Rocky has spent a peaceful Christmas, and it looked like he was really enjoying to be with his family.
But when I saw him again tonight, I didn't like at all what I saw. He didn't even get up to great me, and barely lifted his head while he was resting on his blanket all the time. It really seemed to me as if he's already preparing for the bridge, even though Reinhold (step father) hopes he will still be around for half a year, but I guess that's just wishful thinking.
Another thing that worries me: Reinhold mentioned that rotties in pain might get mean, so I fear a bit for the kitten Peggy, who's used to sleep with him on his blanket. What if Rocky's so much in pain that he's snapping at her?
This was Rocky yesterday; today I took no photos because I didn't want to bother him.

I don't know, but it really seems to me he's declining quickly now, it's very sad. I'll keep you updated, okay?

It's always so painful to part with our sweet best friends. This is so sad. He's such a gorgeous Rottie boy and if it's his time to go to the bridge, we wish him the most peaceful journey possible.
(((((HUGS TO ALL OF YOU))))) :(

Oh Rocky, I hope you can stick it out- for just a while. It's soo hard, when you're an old man, you get grumpy, and you're tired, often. BTW, Rocky, you're very handsome!

Thank you everyone!
He ate this morning, so my parents thought he would be doing a bit better, and they took him out for a walk. But after a while, they noticed it was too exhausting for him and they had to go back.
And yes, Corinna, it's true, his eyes are so sad now. Just as if he thinks he cannot leave his family... poor guy! :(

He reminds me so much of my Wolfgang, who went to the Bridge on March 9, 2004.
May I ask what is wrong with Rocky?

Thank you everyone! I saw Rocky this evening and he seemed to be doing better. He was more interested in things, he ate a bit, and he enjoyed to have company and to be petted. I guess it's going to be a rollercoaster from now on, with ups and downs...
May I ask what is wrong with Rocky?
He went to the vet last week because his appetite lessens and because he has lost weight. They made an x-ray-shot and found out that his spleen is very enlarged, it fills the entire abdomen. My stepdad was too shocked to asked what's the cause of this, but I suspect it might be cancer.
The vet said that due to Rocky's age (11 years) and his bad condition, he wouldn't survive a surgery. All we can do is to wait if he makes it to the Bridge by himself, or if he needs help... :(
