<grunt, push, shove, grunt> Gee, this door must be all swelled from all the humidity because it's sure hard to open today.....whoops, ouch!....darn thing, I hate it when it sticks like crazy then all of a sudden lets go. Look, I stubbed my toe. What is this? Why is the door all red and....eewww...sticky....? Oh Mario, have you been getting crazy with your cherry juize again? I suppose I should be happy it was cherry juize and not clam juize....;) :D
'Morning everybody! Couldn't wait for the bar to open today because I've got software people coming in this afternoon, so I just barged right in.
I was cleaning out one of my "junk" drawers (notice I said "one" of my junk drawers which, yes, means I have more than one. ) and I came across a drink recipe that I was evidently enamored with at one time. It's called:
Pink Lemonade
1 1/2 shots vodka
Lemonade
Cranberry Juice
Sour
Seltzer
I found it interesting that I only had an quantity amount on the vodka.
So, I'm going to start my day with the prerequisite Coke (out of one of Slick's McD's cups) and will move onto the Pink Lemonade right before the software people show up. ;)
Hope everyone has a great day!!! :D

Good morning everyone! Thanks for opening the bar Debbie. You know, I was just laying in bed thinking about it. I'll certainly try that DOTD and drink a toast to Gini....may she have a safe flight and a wonderful time with her nieces. God, please keep that plane out of the Katrina's path.
I'll help you clean up all this cherry jooze. When will Mario ever learn?
Junk drawer??? Well, I have a junk bin. You see, I don't have any desks in the spare bedroom so I have a plastic bin on the floor. I'll never let Mario sift through the contents...don't know what he will come up with. ;)
I'd also like us to take a moment and think about those affected by Katrina's wrath. May God watch over them and help them through these next few months as they try to recover from this disaster.

Put all drinks on my tab today in honor of my Leonardo's 15th birthday! :D
He would like a big catnip tea and of course, so would the other 3. I'll just start with a big cherry vanilla coke.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEONARDO, MY SWEET BOY!:D
Now that he is thoroughly embarrassed: I'd like to offer prayers for sweet Sasha and hope she made it to the RB safely. She probably was met by one black bunny who's birthday is today too.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIZ SOPHIE!
We lit your candle and sang Happy Birthday to you this morning! I know your mommy Zippy sure misses you a lot honey. We all do!
Finally, prayers for all who are so horribly effected by hurricane Katrina! May your road back be swift and blessed!

Got into work this morning to hear that my good friend here lost a furbaby yesterday. Little Pashie was 17 and kidney failure finally took it's toll. Out of 5 furbabies, she only has one left....a little black beauty named Jaz. RIP Pashie. :( All your siblings and Sasha will be there to greet you on your arrival.
Happy Purrrfffday Leonardo! Do you know how lucky you are to have such a loving Meowmie?? May your special day be filled with kitty dreams come true.
Miz Sophie's birthday too??? Hippy Happy Hoppy Birthday Sophie. Yes, you are loved and missed very much.
Put your money away MOFF...it's no good in here...;) I hear all the drinks are free this week.....just haven't gotten around to telling Richard yet!
Got a busy morning so I'll check in later today. Just going to grab a DOTD to go.

I am so sad to learn about Sasha. I wasn't keeping up with everything and just now learned about her. I think I'll just have some tea today and sit by the fire. Slick, sorry to hear about Paschie, too. At least they had a long life. I'm sure they were loved.

Hehe, Debbie, this one made me giggle as the other day my mother wrote on the lemonade containers at work (after she had finished making the fresh squeezed juice) - "Diet Juize" & "Reg. Juize" :p
I've only been watching the news here and there as it's far too depressing and the fact that people are looting already. How can people be so rude, heartless, and oblivious?
I'll have one of those DOTD's minus the Vodka. ;) It's been a rough week so far and today's my day off, nothing better than sitting around the house with the pups!
Sorry to hear of Sasha and Pashie. :(
Today is Miz Sophie's birthday?? I know whenever I see parsley I think of that sweetie.

Good afternoon, everyone! Just got off work and I'm relaxing a little. I'll take a DOTD and three catnip teas. DDM has a good idea. I'll join her and offer some silent prayers for the victims of Katrina.

Lunchtime here and all is quiet. I see that Debbie is tied up with those software guys so I'll do my best to fill in.
MOFF: 4 CNT's and a CVC. Enjoy!
KayAnn: A "virgin" DOTD. DONE! Have you been carded?? :D ;)
David: Sit down and rest that weary body. 3 CNT's and a DOTD coming up. DONE!
Val: Drink order???
I'm feeling quiet placid today so am just going to grab a BM and sit by the fire for a bit before I get back to my busy day.

And just like that, The Fyrewolf appears.....
Howdy everyone! Sitting at work, wasting another day since the boss isn't here :D. That DOTD sounds quite nice, I think I'll have a double. I'm all exited about the trip to S.F. this weekend! I'm glad I get to finally meet some PT people!
Every one of Katrinas victims are in my prayers...the distruction is terrible now and the aftermath is going to be just as bad, if not worse :(
Prayers also for anyone whos had a fur/fin/scaly kid reciently pass to the RB.
Hey DAVID, how's Marigold doing?

Hey everybody! Software people left at 4:50 pm, after getting here at 1:00 pm. My head is literally spinning from everything! Why oh why do they make it all so complicated when it should be so simple? There are some really cool things that it does though, so I know I will love it - once I learn it - it's just that I have to learn it in 2 days!
So, to stop my head from spinning, I think I'll have one or two or five DOTDs. Thanks for filling in Slick.
Wish I could somehow run a power cord from our motorhome all the way down to Louisiana & Mississippi. We've got a 10k generator and I'm sure we'd be able to produce enough power to do somebody some good.....

