I'm so excited! :D I found a couple pairs that I'll be able to spawn!

I found a breeder who has some awesome Bettas available. I'm picking up a pair of Steel Blue Halfmoon siblings and a pair of Opaque White Halfmoon siblings! :D

Here are the parents:

If I spawn the steel blue siblings, I'll get Steel blue and Melano (black). I've always adored both colors!

[dies] Watch it, Ashley, I might just steal those opaques from you. :D My gosh, they're gorgeous! so are the steelies!

I sooo wish my parents would let me have one of the babies [if you spawn them] but they definitely wont. I have three bettas right now, and another on the way- but that must be nothing compared to what you have! how many does this bring you to?

Congratulations! :]

I'm getting them from a local breeder in BC. Here's his website: http://members.shaw.ca/aguadebeber/

I'd be glad to send you a baby (or two, or three :p) if you'd like. I'm not sure how shipping would work out but I'm sure we could figure something out.

:D I'm at 11 right now - six males and five females. So.. with the steel HMs and opaque white HMs, I'll be at 15. I'm running out of living room space to put them in! LOL

OMFG Ashley, they're gorgeous!! Opaques are amazing, so are melanos, and steel blues :p... my Melano girl is definitely one of the prettiest Bettas I've ever had. I might have to steal one of those babies =0)

gahh, *someone* caught the spawn bug!

Those are beautiful Bettas! However, I don't want to disapoint you on something I feel I should mention. White Bettas are the "normal" original color of bettas. They are mostly white in the country of origin. They were breed to have colors for "flashier" fights. :(
I am just saying this so you don't run the risk of getting "ripped off". Not that I wouldn't want them myself and I do!!! ;) Just be careful in believing the "hype" the breeder may be giving you. ;) They could be "imported".
My father was a Betta breeder. We'd have tanks everywhere! However, I will agree that the all white ones were a "rarity" to have.

hrm.. actually, thats not really true Scooby. If all of the wild type Bettas were white, they'd be much more noticable to predators and such. Wild Bettas are very short-finned and VERY bland colored, usually brown.

Opaques are actually super hard to get! Especially with such nice finnage! Opaques are actually Steel Blue, Green, or Blue Bettas with a very thick powedery white pigment... they aren't just "white". ANY tiny flaw is super noticable on Opaques, so it takes a ton of work to get offspring with no flaws or red or blue wash visable.

Yes, I am ridiculously obsessed with Bettas :)
