Aww, but it could be so many things. Wide awake or not, there's financial fears, domesic abuse that could be deadly and some people would rather be with a DB than be alone. Cultural issues, the list goes on and on...Sometimes action is in order, it is certainy uncertainable without the facts eh?

Marriage is a goal she's had for a while. When she met this guy, I thought she had finally figured it out. But no.

I think there are some self-concept issues here. I have never understood this. Even with all the crap my mom laid on me, I have never believed in a magic pill, or relationship that would cure everything and make it perfect.

And she wants a baby.

I know he threatens her and plays on her emotions, at least that is what she has said, yet she denies that is what he is doing. She wants more from life and doesn't understand that her strength comes from within.

Okay, I'm rambling. It's late. I'll keep y'all updated.

Oh no!! First of all, self esteem, self respect. Then decide what comes later. Hey, she will make her own decisions, but some good advice may be in order.

The harder we push, the more she digs in. I wonder if we should encourage her instead or just be silent. And ignore her complaints.

Just be silent, IMO. Ignore her complaints, change the subject.

One good response to anything is to say just, "oh." ;)

If she REALLY pushes her complaining, try something like, "Oh, you're a smart gal. You'll figure it out." Leave it at that.

Time to take away her audience.

I don't often ask for anything for myself, but I could use some of those powerful PT Prayers. I've been battling some serious health issues since last December, with still no positive diagnosis. It seems that the problems are now coming to light, and the results are potentially quite serious. I had to ditch my PCP of nearly 15 years who was doing basically nothing to help me, and find a doctor who was able to get the ball rolling and find the source of the problems. Still facing more tests and procedures, but it seems that we are finally closing in on the problems. The answers might not be good, but at least I will have answers, and can move forward with any necessary treatment. Your prayers and positive thoughts will help greatly - I've seen them work before.

Thanks friends....................

I have an appointment with another specialist this afternoon, and also have to call for an appointment with yet another. I have 2 more scans scheduled next week, and don't know if these 2 pending appointments will schedule even more "stuff". Thank goodness I have excellent medical insurance coverage and will have to pay nothing out of my pocket for any of this.

And PLEASE to any of you on Facebook - say NOTHING on there about any of this. I don't want any of my issues broadcast on there. Thanks for understanding.................

Prayers for you all.
Sorry I've been absent. My migraines have been terrible... and last week I found out a super good friend of mine from when I was a young kid that I have kept in touch with passed away.

He had been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure last year, lost over 120 lbs, and never once complained. He just said, "well this is what it is" and went about his day.
He has a young daughter named Kennedy. She was the light of his life. My heart goes out to her.

Thanks a bunch Maggie. Now waiting for results of 2 MRI's late last week - maybe today or tomorrow. It seems the problems have probably been identified, but what caused them or how to treat, is up in the air at this point.

And on the Baltimore note - prayers that this settles soon with no further bloodshed , violence, or destruction of property and businesses. Glad I'm not having to see my spine specialist there right now, since Camden Yards is practically next to the hospital/med center, and I drive right past there on my way over. I need to get over there, but I'll hold off till things quiet down.

That would be so funny. To me anyway. I have found that most people in the South do not have a sense of humor or a sense of the ridiculous. When I find someone that does, they are usually a transplant or have lives elsewhere for a while.

One pet peeve. She keeps mum about a lot of stuff and doesn't want any help. She did want me to keep her cats during this move, but I couldn't do it. Mainly because I have no place to put them. I was her second choice because she couldn't find her mom. But the cats made it to her mother's and that's good.

So, my friend found another place that was nicer with a nicer landlord. He didn't like cats for starters. He would also give her husband something else to do in addition to flooring and then complain when the flooring work wasn't done. She said the landlord was creepy, so I'm glad she moved or tried to.

The story isn't over. The electricity at the new place wasn't turned on yet, so they were moving stuff at night with a flashlight. Some neighbors saw this and called the police. Her hubbies two friends were there, looking suspicious (?), so the cops searched them. The hubbie does black market prescription pain killers and refuses to quit. He had some on him. He is in jail.

I think she's had enough. He doesn't have the money to bail out and she won't do it. So she's at her mom's. Hopefully they'll keep him in jail until he's through withdrawal. She told him that he quits or she is gone.

Personally, I would have done that well before we were married, but that's me.

