RICHARD

Hey everyone.
The bartender is sick this week. (mental illness aside..)
I took a 'recommended' flu shot this week and guess what???
It's 90 degrees here in CA and I have a fever....I am drinking Rum and Robitussin shots........Where's Gini and her halloween joke???
Threw the robitussin at the coffin and it stopped   :D
Please make yourselves at home......I would like to promise a DOTD but I am afraid of gettting people sick....I am going to lock myself in the lost and found until I feel better....
Carry on!!! :)

 Richard must REALLY be sick if he locked himself in the lost and found!!!! He may not be seen again until spring!!!
I think I'll just grab some hot chocolate for me and some warm cat nip tea for the cats.
Yes, Mario, I'll get you a beer!
Ubassoon, can you and Alexa still see straight after that big drink? :D

I sure can use a warp core myself! I'll drink it as I give last rites to old blue. I was told today that my car has passed away because of a cracked head. I will step back into the wonderful world of car payments!

OK, all this has just got to STOP! People getting sick, people having operations....as an official member of PT, I say NO MORE! Richard, sorry you are ill. I had a flu shot 4 yrs ago and I was bedridden for 2 days. Never again, I said and I've never gotten the flu either. (maybe it's the alcohol that keeps those germs away....) :D
Warp Core! Looks awfully potent but what the heck, I'll take one!
Hi MOFF, Hi David. Sorry about the car but chin up sir. Life is always good on this side of the ground. ;)
Oh yes and BTW, I've brought in a bunch of blankets and pillows for the sickies and those who are recouping. I'll just go out back and bring in some firewood and we can have a nice roaring fire to make us all feel better. :)

Not really, but it made the Vegas strip a lot more fun!
There are 10 oz of liquor in that! So I suggest everyone buddy up :D

Hey Richard if it's the same stuff I had good luck buddy I am just now after 3 weeks feeling human. Praying for ya.
I'll take a hot tea please !
David I understand I have only 5 more payments on my car 3 years is just wrong. (older car too 1995 ouch if your getting new)
That warp core looks like it would power a craft. Glad you guys had fun in Vegas.

I love the Warp Core! I had one the last time I was there and ended up drinking most of it myself. :o
I just sprayed my monitor - my mouse - my keyboard - and now I am off to spray the bar, the bar stools - wash out the bar towels and wipe off the bottles with disinfectant. Won't hurt to give all of these glasses a quick rinse off too.
Richard in the L & F - yikes - he will probably read all of that stuff that we wrote about him on the walls. I was hoping he wouldn't see it until after Christmas at least!!
The FLU..............what an ugly, miserable word! I hope you are feeling much better soon, Richard. I'll throw you some more Robitusin if that coffin won't stop! :D
What's that drink called? A Warp Core...........I think we need Laurie, Slick and I to take a crack at that one - three straws please! I am sure we could work up a good case of the giggles in no time flat.

:D :D Hey, we don't need alcohol. All we have to do is be in the same room together and just look at each other..... :D :D :D
Mario, why don't you slip yourself inside the L & F and see if Richard is OK.

Hey everbody! :)
I really like the idea of that warp core....but unfortunately I think I'll have to take a pass this week....that's all I need to do is get drunk and blow a stitch. ;)
Thanks for wiping everything down, Gini. That's something else that's all I need to do is catch a cold right now, or worse yet, the flu!
I think I'll just have a good hot cup of tension tamer tea with some Brazos Bend wildflower honey and curl up on the couch with you guys for awhile. It's cold, blustery and snowy here tonight - perfect weather for curling up by a good roaring fire with good friends. ;)

Good to see you up and around - at least at Thursdays! It's sunny and 80's in the San Francisco Bay Area! T'was great weather to rock out with the Rolling Stones - those guys STILL can rock! Mick was amazing! Keith looked like death - smoking, playing the guitar and singing all at the same time! A good time was had by all, and most of the rest of San Francisco too. With this clear, warm weather, the sounds from the concert carried all over the City. Many were complaining, I know I would have just sat back and enjoyed it.
David, sorry about your cracked head, er, um I mean old blue's cracked head. Car payments suck.
A nice iced tea sounds good right about now.

