Here's the deal for this Thursday...

If you opened this thread you HAVE to post.

Check in an let us know that you are O.K...There's alot of 'stuff' going on on the planet and I think it's time to stop for a second and join us for a little mirth...

Mirth is legal in all 50 states and is highly addictive.

It's an open bar and we can pretty much get you anything you want.

Here's the first quarter in the jukebox..

"It's not Unusual" by Tom Jones.....something to make everyone laugh.:D ;) :p :)

OK, I've opened up this thread so I guess I will post. Not a good day at work....server down......users with nothing to do until the server is rebuilt.....people complaining.....wwwhhhaaaaa.....

Enough ranting. I'm in a good mood and all will be well in the garden. Right Chauncey???;)

So, I think maybe we should get Gini to bring in Rupert and show him around the place. Maybe he can work his magic over by the bar. I'll be happy to empty his "little container." :D :D I wonder what Mario will think of him??

New Orleans get's struck again and here we are enjoying ourselves in the bar. A toast and some prayers to all those in the path of Rita.

  Richard, is that a broken hip....or are you trying to imitate TJ??? :D :D

Edit: Can we please say a few prayers for Kelly. She's in hospital again. :( :(

Ok, here I am.
Prayers on the way for Kelly for sure!

I can use a few good thoughts myself. Got a doctor's appointment tomorrow afternoon. He's supposed to specialize in pain managment. I'm sure hoping he can help. My arthritis has been really bad latley.

Looks like we may get some Rita left over's later in the week too.

HI, Mario!

4 catnip teas for the critters please, and a large cherry vanilla coke for me. (funny, I typed that cherry vanilla cook at first) :D

Yikes, I got caught peeking in at the Thursday's bunch. And how come Thursday's is starting on Wednesday?

Golly, Richard, you do play the *oldies*. That song is from my era. As for a drink, make mine Pomagranite juice. I'm still working.

Howdy friends!

Well so far, I'm alive :p and thats good.

Waking up is the first step right? :D Things are going a bit better. The move is stressing everyone out but at least we get a better place (with a garage, so I can tinker with the Festiva at all hours of the day or night!).

The cats are getting antsy with all the boxes about. Remus and Spook seem kind of depressed about the whole situation, although they were playing this morning and trust me I was thrilled! They haven't played at all since the eviction notice came. Onyx is oblivious, he thinks we've brought the boxes in to build him an amusement park  . I think all of them though could use a CNT or two. I could use a double...anything is ok with me!

I'd like to take a moment of silence and prayer for everyone going through difficult times all the world over.

PLUR to everyone!

Hey everybody! Gee, it's good to be back at Thursdays. :D At the rally last week we had Happy Hour everyday, so I was definitely keeping up with the alcohol intake, just missed the atmosphere and company. :D

Life is good here in my little corner of the world. Just wish that was the case for the rest of the world.

Here's a toast to to better days for those who are having bad days, and a toast to good days for those who are having good days. :)

LOL

Yes, prayers on the way for Kelly and just for everyone who needs them. There is just so much going on right now it seems.

Could I have mojito please?

DJ, I'm meeting Amberlee for lunch today...so finally the CD will be in hand!

I've opened the thread, so here I am.

I just got back from having a root canal and I went by the store afterwards, to fill a prescription. People around here are buying up all the water and batteries they can before Rita hits. Amazing since we're 170 miles from the coast.

I'll have a DotD, please. :)

PC, I'll take a frozen 'rita. Just got bad news about our friend with prostate cancer (see General) so there's one more to add to the prayer list. :(

Funny how life can go from good to bad in the wink of an eye. :(

After much crying and frustration today it's finally a happy ending. For those of you who don't know what i'm talking about, go view my most recent thread in Dog General. I was so worried as to what would lye ahead for this sweet dog.