Just an update.

Sigh.

I am requesting good thoughts and prayers for my mom.

She is holding her own. The waiting is very stressful on her and she isn't well to begin with. The "waiting" is to see a BP specialist on May 5th who will hopefully resolve her low BP issues. She has drops in BP when she stands up, possibly as a result of her condition and definitely as a result of the Sinemet, the Parkinson's med she is on.

So...get the BP handled, adjust the Sinemet, re-adjust the BP med (probably), and start her on the month-long trial for a CPAP machine. (She stops breathing about 41 times per hour, according to her sleep test. And she's SKINNY!).

I really hope that putting all these things together will help her feel better. She can't be cured - be being more comfortable is the goal here.

Thank you.

More violence and unrest is erupting as I type this - and it's the day of the funeral of Freddie Gray. I'm watching a Baltimore station - and it's crazy and a lot of the city is already shutting down before it even gets dark and even more difficult to keep the masses of rioters under control. I believe that all this is just an excuse for the hoodlums to get out and do what they do best - create more havoc. They are accomplishing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, and just making matters worse. So damn sad...........

It is, and you know the law-abiding citizens of Baltimore are the ones who will pay the price, in terms of the city's reputation, damage to businesses ...

Yes - Baltimore normally is one of the calmer and more relaxed and hospitable of the big cities. It's a shame that they are being dragged down by relatively few trouble makers.

No - nothing on the MRI's yet. The CT scan I had before these, detected some major issues and prompted my doctor to order the MRI's, since the MRI's are much more precise and exacting, and can further visualize what the CT can't. And in the meantime, last week I also started my 5 week i.v. iron infusion to combat the dangerously severe anemia that is plaguing me. I go to the infusion lab at the hospital once each week for an i.v., and about 3 weeks after I have the last one, then more lab to check my iron level. Hopefully it will be up and stay up. I had this once before about 5 years ago, and it worked wonders. Hoping for the same results this time. Now to get other issues resolved!!!! Several different ones all smacked me down at the same time - around mid-December. I'm just so darn weak and tired -feel like I have the strength of a newborn kitten............

Thanks for asking, Karen.

Prayers for your Mom, Candace - and for you too.

I just "don't get" the Canadian healthcare system. I can't believe that they make one wait so long for an appointment for a serious issue - this could be life-threatening. Another Canadian friend has told me so many of what I view as "horror stories", regarding what gets paid for, how long you have to wait, what your doctor is allowed to treat, and on and on. At least here in the States, if your doctor orders a test or procedure or consultation, it isn't (IN MOST INSTANCES), ever questioned, and it is preformed in a matter of days - or immediately if that's what the doctor requests. So many folks here complain about the healthcare system - they don't know how lucky they are.

No - no fun at all. And if it wasn't for the Wolfman/TwinkleToes/PinkBelly, I don't know where I'd be. Many a day, he has been the only reason I get out of bed, and I wouldn't if I didn't have him to take care of. I have to get up, take him out to potty, and then get him his breakfast. Of course, many has been the time that I'm just so exhausted, that I go back to bed after taking care of this. :p He's such a little gem, that he comes right back to bed with me, and doesn't mind in the least. He knows Mom isn't feeling too great, and he is determined to try to make me feel better. A dog's 6th sense absolutely amazes me. :)

My doctor called this a.m. - she wants me in her office tomorrow at 10 to "discuss" the results of the MRI's. Feeling somewhat apprehensive, but the issues won't just go away if I don't think about them...................

Aww, we had a scheduled outage last night as the city switched its power grid structure, but before that we had a spike that ate two of my surge protectors/plug bars.

A warning, folks - never ever plug your computer directly into the outlet. A Surge protector is a lot easier to replace than you computer!

