Just a word of warning about letting a beloved cat play with dental floss. I work at a veterinary hospital and just yesterday a cat came in who ingested dental floss and had to have emergency surgery. Fortunately she survived and when I saw her today seemed to be recovering but was still on I.V fluids. Beside the anguish and trauma to the cat and family, this incident cost the owners in excess of $2,000.

Dental floss is not a toy and should be disposed of in a place where pets cannot access it.

Same thing with thread AND Christmas icecicles. I was making cage curtains and my kitty (RB Marina Mar) got a hold of some thread. She was scooting her butt on the carpeting and I found a long piece of it coming out her tushy. I gently pulled it (which you're NOT supposed to do) until it stopped. Then I rushed her to the vet. It cost me $60 but fortunately there was no harm done.
