No, it's not a good idea to give cats milk, they should only get milk from their mother.

Kirsten, who is also a member here, has a very good and infomative site where you can get a lot of info. See this: http://www.catmom.de/engl/milch.html

IF I HAVE A GLASS,OF MILK,SCRAPPY 2,MICHAEL,PRINCESS,AND SAM,WILL STICK,THIER NOSES IN,AND DRINK.
WHEN I WAS YOUNG,MY MOM GAVE THE CATS MILK,ON A REGULAR BASIS.
AND NONE,OF THESE CATS,SHOWED ANY ILL EFFECTS.

I DONT,THINK,THAT IT CAN BE ALL THAT BAD,FOR THEM.

Welll I give Clayton and Morgan just a smidgen of milk every morning. They like it and are no worse for wear. it is so little that it barely touches the bottom of a bowl.. but it past of their morning routine. Jesse James wants to be like the big boys so I bought a Cat's milk supplement in Pet Smart. HE Loves it. Tucker doesn't drink milk at all.

peoples milk isnt all that good for cats it really messes with there tummy but if you go to a pet smart or something they have cats milk and its not that much it would be much better for them and it can be for older cats to  hope that helps ya

Our Riley gets so excited when he sees me pouring a glass of skin milk to drink!! He paces on the table, purrs, churtles, and meows!!! Before I can put the glass on the table, he has his nose in the cup and is lapping up a storm. Riley has NEVER had any ill effects from the skim milk, and always looks forward to sharing my glass with him(or is he sharing his glas with me??!!)

Hi KB,
My Clayton and Morgan started yapping, purring and talking as soon as I open the fridge in the mornings. While I am getting my Java.. I HAVE to ask them if they want their "milk". Let the talking" begin. Before milk goes into my cup.. it has to go into their bowls... and little Jesse James gets his cat milk supplement.
I don't think this little bit of milk is going to hurt them. I think that they have be wrapped tightly around their paws.. I like it that way.
If I thought that I was hurting them in any way I wouldn't give it to them. But the wee bit that they get I don't think is harming them.

No tummy upsets from my boys.:p

I have heard that milk is not good for cats. However, when I am done with a bowl of cereal I usually let them finish the little bit of milk that's left, they love that. :)

One of mine will drive me crazy if she doesn't get a little milk every night at bedtime. I give her about 2 Tablespoons with a little water and she hasn't had any problems. A very little only. Some cats might have diarhea from it. I'm trying to add a little more water every night. I like to know she's getting some liquids.