My moms not doing so well. shes has COPD an has been on straight oxygen for about 7years or so an right now she has phenomena in her left lung an is retaining CO2. shes been in the hospital since the 8th of this month an the phenomena is finally is clearing up some but the CO2 she keeps retaining without treatments an its been a very bumpy road getting to this point for the doctors to figure whatd works for her to regulate it.

first day she had a tube put down her throat to breath for her an suck the stuff out
secant day the tube was removed cuz my mom hated being sedated an it didnt help in the long run away. it got the CO2 out of her lungs but it sky rocketed however many hours later
day 3 they tried a regular oxygen mask thingy an seeing how that went
day 4 that mask didnt work. the CO2 sky rocketed
day 5 they tried a different mask that puts 14 pounds of air into her lungs but feels similar to driving down the road an sticking your head out the window with your mouth open going 60MPH or faster an trying to breath like that
the remainder of the days has been waiting for the phenomena to clear up enough to go home

the day 5 mask(a bipap/cpap type mask) is working so far but my mom hates the thing cuz it feels like she cant breath with it on an starts getting bad anxiety with it. to add to the matters she has short term memory an has to be explained over an over why the mask is on her face an that she can an 'is' breathing with the mask on it just feels like she cant an that she'll will die without it. i dont mind explaining to her a billion times over why the mask is on her face an that she is breathing i just hope she doesnt feel like its too much to handle/forcing her to do something she doesnt want. im hoping they send us home with a different kind of mask to level the CO2 out that doesnt make her feel like she cant breath

any good thoughts an prayers would be much appreciated

Thank you everyone for your kindness an prayers. it really means a lot to me.

a lady came in yesterday an did a interview with my mom to see if she would be willing to do a at home Hospise care plan an my mom was all for it. today however shes flat out refused the mask an had a total panic attack to the point of tears about it. after most the day had gone by my dad finally was able to convince her to try the mask.

ETA:
my dad got off the phone with me a few minutes ago giving me an update(i visit for a little over half the day an return home to take care of the animals an my dad stays there with her) that they gave her something to sleep through the night an she still has the mask on.

one of my fears is either when she wakes up or comes home she'll panic an then refuse to use the mask,, but my dad says he thinks she'll have much less anxiety at home an be more willing to use it.

ETA yet again:
they sent her home with us an my mom tried the mask out but it didnt help at all an moms going down hill fast with slurred speech an no strength to move around at all. my brother; sister in law; an our pastor came out an spent all morning with us an my brother said the Prayer For Salvation that she repeated after him so thats really good. just.... *sigh*

ETA agains:
my mom passed on the 18th =/ i cant believe shes really gone. by how the doctors were sounding she'd wear the mask at night while sleeping an use something that looks similar to one of those Ecig things during the day but their story changed to she needed to wear the mask all the time right as she came home. something i really dont understand being they seen how it panicked her an such to make her go through that an it still not help in the long run. to be honest im quite angry about that part of it. its no wonder they have you sign papers stating that you cant sue them.

I don't remember whether I shared this here or not. If I didn't: I have a high school classmate, Sandy, whose son Jacob was diagnosed with lymphoma about a year ago, maybe more. He passed away Tuesday afternoon. I'm very sad for Sandy and her husband, who was a year or two ahead of us in school. His memorial service will probably be next week or the week after. :( So if you could say a prayer or think a good thought for Jacob's family and friends, I w ould be grateful.

This evening will be the last time for at least a couple of days that I will be posting.
I will have surgery tomorrow to repair an arthritic joint in my primary hand. I will have a cast for two weeks, then a brace for several more. The total recovery time (being able to fully use my hand) will be about 12 weeks, but the surgeon said that I can go back to work after the cast comes off, just in a very limited capacity (no wrestling wild cats and dogs:D)
Please send some positive thoughts this way, also to the surgeon so he doesn't mess up.;)
I spent the weekend putting up Christmas decorations, stocking up on cat litter and preparing the cats' medicines. My boyfriend is scared to death that he will mess up (with the cats), but I assured him that it'll be fine, and I will do as much as possible myself.

Prayers please for my choir director's kitten Tika! She's between 1 1/2 and 2, and was adopted with her momma last year. Yesterday Tika decided balancing on the railing for the stairway on the second floor was a fun thing to do ... and despite being taken down and scolded several times, she tried again today. She slipped and fell two stories, and shattered her front shoulder on landing. After much examination, they decided it would be best to amputate the leg, as the break9s) were too far up. So she is now a little tri-pawed kitty, and her humans are very sad and worried about her, and keeping her would covered (she's peeled off the onesie they had her in), while she heals.

So sorry to hear that, Karen! That's quite a fall.:(:(:( Poor Tika, poor parents!!! But Tika should do fine. 3 legged kitties and doggies do so amazingly well despite the loss of a limb, much better than we humans fare. My Tigg'r lost his leg after being shot by a neighbor. First day home, despite strict orders to keep him confined, he jumped straight up from the floor to the top of the dining room table the minute we unzipped his carrier, never missing a beat!

