From the pictures the tank looks a little small (I'm looking at the bottom where I see gravel to the top where I see the water surface) Usually it's best to keep them in at least a 1 gallon tank. Since theirs look smaller than that remember to change their water often! Twice a week would be great, never use soap when cleaning the tank, just some hot water. Also remember to add water treatment everytime you change the water.

That's a myth. Once of the biggest myths about Bettas is that they don't need much water. The truth is that the more room your betta has to swim the happier he will be. People think that they live in small puddles because they are often found in rice patties in Asia. However people don't realize that they aren't small puddles, rice patties are actually flooded which gives them tons of room to swim.
