My girls are doing really well! They eat like horses, and they're so sweet to handle. They come out to roam a few times a day(*very* supervised, I sit on the floor with them). Almond will sometimes puff her beard out at me when I stop her from going places LOL!

My question is about Almond. She has grown HUGE. She was always the bigger/chubbier girl, but her beard is so "chubby", her head is 3 times the size of Pecans, and of course her tummy is huge! I was a little worried about her possibly being male?

Her size is the only reason though, so my question is basically can females be alot bigger than other females? A lot of people do not believe they're from the same clutch.

The good thing is, they stack with Pecan on top, so that she doesn't get squished under Almond ;)

Enough blabbering, onto the pictures!

Here's my babies:

They're really cute! Do you feed them crickets?

Looks like you got yourself a boy. ;) Take pics of their underside and show them to me. My friend just taught me how to sex so I know how now! :p But just looking at the shape of the head I'd say you had a boy. Here's a pic of Kikujuro, my year old beardie boy.

BTW< they are huge and their color looks awesome! I really wish my camera would show Kikujuro's colors better. :(

Yes I feed them crickets, they eat anywhere from 10-15 each everyday, sometimes I skip a day and they eat lots of veggies.

Eee, I was afraid of that. As she gets older, there are more signs of a male :( I really hope Almond is just a BIG girl. I hate to think of seperating them after all this time :( They "stack" all the time.

I'll try to get a picture of their undersides.

Also Kikujuro is adorable, did you get him recently?

They are really neat. They look great together. Hope it all works out with them and one maybe being a male.

I'll post a picture of Liberty in a few minutes that will hopefully show you how to sex them accurately. From her head shape I would still say female, and it is possible for them to grow at vastly different rates. My second dragon, Alielle, was purchased at 5" when her siblings were approaching 9", and she wound up being MASSIVE.

Okay, here's the picture....please ignore the sloppiness of my photoshop work, I have a thumb-track mouse and I'm not familiar with the program. :)

Anyways, If you put Almond in front of you, facing away, (it is easiest on a flat surface like a table) and lift up her tail, you will see one of two things. Where the arrows are pointed there will be TWO lumps if the lizard is male. (It is usually more obvious, but Liberty is VERY old) A female will have only one lump.

All bearded dragons have two lumps between their hind legs, so make sure you are looking at the part on th ebase of the tail, not on the pelvis.

Good luck, and if you need help you can post a picture of her with her tail lifted. :o :o

From the pictures you posted alone, it looks like you have yourself a boy! But I suggest doing what CathyBogart posted you to do, and if you have trouble take a picture of your girl.. erm... or boy, and see if someone here can't help you distinguish between the two.

ACTUALLY if you're having a hard time telling a difference, look at your girl who you KNOW to be a girl, and then compare to the other

Cathy, you are the best!

I took pictures of them with tails lifted, of course they think I'm CRAZY. I don't see antything! The only good thing was whatever they have, it looks to be the same :p

The pictures aren't that good, they are so squirmy! So let me know if you need better ones LOL

Yup, I'd say it's a male. Looks like it. But I'm no expert!

Looks female to me....let me photoshop your pic so you can see what I'm talking about. Back in a flash!

Edit: here it is! Circled in red is what I think is the "one lump" indicating female. Circled in black is the "two lumps" that all beardies have.

I'm not going to leave that hosted there for more than a few days, so please let me know, if you want to save it, when you have. :)

Cathy, I don't think you're doing it right. :o I did a search online and came across these sites on how to sex dragons. Maybe this would help?

Thanks again, Cathy!

Cass-The pictures on those sites looks mostly like what Cathy said, and circled, atleast it does to me :o

We're bringing both girls out to the breeders house sometime this weekend. He's going to check again, and I also want to see the newest babies(4 days old-awww!), and his other reptiles!

Aww, nevermind. I just caught my error. I saw that Cathy had circled above and below. That confused me. But yes, since there are no two lumps above the crease looks like you got a very big girl!

Actually if you compare the photos Cathy's is circled above and below the crease, whereas the sites have it circled above the crease. ;)

*giggling* {{:D}} all those south exposures are too funny. oh almond, your little adorable cocky-head - I don't know what your mommy are doing either! ;)

I think you could sex by colors, I forgot already! :o you'll have to look specifically on face, something.. I'll want to find that info again.

anyway, almond sure is one big girl! pecan & almond's colorings are very perfectly combinated, love how they pose in front of their 'foresty' background.

come back again someday, beardies! :D

"South Exposures" LOL Gina, you are too funny!

I've never heard anything about different colors for males/females, as there are so many colors out there.

The cricle below the crease/vent is the 2 bumps(I forgot what Cathy called them before :o) that all Beardies have, so that I know not to look below there.
