I took Maggy to PetsMart for their Howl-o-ween party last week. There was a lady there with a cat bigger than my 22 pound Sammy! I couldn't believe it when I saw him. Granted, he was dressed in a cute little costume, so I thought that had a lot to do with how big he looked. But, his meowmie took off his little outfit and there was still a lot of cat there!

I took pictures to share with you all.

Here he is with his lil' costume on.

And when I went to talk with her, she took his costume off and held him up for me. He's so handsome, but is he healthy?

What breed is he? Perhaps that has something to do with his size -- did the owner say he'd always been a big cat? Still -- @ 30 lbs he weighs as much as my two-year-old daughter!

What breed is he?

She said he was half Maine Coon and half tabby. I know Maine Coons are big cats, but not just big, he's fat!

Aww, the images aren't loading for me. Maybe its just my computer but I tried refreshing and, nothing! :(

While working at my Petco though a man would come in with his purebred Maine Coon and this cat was HUMONGOUS!! I didn't think they got that big!! And he wasn't overweight, just all muscle!! :o

30 Pounds does not sound healthy at all, even for a Maine Coon.
That puts a lot of pressure on a Cats heart, and leaves him open to diabetes.
I hope that that poor Cat,will be put on a light food, for his own good.

I can't see him, either :( .

That seems awfully heavy for a cat, though..........

If you're using FireFox then nothing shows up because Firefox uses ALT tags to replace broken or missing images whereas Internet Explorer shows the red x for broken or missing images and shows the ALT text as a tooltip.. silly IE always does things backwards!

That cat is OBESE.

When I was living in Tenerife, there was a cat in my complex that was so fat, his belly was bald from draging on the ground as he walked. He had a collar that said in spanish, english, and german "please do not feed me". He used to howl and scream when he saw someone eating, and try to snatch food away from you. It was crazy. :(

Thank you! That worked for me. I don't think it's healthy for a kitty to be that round. My Mom has a kitty who is pretty close to 30 pounds. It's sad to see him that way. She and the vet have had him on several diets but have given up because they have 5 cats and 1 dog in the house. Unless they lock Grey-Boy up all by himself, he runs off the other cats and the dog from their dishes and eats all of their food! I'm afraid he won't have a long life but so far no diabetes or anything like that.

While 30 pounds is large for a cat, I have also seen very large cats at cat shows that are Maine Coons, although I don't think any of them were 30lbs!

Some people think its "cute" or try to have the "biggest" or whatever  IMHO 30 pounds for ANY cat is a little too much. She really needs to put him/her on a diet, for the cats health and well being.....but sadly you can't tell people what to do  :o

He is definitely obese! Cute, but obese!
Poor cat, he has a high risk for many health problems when getting older :(
