Hello!! There is a dog at the animal shelter and everybody always asks us what breeds he is...and we honestly have no idea, anybody have any guesses?
He is about 12-14 inches tall and weighs 32 pounds and is full grown, they currently have him listed as a shepherd/husky mix

I was trying to think of a smaller sized dog that he could be mixed with...possibly sheltie??? I have no idea...it'll be interesting to see what you guys think...

He definetly looks like he has Lab in him. I'd say Lab/Border Collie.

Lol, yeah, our shelter is absolutely HORRIBLE at naming mixes...I'm actually really surprised they didn't call this one a pit mix. Everything to them is a pit/lab or a pit/shepherd and that usually scares off potential adopters :( I would agree he looks like he has some whippet in him, I think they were saying shepherd because of his coloration...thanks guys

Our shelter is the same. Everything is mixed with Pit or Chow, which is really funny to me because neither breed is really common around here. Labs are especially common here and I would think most of our shelter dogs are mixed with them because, unfortunately, most Labs nowadays come from bad places that don't require neutering :(

Yeah, pits aren't that common here either, labs and beagles dominate the shelter though :( Yesterday at the adoption event we had 4 big black lab mixes adopted, I was soooo excited, plus a blue-ticked coonhound found a home and a german wirehaired pointer. It was a VERY good day :D

Yellow Lab/Whippet! Those ears are Whippet-ish, and Whippets come in many colorations, and are a much smaller dog than Labs, which would account for his delicate size.

I do not see either Shepherd or Husky in him, especially given his size, but in any case, he sure is a cutie! :)

around here everyone always tries to mix labs in with everything! Since people really have no consept of SHAPE, and labs can bee three colors, you could say anything looks like a lab mix. Our shelters really are overflowing with SWEET pits :(

Usually it's acurrate, though, because Labs are SO popular and are bred by BYBs who don't care where there dogs go. So they aren't often neutered and they produce mixed breeds.

that would make sense

lots of dogs are not mix-breeds but mutts meaning they have several different breeds in their ancestry, not just a mix of 2 breeds

anyway, if I had to guess 2 breeds I would probably guess lab x jack :)
