Pasado Safe Haven is currently in Louisiana helping with the animal rescue efforts. Unfortunately, now 17 days after the storm, most animals have died slow, gruesome deaths. Out of 50,000 animals only about 6,000 have been rescued so far and many are at the point of emaciation due to starvation, dehydration and heat exhaustion. Lives forgotten.........

Federal and state goverments have steadfastly refused to use their resources to rescue these animals, even after the human residents of the city were evacuated. Animal rescue volunteers have struggled round the clock but could not do it all on their own. They still search and hope, but the odds are dwindling.

If you care about these innocent, lost lives, please call the President and the Governor and tell them that you personally hold them responsible for their evil, criminal neglect and callous indifference. They need to know they will pay politically for their negligence, because politics is all they really care about, not the lives of U.S. citizens or their beloved pets.

And again, the sad part is, these people only have 30 days to claim their pets when many of them have no idea where their pets even are, or the money to go get them OR some place to take them IF they get their pet's back. More pets are going to die, those are the ones that were rescued if somebody don't get them out of those temporary shelters before their 30 days are up.

There are around 2000 of them at Lemar Dixion in Gonzales, La and they said 1000 are in Baton Rouge. There are not enough people to take care of them all. They are adopting out as many as they can and around 500 have been reunited with their owners/people.

PetSmart is now asking if you will add $1 to your purchase to go towards their care in Baton Rouge and have a big container to drop money in. I don't know if this is at all PetSmarts or not but if it is, that is one way people can help. I did notice the box for money said it was only for the next 30 days......

On Montel today, he talked about the pets. Health officials are worried about what disease and infections these pets are carrying and saying they should not be sent all over the country. It is NOT looking good for these babies!