I'll take a virgin slushie and I have homemade corn & black bean salsa to pass around. :)

I just read the entire thread, Kay. Since your mom was adamant that you couldn't keep her, I'm so glad you found her home. If your mom had agreed to keep her, I'd be heart broken that you found her home. I can't believe how similar her and Ki were and how well they got along. Since I don't make it to the dog side very often, it was really quite difficult for me to tell the two apart - even after you showed her with the collar you put on. :o

I will definitely join you in finishing off that salsa, and make it a full blown slushie for me - green please - thanks. :)

However, Rupert IS here, alive, well and awaiting my next command.

OK I will comply with Richard's rules of Thursdays, although I know there really are no rules here, just a good place to peek in for some upliftment (is that a word?) It's been a ROUGH week; everyone I know is having a hard time at work (including me) - must be the fall equinox or the planets are misalligned, or we could just blame it on George Bush  or global warming. I keep telling myself, this too shall pass.

Mishi went to the vets for a follow-up ultrasound on Tuesday. No change in his kidneys although they did see the beginnings of a bladder stone, so the vet is changing his diet to Science Diet XD (instead of the KD he's been on). He's also lost about half a pound, they think - he was so rambunctious at the vet's office that they had a hard time getting him to sit still to get an accurate weight on him. He now has a rep at the vet .... poor guy. I still love my big goon, even though he is expen$ive to keep around. .... Except for his shaved belly, he seems fine to me and he likes the new food.

So, before the attorneys come in from court and start beating me up again, I'll have some whipped cream on a cuppa.

Now to get back to the brief .... groan. Is it Friday yet, anywhere on the planet?

gini
09-22-2005, 12:04 PM
Gee, and I thought it was just me that was having a bad week.

Maybe I do need a slushie to get this day in proper gear!

REPEAT AFTER ME: THIS IS GOING TO BE A GREAT DAY!!

Oh Mario - bless your little heart - a hug and a kiss.......and you are going around to everyone and giving them one too?

Aren't you something else?

Since I was curious enough to open this, I'll check in also. :)

First I want to send healing thoughts to Debbie & Terry's friend, to Kelly and to Moff. :( And hopefully Rita won't be too bad!!

I've had a much needed relaxing day, Susanne and I went for a walk in the churchyard (as we often do) and said Hi to John - the whole grave is covered in flowers. :) We gave his friend next to him a drink of water too.

Now, that I've had my dinner, I could do with a good cup of coffee [SIZE=1]and perhaps one of Slick's Bailey's. ;)

Fister is still being very demanding, he has even started coming under the duvet to get more attention! :) Oh, just as I mentioned his name, he's calling for me, so until next time .....

slick
09-22-2005, 01:17 PM
Now to get back to the brief
 Did someone say briefs??? They are better than boxers! :D ;)

Repeat....
It's going to be a good day
It's going to be a good day
It's going to be a good day

I've made some more Bailey's. Help yourselves. Gini, do you still have those plastic bottles from the BBQ? Hang on to them for next year.

Sending more prayers for those in need...

Poor Mishi boy...I'll just have to go into that vets office and tell them what a sweet kitty he really is!! :D

Now I have a question for you Thursdays patrons...

I create a comic called "It Sucks to be You". It is crudely drawn (Half because I can't draw worth a crud and half because it actually makes it funnier) but it is quite hilarious. It's about two roomates and the life they lead, based on my whacko life I've got going on here. I'm experimenting with drawing them on the computer and I was wondering if any of you all would like to see? I'd post them on here, but some of the topics covered I'll admit aren't even appropriate for the Dog House ;).

Please post here if you'd like me to PM you a copy of the first ones done on computer. I'll be more than happy to start making this a weekly or bi-weekly thing if the interest is high enough.

Just trying out a little of my off-brand humor on the general public :) Hopefully it goes over well!

Ummmm...now that I'm done shamelessly promoting myself...do I have to pay a Thursdays advertisement fee  :D

I'll take a Slushie, that really sounds great. I have been out shopping for the house, well looking at carpet, even though it is not ready for that yet! Still fun looking.

Willie:)

Sorry I missed the party yesterday. I just now skimmed through the posts since I'm required to add to the thread.

