I'm wondering what to do for Bonnie's birthday this year.
She will be 1 year old soon.
When the kids were young we would bake a cake for our former dog and send out general invitations to all the neighborhood kids. Whoever would sing happy birthday to him could have cake and ice cream. Our kids are grown now so that's not going to work. Besides everyone looks at me like I'm crazy for mentioning the dog's birthday.
What do some of you do to celebrate? Surely some of you do don't you? Or am I crazy?

No, you are not crazy! I know a bunch of us here at Pet Talk celebrate their furkids' birthdays. I like the idea of inviting the neighborhood kids to sing Happy Birthday to the dog. I will have to remmeber that one when I have kids of my own one day.
We celebrate Drake's birthday with a fun filled day of activities he likes (luckily, his birthday is in June). Swimming, hiking, etc... And top it off with a cookout with friends in his honor. Of course, he gets a huge home cooked steak and I give him a cupcake.

Perry's birthday is on the fourth of July so we have a big one for him.
We invite his Schnauzer cousins and all the family to a b.b.q. on that day. We decorate in 4th of July decorations and birthday decorations and we have presents for him, and special doggie ice cream for the pups. They all have a good time and we do too.
Daisy's birthday is in June and we also concentrate on things she likes to do, usually we take them to the park, give them doggie ice cream and of course she gets plenty of presents too.

Louie gets new toys and TENNIS Balls, (Can never have TOO many of those ya know) and then we get him a "Special Doggie Burger" from McDonalds and celebrate with his Grandma and Great Grandma, (My Mother and Grandma) Sometimes we take him on an outing to all the businesses in the area that give doggie treats, unless I've had a chance to pick-up some 3 Dog Bakery items.... We basically spoil him MORE that day than any other...and BELIEVE me He is one spoiled BRAT.;)
When one of my dogs has a birthday, I spend the whole day with them. We go to the pet store and buy a lot of presents, stop by the dog park, go to friends' houses, etc. I just try to keep them happy all day long. But that isn't much different from our usual days :D
OHHH can't believe I forgot to say this.
Bonnie is beautiful!!!!
She looks like a lab/chow mix. Is that what she is? I have an incredibly soft spot for lab/chow mixes. Every one that I have met has been gorgeous and sweet mannered.

Here is a link to the doggie birthday party I had for my Dixie when she turned 4. We had 13 dogs over (7 of them were her puppies) and a Aunt and a Brother!

I do pretty much the same as Aly, with Hannah we go shopping buy lots a treats take a nice car ride and go out to lunch. Then we do her fave things.
Copper isn't allowed to go shopping anymore (untill he's over his indoor phobia, long story) so we go for a car ride and stop and get ice cream and I go in and pick him out lots a treats and we do his fave things. We also have a Happy Rescue day for Copper (the day I brought him home) and we spend the day the three of us doing his fave things.

I usually give the dogs toys and lotsa love, and last year I think I was doing something agility wise with Smudge which he loves and for Winter's birthday we were at class so she was loving it because all the people we take classes with think she's a doll.
