Eveytime I take a bath, my cat's gather in the bathroom, like their having a meeting. :D They all just stare at the water, and when I'm finished running the water, Simba the oldest and the worst about it, and my Pepper jump on the side of the bathtub and start drinking the water. After their done, the baby Cherokee, get's her turn. Then they all sit on the bathroom floor or toliet and wait for me to get done. Then it's a free for all after the waer drains out. I put fresh water down everyday, so that's not the problem. Of course, I let them do this because it doesn't bother me but I'm just worried this might not be normal..? Any of you have this scenario at home?

I know for a fact that cats often like the taste of water that's different to their normal fresh water. Zsa-Zsa often drinks rainwater collected in puddles and cats like the taste of pond water apparently. But bathwater? Well, i suppose it's possible that the bubble bath you use could taste nice to them. I'd discourage them from drinking the water though, as the bubble bath could contain chemicals which could harm them.

Hope i've helped:)

One of my cats, Caramel rushes into the bathroom everytime the water runs, even if it is in the sink for a drink. He sticks his paws in it and then takes a sip of the water coming out of the tap. He waits till Im done taking a bath and then when I rinse out the tub he licks the tub dry  I don't know why he does it because as you said I always put freshwater for him put I guess it is just for a change. My other cat, Coco that goes outside always drinks out of puddles and the water that trickles out of the fountains. It is so cute. Caramel even drinks out of glasses of water if you leave them around. He sticks his face in and licks and sometimes he knocks the glass over lol! I love them anyways though. Just becareful though to make sure your cat doesnt drink any bath product or cleaner and it should be ok as long as you dont mind them doing it :)

Smokey the Younger drinks out of the faucet in the bathtub sometimes. She always makes airplane ears so they won't get wet! I need to try to get a pic sometime.

Please make sure that your kitty isn't drinking soapy water! It'll make her throw up.

They just do it when I first get in. They never drink any soap or anything. Mostly they just love watching me take a bath, waiting for the water to drain, and then getting in and licking it dry. It's very funny to watch. Thanks for the replies! :)

Bastet "cleans" up the water in the shower for me after I have finished. I think its because she likes the fresh water. I am not sure but this behaviour seems pretty normal for most cats. She won't "clean" it after I have cleaned the shower with chemicals though - even then I do close the door to the bathroom regardless. I wouldn't want to be responsible for poisoning her.

Both of my cats LOVE drinking out of the sink in my bathroom every morning- in fact, they are usually up and sitting on the sink before my alarm even goes off, waiting for me to get up and turn the faucet on a slow trickle for them. Then it's a battle to see who gets to drink straight from the tap and who gets to lick the basin. Weirdos. They also like going into my shower when I'm finished as well- they don't usually drink from the floor, but they do like to stare at the water dripping from the faucet allllll the way to the floor.

Mishi is my bathtub kitty. Completely normal  cat behavior :D I even leave the water running during the day so he has 24-hour access to fresh water - even though all the water bowls also have fresh water, he prefers it on-tap :) We know who's got who trained in our house :p

Indigo likes to drink the drip from the bath tub faucet - it has to taste rusty and full of minerals, but she likes it. Beauty likes to wait for the bath tub to drain and then she gets in and soaks up the residual warmth from the warm water. She likes to lie on damp items of clothing, too, such as sweaters lying flat to dry when taken from the washing machine. So much for the idea that cats hate water. In college, my boyfriend's dog used to like to lap from the bath tub - we called it her "people soup."

Both of my cats like to watch us in the bath, but they don't drink the bath water. Sylvester the youngest likes to walk along the bath edge when we are in the bath and sometimes licks the shower tray dry. But mostly he likes to drink water which I have washed vegetables in or water that is in utensils in the sink. He is fascinated by water and loves to watch it drip in the sink. I can't understand it as I change thier drinking water twice a day and still he does it.

Another note of caution from the over-cautious Beauty (the person, not the cat of the same name): make sure that when you put knives to dry in upright dish drainer slots, you put them point down. I read about a prowling cat who stepped over a knife that was drying point up and severed a femoral artery and almost bled to death before being saved at a cat trauma center. These little cats can find so many ways to get themselves into trouble! And if they are attracted to sinks and counters, we have to keep those areas particularly safe.

Maghoí and Dílle are real big on hanging out in the bathroom when I take a bath too! Dílle even has her own rubber duck she bats around in the water. They don't drink the water until it has all drained out of the tub. I had presumed that they hung out in the bathroom to be close to me.
