We have a 9 month old yorkshire terrier and he is so awesome, never goes inside (except when he cant get out- then he goes by the door) and never barks - except when we are playing. He copes well by himself and dosent tend to destroy everything.

Only sometimes he gets these uncontrolable shivers, for no reason? I know he's not scared? He's just eaten? but I know he's trying to say something. What do you think he needs? Beats me? Maybe he just wants some of my bacon and eggs?

Welcome to PT! :D

Do the shivers resemble any type of seizure in any way?
Is your house cool or cold?
Does he shiver when he is excited or calm?

My dog shivers in anticipation of soemthing to come, especially when we are working at the dog club. He knows when he has performed well and will be getting a reward so sometimes during the exercise (such as a sit stay) he will start to shiver. As soon as he is released he will get his treat/praise/petting and then calm down. He's a little dog (only 6 pounds) with hair and not fur so when it first started I thought it was because the dog club building was colder than our house but in a few months it was summer and we were working in an un-airconditioned building, and the same behavior started so I knew it wasn't the temp of the building, it was just him getting over excited.

Hes not cold or excited I think it may be he shivers in anticipation of something, he usually shivers over breakfast, so I thought it might be some king of begging for pity or food. It must be the anticipation of us leaving for work... I noticed it again in the evening when I was going to pick up his mum from work, he shivered the whole way there, then stoped when she arrived. That makes sence, thanks. So why has this behaviour just started? I guess we've been on holiday for the past month or so and he's gotten used to spending all day with us??

Thanks for the replies