My best friend has been battling brain cancer for many years. She's been out of remission and actively receiving chemo and radiation since Sept 2015. (I think ... it's all becoming a blur)
She went in for her 'routine' MRI this past week and her mother said the report was devastating and she has surgery at Duke (in NC) on Monday.

My friend has not been talking very much because of the effects of the chemo and radiation - it's caused apraxia (which makes it difficult for her to communicate). But even with all she's been going through, just last week I received two very thoughtful gifts from her. She's always thinking of other people... bless her heart.

Please, if you could... say a prayer for her. Her name is Nanette. She needs a miracle.

It's been a rough year for my friends. Another friend has been in the hospital since Christmas, and had part of her foot amputated... then they ran more tests and their fears were confirmed: they had to amputate more. So they went back in and amputated just below her knee. She is probably going home this week, with a walker and a wheelchair. Her name is Lori.

My mom took a trip by ambulance to Emerg yesterday morning. She was sent to Emerg at one other hospital a couple of weeks ago for a a precautionary reason. She got all the bells and whistles - blood work, ekg, CT scan of head, x-rays - and all are negative.

Her Parkinsons is again causing her BP to drop when she stands up. Last night the chief neurologist and a resident came in and the chief neuro was horrified that Mom had not had ANY meds all day, including the Sinimet which is essential for Parkinsons. That meant she had not been able to eat all day either. :(

Anyway, I am off to see her and will feed her cat along the way.

Asking for prayers for her. Selfishly also for me as this is very very stressful and I want to be the best I can.

I don't like to seem selfish, so I have a tough time asking for people to pray for me, but....

If you all could continue the prayers for my family and I as we deal with the loss and grief of the brutal murder of my grandmother, I'd truly appreciate it. We're slowly finding comfort in the situation. We're also going through some other problems that deal with this incident that are being opened up, and I'm grateful that they're finally coming to a surface, but just pray that all of answers to our questions are revealed. I know that doesn't make sense, and I'm sorry. But please, if you could just keep us in your prayers, I could never thank you enough.

And everyone who has posted (and those who will later on post) will be in my prayers. Not a single person will go overlooked, and I don't care if you think your request is silly. If it's bothering you, it's a burden that needs to be prayed about... keep on prayin'.

I am so very sorry for your loss, your whole families massive loss. Words cannot express how bad I feel about what you have all been through and yet your heart is still open, loving and kind. I am certain you Grandmother is very proud of you and has faith in you, always in your heart and and with you forever. I will certainly hope and pray that you and your family find all the answers that you need and healing will begin.

Prayers for me pretty please. I'm not shy, I could use prayers for sure. Had my second surgery a month ago for my broken right arm. Had all the hardware taken out finally, 7 screws and a metal plate. They decided to graft in some cadaver bone too. The scar is pretty gruesome, but I don't care about that. Don't remember signing a consent form for the bone graft 😱 but I suppose it must have been in there amongst all the papers I signed. Kinda creepy eh. I'm feeling much better finally but I need all the prayers I can get please. Hopefully I can start physio soon, I'll send my bestest prayers for all of you Pet Talk Peeps in return. THANKS and thank you again! 🌹❤️😘

Great question cats4ever. He said he made the call when he realized it was necessary. There was also two staples on the back of my shoulder blade where he put in some sort of scope and had a look around. He thinks pretty highly of himself and gave me the impression answering my questions was beneath him. That's fine, I feel 99 % better so he's a superstar to me 😻🤜🏻🤛 Thank you for the warm wishes! One of the screws came loose and hurt so much. All gone👍🏿

Please pray for our neighbor Dick J, a spry elderly man. He had not collected his mail for a couple days, so Norm, my coworker who is the letter carrier here, called in a wellness check. When I passed his house earlier today, there was a state police truck, and an ambulance. I saw an EMT carrying a pillow and other things headed for the woods behind the house, and have heard nothing since. But I figure he must be alive, but perhaps injured - dead folks do not need pillows, right?

