Pearl May Be Sick

Hi, just when I thought all of my furkids were doing well now my baby girl Pearl may be sick. :( Late yesterday afternoon she started coughing like she was going to throw up a furball so I gave her some furball medicine. Later last night she began doing it again and she also began sneezing a lot. This morning she threw up some thick clear mucus looking stuff so I called my vets office. I'm taking her in this morning at 10:20am. I sure hope that it's nothing serious or nothing contagious. Please send some prayers her way. Thanks.

On another note, Sky just got over having a sneezing, watering eyes, and stuffy nose episode that lasted a little over a week. I'm still convinced it was only allergies because when I gave him 1 tablet of Chlortrimeton as per Moosmom's advice he seemed much better. He's now doing very well and is back to his old self. :) I just hope that his episode wasn't something else that is now causing Pearl to be sick. :(

I hope that it is nothing serious- but yes it sounds as if Starr's problem could have been contagious. In that case it could be nothing too grave as he is well again.

Yes, Pearl is sick. :( She's running a fever of 103.6 and she's still sneezing and coughing but she waited until she came home to do this again. The vet at first thought that she may have swallowed something so he took x-rays. Luckily she hadn't but her tummy is full of gas. He gave her an antibiotic injection and she's on antibiotic pills 2 times a day for the next 10 days. I hope she'll cooperate with me.

The vet also said that it could have been an air born virus and to let him know if any of my other cats have the same symptoms. Sky didn't have the coughing and his seemed like allergies and the vet agreed because he would probably still be sick now if it wasn't. I called into work and it's slow enough that I'm able to take the day off so I can watch my baby Pearl. I sure hope she'll recover quickly. Another thing that I just thought of is that both Pearl and Sky went to PetSmart about a month ago to have their nails trimmed. I wonder if they picked up something while they were there.

Thanks for all of the well wishes everyone. :) Pearl's still sneezing and coughing occasionally. She slept most of the day and didn't eat as much of her dinner as she normally does. I'll give her a pill tonight and hopefully she'll start feeling better very soon.

Storm still thinks that she smells like a hospital and he's been very hissy and mean to her. All she wanted to do was cuddle with him. She went to big brother Sunny instead and he cuddled with her and then she cuddled some with Starr. Sky also gave her many kisses but she misses cuddling with big brother Storm. :( I wiped her down with a baby wipe to try to get rid of the scent so hopefully by tomorrow all will fine again. Please continue to keep her in your prayers and I also hope that whatever this is that it's not contagious.

Thanks again everyone. :) Pearl slept with me or should I say on me last night. She kept sneezing throughout the night. When I was taking a shower she cried because she wanted to be with me. She's stopped coughing which is good but she's been sleeping a lot and isn't eating as much as normal but at least she's eating. She hates getting the pill so I know it'll be even more difficult once she starts feeling better. Starr wants to play rough with her and doesn't seem to understand that she isn't feeling up to this. I hope that the meds will make her feel much better by tomorrow and I'll continue to keep you updated.

Now Pearl, you be a good girl and take the medicine Mommy gives you. I know you'll be feeling better soon, but you have to take ALL the medicine, to make sure every last one of those bad germs is gone!

Sorry that your big brother Storm is being mean to you. He was very sick a while back, and the scent from the doctor's office probably reminds him of that. :( Maybe if Mom gives you a little catnip to roll in... :D

Gee, I don't know why, but reading that precious Pearl wanted to snuggle with Storm and he wouldn't let her , brought on the LES. I felt so bad for her. :(

Pearl's doing very well and is almost back to her normal self. :D She greeted me at the door with her brothers and then jumped up on the counter top and raced to kitchen cabinet where I keep her food dish for both her and Starr's dry food. She ate all of her dry food unless piggie Starr ate the rest for her. :) She only ate a little bit of her wet and dry mixture but I've been leaving out some dry food during the day and night so she can nibble when she gets hungry.

She's my active, nawtee, high energy little girl again and spent the next hour or so batting her mice around, playing with her kitty roulette wheel, wrestling with Starr and Sky, and jumping up on the glass table. :) She's still sneezing a little bit but it's not as bad as before. I think that the antibiotic injection that the vet gave her has made her feel better much sooner. :)

She's terrible to pill though and she got me really good with one of her claws. I have 9 more days of pilling so hopefully I'll get better at doing this to her or I'll be losing a hand in the process. :eek: Thanks again for all of the well wishes. This really means a lot to me. :D

The last update made me smile :) I can imagine how it will be to pill her (it's difficult with Tigris but impossible with Filou)- the fact that these little ones have a little mouth as well doens't make it easier. ;)

Pearl's still doing very well but sneezing a little bit. Storm has now accepted her again and he was comforting her and licking her head earlier this evening. I'm so happy that my fur family is almost back to normal. :) My vet's office gave me a courtesy call and wanted to know how Pearl was doing. They also did this after Starr's neuter/spay operation too. This really meant a lot to me to know that they really care about my babies. :) Thanks again for all of your concern and well wishes. I'll try to take some new pictures of Pearl and my other furkid as soon as I can. :)
