What do you think is the most expensive dog breed?

What do you mean? Cockers and other spaniels have a lot in vet bills. Great Danes and mastiff-types have the biggest food bills. English bulldogs are the most expensive to breed because they need c-sections most of the time.
I think if you were buying a puppy a Caucasian Mt. Dog would be at the high end. It all evens out though as you can find different prices from different breeders.

I Think Almost Every Toy Breed Is Expensive.
I Saw A 5000 Dll Rottweiller Once.
English Bulldogs Are Expensive Too, Around 4000.

If you're talking about the initial price you pay a breeder I honestly don't think there is a most expensive breed, Bulldogs can run pretty high on average but so do many, many other breeds. The price depends on what each individual breeder wants to sell the puppies for. The average price for my 3 favourite breeds (Tollers, Groenendaels & Rotties) is between $1000 & $2500, there are some under and over those prices of course but that's the average. I've also seen breeders who want $4000+ and personally, I think that's absolutely insane.....

If you're talking about vet bills, I'd have to say generally speaking, Great Danes and other similar giant breeds would be the most expensive due to their short life span and health issues that come with these breeds. Small dogs can be really expensive as well because some owners don't brush their teeth often enough and small dogs are known for dental issues which can cost a lot to fix if you let their teeth get to s certain point, the same goes far all sizes of dogs but smaller ones I've found, seem to have the most problems.

Obviously, all of what I've said is just my opinion......

It is a very hard thing to judge but I'd say all around, Neapolitan Mastiffs.
They are expensive to buy because they are hard to breed. (mom and easily squash pups) Around $1500-$3000+
They are expensive to feed because they are massive.
Their vet bills usually run high.

Designer breeds  I think they're the most expensive for what you could pay just by going to the local shelter and picking up the SAME MIX :(

Any dog can be expensive... did you know that the average American spend $15,000 just on food and toys for the life of a dog? Thats not mentioning vet care!

I personally like my free dog. She's the best! You can't put a price on a wonderful companion.

For the initial price, there really isn't a most expensive breed. Breeders charge whatever they want, there's no specific pricing per breed.

i heard english bulldogs are quite expensive. because of their head formation, they have to be born by c-section, which isnt cheap.

What do you think is the most expensive dog breed?
As mentioned, expensive is relative!

I ran into this webpage the other day. http://www.teacupandtoypet.com/

It's apparently the site where Paris Hilton and other celebrities have shopped.

from that page for example:

$14,875.00 WITH NO REGISTRATION. MEANING THEY COME FROM "TINKER BELLS" BLOODLINE.
German Shepherd dogs from working lines in Germany have been purchased for tens of thousands of dollars and imported to the USA. Are people ripped off? Maybe, sometimes, it depends... But the person plunking down their money merely needs to agree that they want to pay X amount of money -- no one is holding a gun to their head, we hope. :) :D

$14,875.00*** LOL! Geesh not to smart and to think that these
people could have spent thousands less on a pup from a reputable
show home.

Semavilady,
I think you are the first person on this web site that owns Anatolians. :D

I think you are the first person on this web site that owns Anatolians. :DI have no idea. :) But this is a nice website. I had been visiting off and on for about a year before I joined. Nice people here.

I've always had black labs till Missy, so I don't know a lot about other breeds. My best guess would be one of the 'designer breeds'. Since when is mixing breeds the 'in' thing? All I know is it's like the credit card commercial

Dog food $8.

Vet Bill $60.

Precious Pooch: Priceless!!!

Well, let's see, my german shepherd mix Roscoe cost $85.00 from the shelter 9 months ago. We paid another 100 or so that night for food, toys, leash, collar, food & water bowls, etc. Then there was the cost of obedience school, more toys because he destroyed the ones he had, carpet cleaner every time he has peed on the carpet (LOTS of carpet cleaner), the vet bill when he licked his 'thingy' raw  , replacing the carpet in the entry room that he ripped up, fence for the yard, replacing the molding on the doorway in the entry room that he tore off, re-painting the door because he thought if he scratched off all the paint I would magically appear...I'd have to say that my dog is the most expensive.

The way he looks at me, with adoring big brown eyes...PRICELESS!

Breeder dogs are VERY expensive. I've seen some Malteses for around 4,000 Dollars.

What do you mean “breeder dogs”? Dogs from BYBers out to make a buck, yes. But I have never seen a good conformation breeder sell a dog for that much. Maybe toys do, but I’ve never heard of it. $2000, I’ve heard of.

Well our breed is pretty expensive, I paid 3000 for my first female. I dont know if thats the most expensive. Ive seen some really nice aussies for 5000.
Klee Kai average between 1500-3000 and there are waiting lists.
Rescues go for about 800. Sounds like a lot of money to be made right?
With stud fees 1500-1800 without pup guarantees, and VERY small litters people are lucky to break even if they show the dogs.

when i was on holiday i saw a newspaper article about designer dogs, which they were talking about oy poodle crosses as beign the coolest dog right now, and a day later guess what i saw in the pet shop? a toy poodle cross puppy no more than my kttens!! seriously cute an dpriced at $1250, which is expensive here. the chihuahuas at the pet shop were $950. thats quite a lot, adn generally in new zealand people get non-pedigree cats, i dont know about doggies, though. genrally quite cheap though.