Please prayer for me, in dealing with being disappointed in people. I do not mean to find fault, but missteps by a younger man meant a fairly new, very frail member of the community named Donna (cancer survivor, with lingering frailty) almost went without food. I was able to help her, by the grace of God.

A worrisome situation in our immediate vicinity is a man who threatened to shoot our dogs if he caught them on his property again. Dusky is the sweetest pup, but he is black - literally, and we think the man is afraid of him because of that. He told Kermit Dusky "had him cornered in his garage," which is so totally against Dusky's whole personality - he likely ran up to him to say hello. We do let the dogs out loose to keep predators away from our animals, and they do a great job, but sometimes then go off visiting folks.

A woman we met because of our dogs, who adores them, and even sometimes keeps them overnight - with permission - is diagnosed with breast cancer, and undergoing radiation therapy. Our families have become friends because of our dogs, since Sue's diagnosis, Dusky feels the need to be over there, and has whined when we pass her house when he's in the car. She lives in Connecticut, but her family has a place up here, and they come up as often as they can. So please prayer for Sue, and her family as well.

Dick is alive and well enough to be asking about his cat. He was discovered, hypothermic and unresponsive, taken to the local hospital and medflighted over to a bigger hospital in New Hampshire. But because of Norm's actions he is alive and recovering.

So folks, check on elderly friends and neighbors, please! It could save an important life!

A neighbors rottweiler would visit us form time to time. the first time it was quite upsetting cuz for one it was totally out of the blue an a surprise to both me an the dog to happen upon each other. also she did NOT look the least bit friendly but instead she had that look dogs often display when theyve been caught doing something they know theyre not supposed to be doing. i knew staring a dog in the eyes was a no no an it was best not to forwardly approach a stranger dog so i averted my gaze an walked slowly sideways away from her keeping her in my peripheral vision. after a few steps she ran over to me an leaned against my leg an put her head right under my hand for a good ear scratching. after that her an i were fine with each other an i enjoyed her visits. but if we were not in my wide open field i (or the dog) may of felt trapped an even more unsure of each other an lemmie tell you; the last thing i cared about is what color(s) the dog was. for me it was totally the popup surprise situation an size of the dog.

perhaps try an invite your neighbor over for lunch an show him that your dog is friendly?

I was walking from my car to the entrance to my building (I live in a condominium building). I had my cane in my right hand as usual. I think one of two things happened - either I didn't put the cane solidly down, and it went out from under me; or the pavement was slippery and the cane just slid. Or both. The cane went out in front of me. I landed on my knees and then my hands.

I haven't told my wife yet, but I have already ordered the Weber Spirit E310 gas grill (https://mykitchenadvisor.com/best-weber-gas-grill/). We really love outdoor activities and grilled meat, for such gatherings, this is the perfect treat. This is my mundane dream - to organize warm and cozy gatherings in the summer. Prayers please for our beloved Lulu, our warrior princess. She is a Pointer/Blue heeler (Australian Cattledog) mix, and a year and a half old. Yesterday she was napping under a visitor's car, and got run over when the visitor left abruptly. She then was scared and ran - so Kermit sent most of the day scouring the woods nearby looking for her, calling her, with no success. After dark last night a neighbor drove her home, she was on his porch when he got home from work, and when he opened his door, she went in his house and jumped up on the couch.

When she got home she went up and slept on my bed, until Kermit got back and carried her to his bed and examined her. No broken bones, but she was obviously in pain, and would not eat, He took her to the vet this morning, and she has a massive hernia, and her organs are pushed up int her chest. She needs surgery, but we have to take her to a different vet for that - they don't have the capability there. But it's going to be at least $2000, and there's a chance she might not survive.

Prayers please! This is so scary. She is our self-appointed defender of the farm, and chases off foxes nearly every night, especially this time of year. She is sweet, cuddly and just the best dog ever.

She is so intent on protecting her charges from predators that she would have injured herself trying to dig through the door to go out and get them. Especially as she stretches on her hind legs to scrabble at the door. We lost 5 of this years' chicks to foxes while she was away. We tell her to take it easy, but she is adamant! Kermit is a trained vet tech- has all the schooling but could not find anyone to give him a practicim “internship” to get licensed. (Rural Vermont, limited places, and sadly, racism.) He is monitoring her very closely, I promise. We keep her inside as much as we can, but dawn and dusk - when the foxes are active- she is adamant about chasing them off.
