What do you do for a cat with a fever?

My SIL claims that her cat has a fever. I'm not sure how she knows this but that's just what's she saying. She called me asking what she could do . . . she doesn't want to call the vet today

She asked if she could give Clipper a baby Asprin and I said NO . . . but I'm not sure if it would be safe or not. I'm just guessing not.

I found this article online.. perhaps it can help? http://www.judithstock.com/Speaking_of_Animals/Fever_in_Cats/fever_in_cats.html

When Halo had a very high fever due to a reaction to an innoculation, the vet bathed her in cool water for a while. They also gave her another injection (I can't remember what) that helped, but the cool water lowered her temperature relatively quickly. She wasn't very happy about it, but it worked.

Aspirin I have heard,is bad for Cats,Baby or Not.
I would have to say, that I have never had this happen, and I pray that the White Coats can help.
We are praying for Clipper to get well.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I did read that asprin & tylonel is dangerous for kitties . . . potentially deadly. (thanks Jessika for the article!) I called and told her. I really think that she's over-reacting. She's a drama queen.

But thanks anyways . . . I knew that I could find some reassurance here! :)
