Extremely Urgent Phred Needs Our Prayers
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just got a phone call from someone that Phred asked to call me and Phred has had a heart attack and is in the ICU at Forum Health Northside Hospital in Youngstown Ohio.
He has had a heart cath and they repaired the major blockage in his heart - he is stable now but the first 24 hours are the critical hours.

The person I talked to (Tim) said he had just got back into his room. I am definatly not going to try to call him now but I will try Sunday.
Lift him up in the healing thoughts and prayers.
Thank you.

Well, we all know what a wonderful person he is so I am sure he will have PT prayers going double time for him. He will be in my prayers for sure and will stay there! He is such a "go getter", going above and beyond what anyone else does to keep us as informed as he possiably can on every siutation. I think this calls for a PT Cyber Get Well card but unitl I get time to make it
GET WELL SOON PHRED! WE NEED YOU HERE AND YOU ARE MISSED!!! Laura and Babies

I posted this on general but I figure, God can't hear it enough:
Lord, the prayer pups and kat are at a loss for words right now. Their beloved daddy is in the hospital. I would like to offer a prayer for him on their behalf. They need him so much and so do we on Pet Talk.
Please keep angels surrounding him and his doctors and heal him and return him to all who love and need him. Thank you. Amen. :(
Ps: please forgive the tears.

Gini just phoned me with the news (my home computer still isn't working, i'm on my grandsons). A candle is lit in my window and I'm in tears. Oh Phred... please heal yourself as you have helped to heal others.

This is my update:
I called the hospital - and as I suspected in a bigger hospital there are no phones in the ICU patient rooms. I talked to his nurse and I told her that I know I can't talk to him and I know with HIPPA she can't tell me anything but she cofirmed he was ok. AND she promised she would relay the message that that I called and that we are thinking and praying for him. So this is all we have until he is able to get out and call us himself.
keep the prayers coming!
and Jo called earlier then I did and this is what she found out.
I just got off the phone with John's nurse. According to him, he is awake and oriented x 3- which is a great thing. No phone in the room, so, I couldn't get to speak to John. Of course, I started bawling on the phone with the nurse, and he said, "He is going to be fine, honey. If he keeps it up, we are going to have to kick him out of here."
Of course, I took that as a huge sign that God is working his miracle on our friend.
I told him to tell John that I called, and that a whole bunch of people are praying for him.
BTW, that phone number originally posted doesn't appear to be working. So, I would ask that you call the hospital main number at 330-884-1000, and ask for the Medical Intensive Care Unit. Once John gets transferred to a room, I am sure they will give him a telephone.

Here's a picture of Phred and Cinder and Smoke! Just thought the ones who have never seen this would like to see it.

Thank you so much Staci for posting this on the cat side for us .... I am so bad about not going to General often enough, and I would have hated to miss this! I am so glad to hear the encouraging update on him as well!
Sending prayers that God will continue to work a miracle in our special PT friend and return him home soon to his loving companions!

I called the hospital - took me 11 min. to get through to someone in his unit. I spoke to Phreds good firefighter friend Pat, he really is nice - have known Phred since about 76. He persuaded Phred to come along to the hospital, together with his brother Tracy? who is in the MT. They were ready to force him if neccesary. Phred was in his driveway at the time it happened - thank God! He had a very high BP he told me. He also said they started him on IV's - whatever that is.
He said it was a close encounter and a major warning, and that Phred is not completely out of the woods, so please keep sending all your prayers and good thoughts! Phred is awake and conscious about what's going on, the nurses are great, and he has got his color back, and is only getting liquid for nutrition so far. He will be going on a diet. When he gets a room of his own, he will probably have to stay for about 10 days.
Cinder, Smoke, Bowser and Boots are well cared for, and Phred is in a good spirit - joking like always :)
Pull through this, Phred!! ... even if you do have to stop smoking, and eating healthy. We're all rooting for you!!
I believe Phred needs some piece and quiet, but I'm sure he'll be happy to have messages passed on. :)

He also said they started him on IV's - whatever that is.
IV's (short for IntraVenous) is when they give him nutrients and fluids intravenously, through a needle stuck into his veins.

Thank you Randi for the recent update. THANK GOD that someone was with him at the time this happened. I shudder to think what could have happened if he were alone.
I'm glad to hear he is in good spirits and joking around.
Please Phred listen to what the doctors tell you. You will have to make some major changes, for the better. PT needs you around for a long, long time and so do your dawgs and of course Boots.
Prayers still on the way.
