My almost 4 month old puppy barks like crazy at people who come to the house. She's not an aggressive dog but shy, if people try to approach she will runaway. After around 15 minutes she will stop barking and just ignores the people, but how do I keep her from barking in the first place or at least how do I get her to stop when I tell her to? I tried distracting her with food but that doesn't help. Any advice?

get her more exercise, I mean real tired. then have a puppy party once in awhile to get her socialized and used to people. have others play with her and give her treats when he acts nice.

Or, whenever you come in the house with visitors, give them treats and make her sit to get the treats as soon as they come in.

A tired dog is a good dog. lol

Obedience classes will help a lot, and with a lot of other issues too.