It is so cold here tonight so I'll just get me a cup of hot coffee with a little something added to it? Thanks!

Okay, time to re kindle the fire, get another pot of coffee going, and get this place lively again. Richard, you can't be sick too long, it gets nuts in here without you to referee. ;)
Anyone for breakfast? How about blueberry/cream cheese stuffed french toast, with some bacon and sausage?

Did you like the Borg ride? I though the original was much more fun. :)
OMG! Who made this breakfast? It is outrageous, I call this the "hip" breakfast..........because that is exactly where it goes. :D
Has anyone checked on Richard this morning? Maybe he needs some more tissues or Advil or something. Poor guy, but maybe this means he will be well by Thanksgiving and can enjoy the day.
A Mimosa - doesn't that sound good? I will go squeeze some orange juice for us all.

Mmm....a mimosa sounds wonderful, Gini! The perfect topper for that wonderful breakfast! OK, LH, now I really must find someplace that makes blueberry/cream cheese stuffed french toast - they sound absolutely divine!! No whipped cream or powdered sugar for me though - thanks. :)
Terry's home today, so he's working at his desk while I do a bit of work from my laptop. This kind of job I can handle. :D
Bright and crisp and clear here today, emphasis on crisp! Hope everyone has a great day!

Gini, we sent Mario into the L+F but he hasn't come back out yet. As far as breakfast goes, we have an unstated rule in our kitchen......If you're looking for low cal, low carb "Healthy" food, go somewhere else. If I'm here for dinner maybe I'll get a Boiled dinner going over the fire, and some spider cornbread.
A Mimosa sounds great!
David, be careful with the fire, Lady's here with me, she gets nervous if the fire roars too much.

Hey, can someone give me a hand over here please? This box contains 12 bottles of Baileys.....that should do us for the weekend, don't you think? :D  We can keep a few bottles out but the rest should go in the fridge.
LH....Wow...a man who can cook....be still my heart! ;) I'll take a pass on the French Toast but sausage and eggs sounds good to me...oh yes, and one of Gini's Simosas. Gee, did I tell you about the time last July when Gini made me a slushie on my last night there? Boy was that a goooooddddd one...she's not stingy....that bottle was "tipped" pretty good! :D ;)
Hello sweet Lady. How about a slurpy kiss??
Hi Debbie. Good you see you curled up by the fire. **waves** Hi PJ. :)

Good morning all , Man that breakfast smells heavenly Might I have a plate please? I had kind of a 50/50 e-mail from Gina's ark that girl is something else she is in the hospital again after a car accedent very brusied ribs . Haven't heard about how she's being treated but she's too sore to move so I guess thats kind of a good thing. I made her laugh when I told her I'd come and put her in a big plastic bubble. So if you get a chance today think good thoughts for her please.
Hope Richard is feeling better today. Shall we send him a bowl of chicken broth and a big bottle of 7-up?
I hate to eat and run (man that was great food) but hubby home and we are building clysdale rocking horses for neices and nephews (grandbaby too) for christmas.

Hope you feel better soon! We miss the "Life of the Party".
Corinna,

I've suggested that David turn old Blue into a kitty shelter. What cat wouldn't want something like that? Complete with a litterbox trunk, CD player, heat and nice warm buckets seats?? Sounds like a plan to me! ;)

T+P, I can send you the recipe for the breakfast if you want, it just takes some prep the night before then bake it in the morning.
Lady LOVES giving kisses, just all be warned that she gets a little over-enthusiastic at times.
Corinna, one plate of calories and cholesterol coming up. (But MAN it's good stuff)
I think I need to send Gina the bubble wrap that Cathy Bogart sent the horses in so she can wrap herself in it and not get hurt anymore.
How about some grilled cheese made with fresh bread for lunch?
David, thanks for understanding, Lady likes a warm fire, but she runs and hides when it gets going too much.

