We adopted our dog Cosmo from animal control here in town about a year ago this month. Does anyone have any ideas what kind of dog he may be, I've been told he looks like a long legged Jack Russsell Terrier. I've looked online and he sort of does, but sort of doesn't, so I'm not sure. Maybe someone here could help me out. Thank you!

Italian Greyhound/JRT. Those beautiful, amber eyes and the way he lies down, plus his extra long legs, SCREAM Iggy to me! The shape of his head looks very Iggy as well.

What a handsome boy! He sure is cute. I agree with Giselle, he looks like an Italian Greyhound.
I hope you stick around PT and post some more pictures!

Thank you both for the response. I also thought he was an Italian Greyhound, but after looking at pictures of other Italian Greyhounds Cosmo looks small and he doesn't have that greyhound stand or posture. I also thought for a while that maybe he was a Whippet, but he doesn't seem to have their posture either. Here are a few more pictures of him standing up. I've always wanted to adopt a greyhound, I love those dogs, but my husband thought one would be to big for the house, I disagree. When I came home with Cosmo my husband said I now have a little greyhound. Cosmo turned out to be such a sweetie. :)

If he was mixed he would have less of that stance, and a pit of the parson/jack stance. He's adorable though

Yes, I would say either Italian Greyhound/JRT or Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua, his head has the shape of a Chi.

He MUST have some Whippet or Italian Greyhound.

I wouldn't put purebred rat terrier past this dog. Or a mix of parson. Working types have many body shapes. He must have been bred on purpose since his tail is docked.

he looks a bit like my Snow and K9Krazee's Kyra so he could be a Jack Russell (Parson) or Jack Russell mix

He could have some Rat Terrier in him. I have a Rat Terrier but her legs aren't as long I don't think.

Just wanted to thank everyone. I wish I knew who his first owners were, I would ask them...maybe I should ask the animal control guy, he knew a little about Cosmo and the people that owned him.

Jack Russle/ Whippit(sp?) it dosent matter if shes not as tall shes a mix so shes going to have some aspects of the other breed. By the look of the chest and legs and the ears I would say those are the whippit things the rest is the jack russle.

You said that the rescuers knew a little about his past and those who gave him up. This would be a great place to start. Maybe they know a little, maybe a lot, about one or more of his parents. But if i had to guess, I would say a long legged Parsons (JRT) mix.
