - and all here that need and want them.

Would the good folks of PT send some pawsitive thoughts (& maybe a prayer or two) our way the next few days?

The movers will be here on Friday to pack up our house, and I'm getting pretty anxious over how much is still on my "to do " list. Sherman is stressing out too, he's eating all kinds of non-edibles, and we really don't any emergency visits to the vets right now. He ate a tubes of freen and white paint, a bunch of styrofoam, & some plastic stuff yesterday (and boy did he have colorful poops!) He now out in the outdoor kennel for his own good. I will be very glad when the packings done!

Prayers going out for all your requests.

So many of you needing prayers, and I promise I will pray for each of you. May I add a request, too?

My sister is having surgery this morning and I wish I could head to Winston Salem to be with her. She has had nothing but problems since her hysterectomy and lymph node removal in January (she was diagnosed with endometrial cancer) and today they are going to do an incision to remove more lymph nodes and a cyst that formed from the last surgery, which was done laproscopically. My parents are going up this afternoon and will stay as long as she needs them to. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers, you guys. She needs to feel better and be done with this. She expressed concern last night that the lymph nodes they are removing today might be cancerous and that's the first time she has said that. They had told her that the cancer was contained and they "got it all" when they did the hysterectomy, but apparently her surgeon is now doubting that. I hope they find that it is still ok and she can finally start to recover, fully. Enough is enough! This will be the 3rd time that she has had general anesthesia in 5 months, first the original surgery, then to put in a drain for the fluid that was collecting and not being absorbed. Today, once again, she is "under" and will have the incision that they avoided before. I am so worried about her. :(

My sister, Beth, is out of surgery and awake. I actually was able to speak with her for moment, around 1:15. She has pain, but they are going to treat that as soon as she can eat something.

Thank you for the prayers. They will meet with the oncologist/surgeon at 3 pm and hopefully will learn more then.

Prayers are being offered for everyone here who has requested them.

Dear God, please keep Logan's sister close by You and help her heal and be well.

And may the Goddess of Justice visit Richard's life and straighten everything out for him.

Asking for a prayer... or two.

One to help me completely heal from having my gallbladder out on 5/11. I am still in a great deal of pain, and nobody (dr's) can figure out WHY. Even after 4 days in the hospital and thousands of dollars in tests.

Another, because in January we found a small spot on a mammogram/ultrasound combo (4mm) and I had a follow up u/s this past week. The one tiny spot is now "a collection of lesions" and I have an appointment tomorrow to find out what my next step is. Cancer terrifies me, so I am praying it is not that.

Thanks,
Crystal

alex the wonder dog is now 11. he's been having grand mal seizures since he was 13 months old, and as time has passed, he's had several hundred over the years. since last july his pattern has changed, and i know that the change is not for the good, in a away it's kind of hospice for dog situation, i will not do anything more invasive, his condition will never change, and will never improve. he is still the happiest when he is with me, has food and has managed to steal a kleenex to shred. and that is the way it is, and what i'm asking is that i can learn to accept this. thank you joyce