The electrician has been here for two days and has added a whole bunch of very ugly stuff to my house and it sticks out of the roof...............

I am getting real tired of people at my house all day long. Locked Rascal in a room so he couldn't make a break for it and the little bugger broke down the door - or found a way to get it open. But we had a little talk and he didn't escape.

David, when my wife and I were going out, she had a ford escort. I put a new engine into the car, straightened the unibody (twice) and various and sundry other repairs. I was also maintaining a car (also and escort) for her friend, I wound up putting a head on that, and a few other things as well. The running joke with my friends was that I should start "Fred's escort service".
While driving my wife's car one day, I felt the tranny starting to go. I turned to Jen and told her "I'm not going to give this thing CPR any more, it's done". All Jen and her friends could picture was me giving mouth to mouth to an escort by blowing in the tailpipe! :D

I can answer's that one. Not to the Rainbow Bridge, David. All really good cars retire to Grandpa's woods (or Uncle Buster's) to slowly and gracefully rust back into the earth from which they came.
The rest go to that great big junkyard in the sky!
Right, Lady? Or Lady's Human?

It's foggy and there is a chill in the air that screams out....PUT UP THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS! :D :D That's exactly what I'm going to do this weekend. Then I'm going to curl up by the fire with the furballs and relax. Maybe rent a movie.

Corinna, Ginger Brandy is a Brandy made with ginger root. If you heat it it does a better job of clearing out your sinuses than theraflu.

Just a quick drop in to tell you that I did talk to Richard this morning. He went into the office for just a few hours.
He sounded AWFUL!!!! After hearing him, I don't think any of us want the flu. (he had a flu shot too).
Uh, I am in So. Ca. so I don't think that I am going to say one word about the weather..........................
But it looks as though it is snowing outside the bar and that roaring fire looks great!
Maybe a nice dark rum with pepsi and some lime would hit the spot!

Second possibility is wunna da 2-Leggers!
I brough home a flea or two or three to my apartment in the Southern Tier of
New York many years ago ...
spread em all over the Fire Dept and work before I realized WHAT the problem was!
Both ankles and legs were covered in bites in a few days - and I hadn't been
near a dog or a cat in ages!
Drink?
Better make mine "warm tea".
http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/rolleyes.gif
Hey, Phred is here. Now don't talk his leg off - he probably would enjoy just sitting by the fire quietly and sipping his tea.
Fleas - yeah well, it got cold here and they all disappeared - but just one warm day - and guess who is scratching himself silly. Time for one of those little treatments that he hates. He won't talk to me all day after I use Advantage on him.
LH - thanks for the rum and pepsi and lime. It really did hit the spot!
Tough tooties? Why Laurie - I never!! :D :D
Zip - come on now - you can't be sick with that paper to finish.

We checked Sara but couldn't find a single flea on her; doesn't mean they're not there though! Poor Sid and Kiss have the itchies. :( Regardless, ever'bunny (well, sans Piper) got a bath and frontline.
Ok, I have no more reasons to procrastinate; term paper here I come...
Oh wait! I could go make Phred his tea, first! ;) :p

Phred, One tea, coming up. Go over and sit by the fire, it's nice and toasty. Moosmom, can you make some room for him over there?
The beernuts have been replaced by pumpkin seeds, we just got done putting up enough pumpkin for eight pies, the seeds have to go somewhere, they're now roasted and lightly salted. Mario, no spitting them, they're not watermelon seeds

Nice weather for a good pot of Chai tea, Phred, I'll share some with you, too. I have some really nice chai with an elephant on the box that is Kashmiri chai, and as we drink it, let's say a prayer for all those in that earthquake-stricken area, and be thankful for our nice warm fire. It's okay, Lady, come over by me, and I'll protect you from the scary fire. Phred's a firefighter guy, too, so he won't let it get you, and I bet if you ask real nice, he's got a biscuit in his pockets somewhere for good dogs.

