Hi Everyone. I just stumbled upon this site looking for info on the web. I hope someone can help me out.
This morning my husband woke me up(at 5:30am) to tell me the dog (a 2 year old siberian husky) had pooped blood all over the living room. There were 3 different spots where she went and it lookes like it was mixed with a little bit of feces, but it was def. bright red. :(
It smelled bad also. She LOVES rawhide bones, so i am wondering if maybe she has something stuck and thats what is causing the blood? She has occasionally had tarry looking stools also ( I had no idea this was blood, I just though it was gross poop :( )
Any ideas. I am calling the vet this morning, but they are not open yet.
Thanks in advance for any help.

How scary. I hope you get an answer from the vet soon.

It could be one of many things, seeing as she sometimes gets tarry stools it is probably caused by something that happened a while ago, or may be related to it or it could be something different but the tarry stools is not normal either.
It could be a blockage or a partial blockage, a torn something or other, a parasite, an illness the list can go on & on.

You are right on track by getting a hold of you vet. Good luck & keep up posted please.

Well, we went to the vet and they took blood, gave her an antibiotic shot and something called Centrine. The doc said that because she was not also throwing up, it is not likely a blockage, but maybe more of an inflammation or infection. So, I have 2 meds to give her, Flagyl tablets and Endosorb, and I will find out what the blood test says tomorrow. Also he put her on the W/D food, science diet, I think?
She is so not herself today, she is calm, it is so sad to see her like this.
Thanks for the help.
