Hi,I finally took Starr to the vets for his dirty ear problem. It didn't seem to be getting any better so I just wanted them to be checked out for piece of mind. The vet looked at his ear wax under the microscope and said it looks like he has a slight bacteria infection. She also looked at his ears with the ear scope thing, I forgot the name, and said that his ear drums look healthy and the dirt didn't look like it was too far down inside of his ears.
Starr was a very scared little boy and clung to me. He still only weighs a little over 6lbs and he'll be 8 months old on Nov.22nd. The vet said that his weight is fine because he's a siamese mix. He's now on antibiotic ear drops for 2 weeks. I have to put 2-3 drops in each ear with his head tilted sideways and then I massage his ears. I can also clean his ears out 1-2 times a week with OtiRinse which is a cleansing/drying ear solution. I can use this on all of my cats.
Hopefully this will take care of his ear problems. I think he's had way too many problems in his young life already. I'll try to keep you updated. :)

ROFL good luck with that method. I was just happy to get it in all four furry kids ears before they tried to draw blood from me. :)
Dont forget to close your mouth when you administor before they shake their heads. That stuff taste nasty

The reason he has to have his head tilted is to make sure that the drops go down into his ear canal. I wrapped him in a towel and he was actually better at this than when I clean his ears. I think he can taste it though because he made a very unhappy face and acted like he had just eaten something nasty. LOL May these next 2 weeks go fast. :)

Oh my poor little favourite Starr!!! I haven't even met your cat Starr and I love him to bits! Be a good little boy Starr, Mummy means well and you must be a healthy boy and grow up big and strong. Sit still and be patient while Mummy does what she has to do. It's doctor stuff, you will understand when you get bigger, and be glad that you did as you were told when you were little. Eat all your dinner and stay strong and healthy. :p :)
We need a kissing smiley - Karen???? (((Hugs)))XXXXX

Starr is one of my favorites as well- just because this cute little boy has already been through so much. So this ear infection is only a minor thing (although I know that administering drops to a wiggly worm can be pretty annoying ;) ).

Poor Starr/ Hopefully the next 2 weeks will go fast, and the infection will go away.

Oh Starr sweetie, how I pray that this will be the last of your health problems. You've been through so much already. I say, "Enough is enough." Please God, let this little one enjoy the rest of his life without any more health problems. Don't you think he deserves it.
Starr please be good for meowmie in taking your ear drops and letting her clean out your widdle ears.
Also, I think we need to see some new pictures of you and the rest of your gorgeous siblings. :D (Hint, hint)

Thanks everyone. :D I think that he may still have a poor immune system and hopefully it'll become stronger as he gets older. I don't know when I'll be able to take some new pictures of him but I'll try to as soon as I have some free time. :)

More hugs to Starr and sending lots of mental T-cells for his immune system! :)
Oh Tracey, poor you and poor Starr.
I hope you have better news for us by now. I just saw this thread tonight.

He's still on the medicine until about Friday or Saturday and his left ear seems to be looking a lot better. I hope that after the treatment is over that he'll be cured for good. I have a feeling that he's going to need regular ears cleanings for the rest of his life though.

Glad to hear Starr is better. I hope it stays away after you stop the meds.