Most of the others haven't met Lady in person (dogson?) like I have, so they don't know that her coat isn't as coarse as either a Lab's or a Dalmatian's, somehow in her swim through the gene pool, she ended up with a velvety soft coat. Hard head, but soft coat! Of course, Corinna's Newfies make Lady look practically nekked by comparison ...

I would gladly trade for the grooming chores. I am working on a sweater coat for my self from this years shed. Funny how I'm the only one in the neighborhood to have a black fuzzy yard.
I did add in Dog general a few pics of the goofy twosome .

ha ha... caught you!
We just took my little Collar[flower] dog into the groomers for PoopiePants and heavy undercoat mats. YUCK! Groomer did an excellent job but did mention that fleas will now attempt to grab onto anything that's going into the warmth. I'm on my NEW computer at home at look at me.. 4:30 a.m. and I'm just getting started. EEEEYAH! Well, actually I'm about to go bring in some logs from the back and stoke up the fire. Oh that tea sounds purrfect, think I'll have some waiting when I come back in. Sorry guys/gals.. I'm just so excited to be able to get up whenever and check in at PetTalk :D

ACHOOOOOOO!!!!!
Don't mind me. I've got a cold. I'll just fix a nice hot cup of tea with honey and lemon then join Richard and Mario in the l&f. Don't want to spread germs.
Good thing I have a dr appt Monday!
moff looks around at the empty bar: Gosh do I know how to clear a room or what!!!
WACHOOOOOO!! SNIFFLE! SNORT!
MOFF, we had a case of Kleenex tissues and Mario took the whole case into the L&F for Richard. Here are some more.
Sure hope the sniffles dry up soon and the cold goes away.
Can I make you another cup of tea?

MOFF, I'm so sorry you are feeling under the weather. Here....I went shopping yesterday and bought some "man size" kleenex. They are big enough and soft enough for the most distinctive of noses. Feel better, hon.
Well, my tree is up but no lights yet. I was out this morning and spending too much time in the kitchen on food prep this afternoon. Must get at least 3 strands on before dinner. I counted and I'll have at least 600 lights on my tree....it's 6' high. So, I'll grab a BM and get my backside in gear.
Have a good week ahead everyone. :)

I'm trying to fight that cold too . Thanks to my wonderful son. What is with this winter I'm never sick . Now in 4 weeks 2 cases of flu and a clod. Maybe hubby was right just too much stress at work this summer and it's just all hitting me after I slowed down. Lots of tea ,vit c,zinc, and vit e.
I did get my christmas cards printed now to address them. I'll sit away over on the far side of the fire place. Oh lady how nice did I need my face washed. I think my lady is part anteater, tongue is at least6 ft long.

Corinna, being that Lady just wandered into the bar with me this week and no one besides the Mayors know her, Let me introduce her to Thursday's.
I posted Lady's story once before, but I'll have another go at it for the thursday's crowd.
After Jen and I bought a house, I wanted a dog. Part of our deal was that after we got a house, I could get one. After looking at area puppy sales and finding nothing but the products of puppy mills and BYB's, I started looking in area shelters online. (Partially at the prodding of our mayor). One shelter was close by, so I loaded up a magic pocket, and went for a ride. When I got there, there were Dal puppies, too young to adopt, and a couple problem dogs (No kids, no cats, etc) and one scrawny black and white puppy, about 6 months old, who practically jumped out of her cage at me. I asked about her, took a leash, and we went for a "walk" (It was more of a romp, because she had NO leash manner at the time)
She glommed onto me and I asked about bringing Jen to meet her, and we filled out the adoption paperwork the same day. She was cute, about 40 lbs, and her ears were twice the size of her head, with one that folds, and one that wrinkles. We were told she was a "Lab mix", but we've since seen pics of Lab/Dal mixes, and that seems to fit the bill.
We've spent the ensuing six years curing her leash manners (they're still atrocious, but manageable), dealing with her various neuroses (don't even MENTION the word shelter around her) and cleaning up her shredded piles of Kleenex that she leaves behind to let us know she's being ignored and she's upset. She is VERY enthusiastic about everything, no half measures for this mutt. You're assumption about the face wash is correct, Corinna, once she starts she doesn't stop until you've had a proper puppy bath. She has lost weight since we moved to NY (more room to run), and she weighs about 65 lbs. She has recently acquired a "boyfriend" from the farm across the street, who she outweighs by about 20 lbs and is constantly putting him in his place.
Lady, you sure have that gorgeous shiny coat of a Lab.
I bet you DO have a boyfriend (or two or three).
I could take a good face washing any time.............I consider it the highest of compliments (if, of course, it comes from a dog!)
Let's see we have Mario - Possum and Lady...........now what would happen if I just happened to drop by with Rascal?  (big 'ol orange tabby).
I took Rascal once to our vet clinic for his shots - he was in his carrier and a huge Great Dane came up and stuck his nose right up to the carrier windows.
Rascal simply wet all over himself. I felt so sorry for him - and me too because I was scurrying to clean it all up.
Maybe I should just leave him at home and tell him stories and show him pictures. :D :D

