Happy works for toys, praise gets her to worked up so I just toss a toy for her, should could not care less about food, try to train her with treats she will just sniff the treat and drop a toy on your feet lol

for Misty a simple "thank-you" will suffice, but it depends what it is, many times praise is too much for her, and she gets exited to do things for a pat on the head lol treats is a nono for her, she gets too exited to listen when there is food, a fine example of that is I was working on her obedience yesterday(for the fun match tonight) and she was behaving perfectly, then I grabbed some food, suddenly everything went out the window and she started going through all her fun tricks hoping for the food lol

Ripley works for food and plays for food, if he dont get food forget it lol

Perky will do a little bit for praise, but will do everything better for food lol

Blair will go through all is tricks very nicely for the treats he will get after the entire session rather then after each individual trick.

Shadow - Food most of the time
Micki - Gotta have food, no questions
Mini - She is happy with praise
Kyra - Toys, she has turned into a frisbee nut and will do anything for it!!
Jack - I've been weaning him off the food, only when he learns new tricks he gets a treat but he has been mainly working for praise, one in a while he is fine with a thank you. But with food he pays attention 150% and will run through all of his tricks hoping to get some.

All three of mine will do anything for me - treat or no treat.

Simba loves a well-deserved treat or a "Good Boy!"
Nala adores praise.
Kiara is happy with whatever makes me happy, but is especially motivated by tennis balls.

NiƱo only does it if he knows it is important or he feels like it. He is NOT food oriented at all. He will do stuff for a toy or a treat or praise, whatever I have or sometimes he'll bring me a toy and I'll ask him to sit or lay down before I throw it.

That's how Tango is. If she's not in a really hyper mood though I can say "good dog" or something like that but I can't say it with too much emotion.

Winston and Keeva thrive on food and LOTS of praise, that's what they work for.

Tia's not a very willing to please dog at all, she knows all of her basic commands and a couple of tricks but it took forever to teach her all of that. She won't work for anything but food, even then it's hard to get her to do anything. She's more my mom's dog though so she has a hard time listening to anyone else other than my mom.

That being said, Tango and the Dobes don't need to have toys or treats involved if I'm just giving them a command that they already know but when it comes to teaching them new tricks what I said above applies.

Autumn does what I tell her without regard to a reward and only after does she get food or praise.

oop, probably should have clarified lol I did not mean all the time, I mean when you are first teaching something lol

mine do everything for no reward at all too lol well my girls do, Ripley does not he works for food and ONLY food, perky and Blair are similer, but my mom just never bothered to wean them off of food rewards because for the types of things she does, she has no reason to.

Jesse works for my approval. No praise, no thank you, just so I am happy with her:) I always am, so don't get me wrong!-but it is really nice to have a dog that would rather work for approval than praise/treats! LOL!!!!!!:D