That's a great thought.
They have opened Dodger Stadium, like they did after 9/11...you can drive in and drop off a check...they had a projected 30, 000
dollars as of 9 a.m. this morning...
I have made a pact with myself that I WILL NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT ANYTHING FOR ONE WEEK.
Life is bad at times.....but this week has been cruel to the people in the south.
I have nothing to complain about.

*breezes through, grabs whatever jug is left over from yesterday* GLUG GLUB *erp* excuse me :o Still no home computer so withdrawls are creeping up BIG TIME  Busy day which is strange because most of the city is prepping for a long weekend out of town. I think I'll kick that jukebox into overdrive and play some cajun music and get a care package going south. Anyone have that link for Humane Society rescue efforts?? I do have time to start some red beans and dirty rice with some andouille sausage. I think I'll set some candles in a few of our windows here at the bar and try to think good thoughts.
SHRIMP AND ANDOUILLE SAUSAGE GUMBO
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup all purpose flour
4 celery stalks, coarsely chopped
2 medium onions, coarsely chopped
2 green bell peppers, chopped
2 bay leaves
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons dried oregano, crumbled
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
5 8-ounce bottles clam juize (look out Phred!!!)

1 28-ounce can plum tomatoes, drained, chopped
1 pound smoked andouille or kielbasa sausage, halved lengthwise,
sliced 1/4 inch thick
2 pounds uncooked medium shrimp, peeled, deveined
Freshly cooked long-grain rice
2 tomatoes, seeded, diced
cook until mouth waters from the luscious smell
note: I purposely left out nasty okra

Humane Society Disaster Relief (https://secure.hsus.org/01/disaster_relief_fund_2005?)
Noah's Wish (http://www.noahswish.org)
Noah's Wish is an organization that specializes in rescuing animals stranded by disasters.
'Morning everybody! I need to find somewhere I can donate a care package to also....gotta be a local church putting something together.....
...but in the meantime, I think I'll have a light breakfast of Danish fruit and yogurt....but somehow I think all the cherries are gone....so I'll have to find another fruit to take their place.

09-01-2005, 09:53 AM
Good morning everyone! Yes, it's a sad situation down south and my prayers and good throughts are being sent. I have a friend who is part of Noah's Wish and she's trying to get me involved too, although it's difficult because you have to be ready to be deployed anytime which is hard when you are working full time.
MMMM, what smells so good....must be what Laurie's cooking. Somehow I feel like dressing up...something like they do for the Marde Gra, although this certainly is not the time for celebration.
Have a good day guys and I'll check in later.
Oh yes, and WHITE RABBITS! May you all have good luck for the month. :)

Well, I WASN'T going to complain for an entire week but that was before my less than two year old hot water tank stopped working, and I couldn't get my landlady so called the plumbers and had them come on out. While here they discovered the sewer was clogged an backing up into the basement. They insisted on clearing the clog even though I told them I couldn't reach the land lady to check. They said for sanitary reasons, it needed done, so I said ok. Now, I'll need to worry if my landlady will pay the bill or if I'll have to dig it up. Fat chance, I'm so broke it's not funny!!!
Aw, well, I still have a roof over my head, 4 furrys to cuddle, and now HOT WATER!!! All I need is a cherry vanilla coke and some food, and I'll be swell!:)

Guess where I'm going tomorrow MORNING!! Down to the harbour to pick up Julie and her husband from the cruise ship. :) Sussanne will come along - we promised not to talk about Ally being so naughty. ;) ..... Yes, I WILL remember my camera. ;)
A goodnight drink will suit me fine now. Any suggestions?
Cheers!

Plus, I finally got my landlady. She yelled for 20 minutes and told me to never ever call ANYONE without her permission again, unless it's in the middle of the night! She's also told me in the furnace breaks down, she won't fix it, I'll have to.

Man, MOFF, I'd tell the land lady where to go and how to get there lol. My landlords are jerks like that too...we've had busted up (and very unsafe) balconys on one side of our complex since last summer. At the begining of this summer, they sent a notice saying that they had hired a contractor to patch up the balconys and bring them up to code...
That was 4 months ago...and the balconys are STILL trashed!

Hi folks...just stopping in for a moment. Things at work here are really busy....barely have time for a pee break.
Connie, I'm so sorry to hear about your problems. I guess your month is not starting out very well! Jeeze, what a landlady...doesn't she know that after 29 years, you should be treated with respect and at least a "thank you" given. Some people...
Randi: which Julie? There are a couple on this board. Gosh, I probably missed a thread or two about this. :o
DJF: Have not read that thread yet but will get to it. So sorry.
Well, I'd better grab a DOTD quick. Let's see....21 working days a month X 12 months X 12 years....that's how long I have before retirement. Can't come too soon for me. Off to work now.

Hi everyone, sorry I'm so late. All of this stuff going on with Katrina has me mentally preocupied. What ever the DOTD is, I'll have a double.
I'm working on trying to get the powers that be where I work to do something for the relief effort. We're not a big company, but I've recommended that they (the company), could match indiviual donations to the charities and/or that they could get some stuff for a little BBQ next week and we could have a $5 or $10+ a plate "luncheon" with money going to the relief efforts.
I'll let you know how it works out.

Work. Sleep. Work. Oh, and care for my co-workers dog, Trent.
Sounds like fun! :D (I don't get a long weekend, however instead of working at 5:30am Monday, we open at 8:30, so I only have to get up at 7am. :p )
I'm going to be sulking this weekend, For one I won't be celebrating this weekend on Ohio like usual. And as of the 6th it will be one year from when Angus passed away. :( It was this weekend I was up there at Anna's the first time with Kiki.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend. I know i'm feeling especially grateful lately that I have a nice warm bed to sleep in and food in my stomach.
