Paul is looking into the problem, as I just got that error to appear for me as well.

It's been doing that for me for a couple weeks now.

Try using less common words when you do your search. If I do a search for "dog" I get that error, but I usually am searching for something more particular - a less common word - so I had not gotten that error before today.

That's kind of screwy, as I was looking for threads with old "Simba Pictures" and it gave me that error - both words have been frequently used here.
Also, sometimes i'll search for just Simba and it says it doesn't come up with any matches....what the heck? The program doesn't want me to find my own dog obviously. :p

The problem is that our Serach Index is huuuuuuuge (bigger than many other BBS's) and it runs out of memory. Paul is, as I said, looking into that. We're just all so blabbery that we've created a monster! :p

I was wondering if that was it, because it says that the memory allowence was exhausted. But, a few weeks ago I was searching for "Great Dane" and also put in a particular user name and it gave me that. It doesn't seem like that would come up with many results.

I guess that problem is fixed?
simba came up with 2372 searches & simba pictures came up 537.
however, I am having hard time with search machine here too. I remember I was searching for something a few days ago, forgot what the problem was but it kept saying invalid thread or was it suppose to say 'sorry - no matches'..

hmm.....
what did I do was typing in simba and click nothing else except that 'search now' button.
I recalled since we have PC & MAC here, one works, another won't so maybe it depends on what? dunno but I did that search on my sidekick (pager) too.
by the way, 2372 was suppose to be 2327. :p

Well, if I search something simple it's okay. But if I go put in "Great Dane" and also a person's username, it doesn't work. And just "Great Dane" doesn't work either ... so I guess there are too many results

great danes, I've experimented and tried narrowed by great dane only in dog forums, 2nd - great dane only from 2005 to present and 3rd - just great danes..all came up "fatal error" too. *blowing a hair*..
but here are the results (http://petoftheday.com/talk/search.php?searchid=107051) for you, .sarah. I searched only with dane, rather than commonest word, "great" alone and came up with 1141 threads. I hope what it is you're trying to find is there, or you now can try narrow it down with username you wanted.
