:) What would you think if a Hurricane was your name & did so much distruction& harm.. There was a hurricane name Helene one time & I was so worried that she would do damage & when she did not I was so relieved.. I know it is a mind thing & but I just could not except a hurricane with my name doing distruction or harm to anyone.. Would this bother you?

Hurricane Denise - if she was anything like me she'd be too bone idle to do any harm!

I've been told more than once by my dad (as a child, of course) that they should have named one after me! LOL!!!!

There was a hHurricane Debby, but it was downgraded to a tropical storm.
My mom and hubby, however, have terrible hurricanes named after them. The names are both retired now. Anyone remember Hurricane Fran and Hurricane Hugo? Boy does the hubby live up to that one! lol. That's his nickname too, "Hurricane."

Haha, funny you should mention this...my name (Katie) in German is "Katrina." :p ;) My dad has been teasing me about it too, as I am that "destructive" as well! (haha, not really!;)) I don't really mind it, but sometimes I'm not so sure...:)

I would mind...b/c I'd feel guilty for all the destruction, even though it wasn't my doing..

I remember Hurricane Donna very well. We lived in Ormond Beach, Florida at that time. I remember being sent home from school, walking home and trying to fight my way to the house with the wind blowing me all over the street. There were trash cans blowing tpwards us, the winds were so strong. We were ordered to evacuate and spent 3 days inland with my Grandmother. The storm reeked havoc but our house was virtually unscathed. My Mom cooked on a grill for 3 more days after we came back home. Ahhhhh..........the good ole days;)

It will bother the heck out of me, my name is due to come up in a couple of years (Laura). My best friend Katrina cannot stand sharing a name with the hurricane, she gets so sick and tired of everyone asking her "what do you think about having the same name?". Kids at school constantly yell "hurricane Katrina is coming, watch out"...drives her nuts, it would drive me nuts too.

Nah, no bother. Hubby would have one heck of a time making fun of me saying "I always knew Hurricane Kim would be a troublemaker" ha ha ha  :p

one of my mom's ex-friends who turned really mean on her is named Katrina! My sister is named Isabel and a few years back hurricane Isabelle hit and created an inlet! Almost the same name, and she could have cared less.

When Irene develope this season, I KNEW it would not bother us here, that was my Mama's name (RIP Mom) and I knew she wouldn't let that come near her kids! Haven't had one my name yet. If there were one named after me, it would just be a big blow hard and fizzel out after it got the attention it wanted! :D

My Aunt's name is Rita. I just got this email from her.
Subject: Did you know......
Body: ...........that I am heading to Florida today? This has thrown a big scare into the local inhabitants and they are desperately trying to leave before I arrive. I will have the Keys all to myself. I can loot and destroy and do other evil things and not be arrested. However, my name is being plastered all over the newspapers and TV screens. If you see me down there, you better get moving out of my way---or else. I just don't know what will happen to me after I leave.
All said in jest of course. ;)

We had a Hurricane Emily this year, and we teased my niece Emily that because it was named after her, it probably would be too disorganized to do much damage! ;)

I'm pretty sure there's already been a hurricane Jessica.. but if there was, you sure didn't hear anything about it, so I guess it didn't do that much damage! Then again, perhaps the name will be recycled again soon... :o

It doesn't even go up to Z so I guess I don't have to worry about Hurricane Zana. I don't know if I should be sad there won't ever be one or happy there won't ever be one:)
Oops, I was only looking at the Atlantic ones - the North Pacific ones do go up to Z...but they only have two Z-names: Zelda and Zeke.
Maybe I should start a petition:D

I'm not sure really if it does a lot of damage then it would be very dissapointing and if it just flies by (quiet unusual to happen) and doesn't do a lot of damamge it would be ok but for the most part it would be quiet dissapointing.