We started CERT training earlier this week. (Citizen's Emergency Response Team). Its a FEMA endevour (there's got to be a joke there somewhere) - but seriously, it has to do with the fact that we can't always count on the trained professionals to be there in case of a major emergency or disaster so its training on disaster preparedness.

Is there still a DOTD out there somewhere? If not, a Baileys sounds good too.:D

pssst, Julie - over here! Allow me to fix you up with a drink-eroo. We have some slushies, Slick's Bailey's, the usually non-alcohol choices and I think someone opened some champaign for a Mimosa or two. Let's play pot luck and see what we get! I'm part of the ERT squad at work as well. If anybody needs help at the next BBQ you and I can take turns helping the firemen.. if we end up having to give them mouth to mouth well HEY! Just keeping in practise :D

Fresh peas - sounds good! Reminds me of my cats when they keep returning to sniff a spot ... and as for the peas .... now I've got that "I scream, you scream, we all scream for green beans" jingle going through my head.

I think I need a slushie!

I have a moral question for you all...

What do you do when you feel like crud and you want to leave work (and you've got paid leave) but everyone else decided to leave and YOU'RE the only one there?

Sigh...I want to just say eff it and close up shop but I know the second I do, SOMEONE will complain.

I hate feeling icky :(

Well, I guess since I did open this thread......;)

I'm glad this trip is almost over. I've been in OK for over a week, and it's time to go home to the family finally. I just hope Rita stays far enough offshore not to screw up my flight.

DJF,

I used to work with w guy who had a change of schedule in for the whole summer so he could "adjust" to daylight savings time. Just tell 'em you couldn't adjust to the clock change. :D

Bartender, I'll take an Irish Coffe, and I even brought an extra bottle of bailey's so slick won't be too put off.

Actually since it's the first hot weekend downunder, and the footy finals are on. I've cleaned up the bbq, and have decided to do some sate beef kebabs, served on jasmin rice with a fresh garden salad.:D

It's also hot, so better drink some more beer.:D

I looovee hummus. I've never tried any store bought hummus, i've always just made it.

2 cans of garbonzo beans, a few dashes of olive oil, lots of garlic. ;)

Anyone want a dog? Specifically a dog named Nala?
Was sleeping peacefully on my bed with Nala. My bed is against the wall and Nala was sleeping on that side with her back to me. Decides to stretch and push her legs against the wall. In the meantime she pushes her back against me and I go flying off the bed, bashing my foot on the dog crate next to it.

GOOD MORNING! :p

Sorry for being a dufus (oh, that was last week) but what exactly is hummus? Is it good?

PJ's Mom
09-25-2005, 03:30 PM
Hummus is a paste/spread/dip (whatever you want to call it ) made out of garbonzo beans and flavored with things like garlic, olive oil, red peppers, etc. It's quite tasty, but I hate the premade hummus. Making it yourself makes it taste much rmore fresh and you can control things like salt, sugar, etc. :)

What she said. ;)

I make mine with LOTS of garlic, cold and spread on warm toasted pita bread. Mmmmm.

Hummus is sooooooooooo yummy. :D Its a Middle Eastern/Greek dip/spread made out of garbanzo beans, tahini (sesame seed paste), olive oil, and other 'flavors' are added. Really good. I like to make it too. I actually never knew 'non-Arabs' eat it so much until I joined PT. :o

hey ya'll
Sorry I haven't checked in....

It's been a busy weekend.

It was work and plumbing and sweeping and trash....

I see that you are all doing the hummus thing...

MMMM...Good.

I have to apologize for being cranky this week.

This hurricane stuff drains me...

I also had my yearly eval this week, got into a shout out contest with the "boss" and there are some other things that have been on my mind lately.

Who knew my pinhead could hold so much info?????

I hope you all know that you should feel free to hang out and pour your troubles away when the 'bartender' isn't around....

------------------
I just hope that that Rita hasn't troubled anyone and that you are all safe and sound.

Party on guys and I am still trying to get myself in sync with being back to tend bar...

You all rock!
