I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on chewing.
My 4 month old lab is teething big time and she is chewing about anything she gets into her mouth such as, my wall, table and chair legs,Anything wood... I heard of miximg alum and water together in a strong dose and it is supost to taste horrible to them and discourage them, But she doesn't really care she keeps on chewing. Our house looks like a doggy daycare ... Can anyone help and tell me how long this is going to go on for?!?!

Make sure she has plenty of acceptable chew toys around! Ice cubes are wonderful for teething dogs too. Depending on the breed of dog, chewing stages can last as long as a few short months to a few long years. Goldens for example like to agressively chew for about 2 years. They still chew after that but it slows down.

I have plenty of toys, Nylabones, kongs, and natural flavored knuckle bones. There is so much lying around that they never have a problem finding something to chew on that is acceptable.

When they do chew something unacceptable, give them a verbal correction and SHOW THEM what is acceptable.

I have kongs (which she has mastered and can empty one in 5 minutes) ,knuckle bones plus all sorts of chewy type toys for her. I don't want her chewing on rawhide as I have a leather chair, saddles, and shoes! She knows what No chew means but it's when she gets alone for a few moments she goes crazy on whatever she can get in her mouth. I also wet face cloths and freeze them even adding a little garlic power to them for flavor for her and she loves those, as well as ice cubes. Its just very frustrating when you come into a room after leaving her there for 5 minutes to see her chewing on something she isn't suppost to have!!!!
