Hi, Sunny's still having peeing problems so I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow morning. He's jumping in and out of the litter boxes and is only able to pee a very small amount. He's already had a urinalysis and a culture test and his urine was normal except for a small amount of blood that was found in it and he has no crystals or blockage. He was on antibiotics and then he had another relapse and he was also on prazosin for 5 days which finally helped him after 3 days but now he's had another relapse.

I'm currently giving him cosequin 2 times a day with his food but I won't see results for 4-6 weeks. I sure hope that the vet will be able to give him something that will help him immediately so he'll get some relief. I hate seeing him so uncomfortable. Please send some prayers and positive thoughts his way. Thanks. I'll update you when as soon as I know anything.

tracey, I've hate to see my friend's cat not doing well too! :(

hope the vet will be able to figure out the best for sunny very soon. I'm sorry this is happening again.

is the blood even normal when he possibly have a infected bladder? (sorry if I've missed other of sunny's threads and was mentioned)..

I'll be thinking of him (and you) tomorrow, let us know - ok?

hey sunny, keep your muzzle up, no matter what size your biscuts are, we love you! :)

night too, tracey.

When my Peeka and Puddy experienced that, I went on the Internet to see what I could do to rid them of any discomfort until they could be examined by my vet, who later told me that it was exactly what he would've prescribed: amitryptilene. It helps w/the pain and keeps them calm. Very small dose of it, though. I'm not recommending that you do it. That's your decision. But I will tell you that it did help. I also had some Clavamox on hand and the Internet recommended that as well, so I gave them that, too. My vet also said that he would've prescribed that, too, until he could examine them.

Best wishes and keeping the candles on for ya...

Blessings,
Mary

Hi, thanks for all of the well wishes and concerns about my baby Sunny.:) My vet wanted to rule out bladder or kidney stones so he x-rayed Sunny and all is clear. He still thinks it's iFLUTD which means that it's idiopathic Feline Urinary Tract Disease and we don't know what's causing this. I think it's probably stress related so now he's taking propantheline 7.5mg 2 times a day for the next 7 days. This will help him relax so hopefully he'll begin to feel more comfortable soon.

If this still doesn't help him or he has another relapse then he may need to have an ultrasound to rule out a growth or tumor. I may also need to see an internal specialist. I sure hope that he won't need to be put through this. He gets so nervous and stressed out at the vets. Please continue to send prayers and positive thoughts his way. Thanks.:)

Prayers on their way here. I sure hope the medication is able to calm him enough to prevent any more urinary issues. Callie sends her love to Sunny.

Sunny, I hope you feel better real soon. Me, my meowmie and my brothers and sister will be praying for you. Meowmie says bladder hurties are REALLY bad and uncomfy and we don't want you feeling like that.

Thanks everyone.:) I'm not sure if the medicine is working yet or not. Sunny was acting a little more normal this morning but he still seems to be using the litter boxes much more often than he normally does.

hey, "is all clear" is GOOD! well, iFLUTD (idiopathic feline urinary tract disease) are caused by bladder stones/bacterial infection in most case but sunny is all clear (does that include cystitis check too?) - so it would be from stress of enivromental change or litterbox stress -

he could be in pain for many reasons, interor swollening, bad inflammation, orlatered GAG (glycosaminoglycan) layer or leakage from blood vessels inside & more. hope you had all panel of blood works done. sometimes those symptoms wouldn't show right away. :(

I'm happy to hear he's a little bit himself this morning and let's hope the new treatment will work this time so he'd not have to suffer anymore!

hugs,
..gina & miles (miles hopes sunny doesn't mind his long-haired but wanted to send his love luck) :)

Just out of curiosity, how old is Sunny? When was the last time you brought a new baby, or 2 into his life??

When we brought Yoshi home, Fluffy was the first one to accept him, but also the first one to be sick over it, too! When Lucky came into Fluffy's life, they were closer in age, when Yoshi showed up, Fluffy was already 10+ years old.

Cats HATE change, no matter what. And we also have to remember that our dear wonderful babies HIDE their illness from us oh so very well!!!

Sunny's 5 years old and these problems started happening before I got the two kittens. Today he seems to be doing very well and he's been running around and playing more. He also been much noiser and chirping more like his normal self. I just hope that he'll continue to do well after he stops taking the medication. Thanks for all of your concerns.:)