Lady's human May I tell you our ladys story? It's not quite as sad as your lady's but still pretty much she was supposed to be ours.
Our daughter worked ad the dollar store in town, she would meet all kinds of poeple. One little old lady just loved making conversation, one day she asked if Clarissa had kids. At the time Clarissa was living with (we called him the ghoul) Let's call him A , and they had 2 cats. she called them her kkids (my grandkitties) the lady then mentioned her newfy cross dog, she needed to find a home for,her grandkids (all under the age of 6 ) were living with her as their father was working in Texas (mom out of the pic) Lady was so excitable and only 9 months old she didn't mean to but she kept knocking the kids down. Well at the time we were looking in to getting bronze full blood Newf. Phone rings daughter talks to dad, after wards turns to me let's go for a ride. What!!! as I'm in the car we had Merlin and were going to wait for what Tim wanted. well we pull up to this hous and it's back yard is nothing but ice and mud fenced about a 100x100 yard. There is a shepard mix too. It's the kids dog and didn't jump on them. Lady explains that she had gotten Our lady and her golden sister(hubby about cried he wanted a gold one) as wal=mart puppies they were only 5 weeks old (accordding to her vet. still had to be weaned she pan fed then. She had given away the other dog a couple weeks ago. after playing and watching Lady a while Tim stand s up and says well lets get her leashed and in the car. I'm sitting with my mouth open . I should not have been surprised it was much as the first newfy we got. thats a story too . I'll tommorrow find a buddy picture and write his story. So for almost 51/2 years we've had the party girl as to leash manners she's better than Dugan but I really have to make sure the training collars are on when I take the two for a walk. 300 LBS of dog is a bit much for a 5'2" woman to deal with sometimes. Dugans stroy is much more dramatic but I'll tell it later.
I'm glad youe lady found you and she is so lovely looking. Karen says she's very soft coated too how unusual for the 2 breeds sure maybe not reteiver in there?
My husband is 6'5" tall and has a saying if you have to bend to pet it it's not a dog (no one get mad he really loves all dogs he just LOVES large dogs and his excuse to get them past me) so we have large-giant dogs. Merlin my RB springer was close to being too small. But he was my christmas gift.

Lady's pictures are gorgeous, what a wonderful glossy coat she has. My mother- and father-in-law used to have the sweetest labrador who was terrible on the leash. She would pull you along and make noises like she was choking (well she probably was)! I remember being out for a walk wth her once and a wee boy shouting to my FIL "Hey Mister! Has that dog got asthma?" Very embarrasing.
Has Richard come out of the L&F yet? It can't be healthy to be in there so long. He needs fresh air!

Wow, what a party you guys are having this week!
Lady's Human - thanks SO much for the recipe! I will probably test it out this weekend. :D
Debbie - it is all Richard's fault. I think we were so worried about him locked up in the L & F - that we all just hung around to check on him.
Here they were in there playing checkers the whole time!

At least I can sleep well. In fact, I can hardly stay awake.
