Tonight, when I arrived home from work, I was met at the door (outside door) by a little Aby cat. I thought for sure it was Juni-get-down and she had "sprung" herself from the porch via the new screening. But, it was Miley. She had (well, a cat had) pushed a screen out of a bedroom window on the second floor, and Miley, of all of the cats, went out on the roof of the garage directly below the window and then down on to the ground.

I have no idea how long she was out, as she cannot, or would not, talk about it. She was happy to see me, so I think she may have been outside for some time.

I was sure the little face was going to be Juni. And then horror set in while I went inside to find the others. I thought for sure the entire crew made a break for it. I must be lucky. They were all accounted for!

The end.

And one happy Meowmie Camper:rolleyes:

Oh Miley! Looking for adventure in all the wrong places! Be careful what you ask for, you might get it!...and then where would you be....silly girl...

Oh wow, I bet your heart dropped when you realized what happened...and what could have happened.

Noah knocked the screen out of our den in the old place...to a 2 story drop onto concrete. Luckily, David walked in the door as soon as it happened - Noah was perched and contemplating a jump.

Now, I only keep the window's open a crack...my bad kitties would LOVE to repeat that!

I'm glad Miley girl stayed close. :)

Juni-get-down....LOVE IT!!! And I can totally relate!! Micah-Get-Down lives at my house. ;)

This is the third story of an indoor cat making the Great Escape and then staying near home. A friend's tabby Nairobi, unknown to her, followed her out to the garage from the house and then slipped out the garage door sometime before it closed. Ten hours later when she got back home Nairobi's brother was fussing at the back door. She looked out to see her cat curled up on a lawn chair in the backyard. She had let both of them out in the yard under supervised conditions numerous times so it was a safe place for him.

The other is an Aby named Squid. The exterior of the house had been painted a week before and one window screen in a second-floor bathroom wasn't hooked. Sometime early in the morning before sunrise, Squid pushed the screen open and somehow got down from the scond floor to the backyard. He spent the early morning chasing squirrels in the yard. The squirrels made so much noise that someone came out to see what was going on and Squid dashed back into the house. He, too, had been allowed to snoop in the backyard while on a on a leash so it was a familiar place.

Miley, Miley, Miley:)

I can't help I am a little proud of you. Being so clever to get out, to enjoy it (I'm sure you enjoyed) and then to wait for meowmie to come back. What a sensitive little girl you are:)

On the other hand, I remember these crazy foxes around your house.......please promise to take care. Headbumpies and nosekissies to my favorite girl kitty:)

@Squid: everyone knows that cats need to talk to squirrels from time to time. Ask Edwina ;)

Miley was like a velcro kitty all last night, after having her time outside by herself for who knows how long.

She purrrrrred and cuddled and cuddled closer.......so I accomodated her by sleeping as close to her little body as possible, too.

I do let the cats out oh maybe four times a year, when there are enough people around the house to catch them all. Miley has been out more than the others since she is that much older by a few years. She knows which door leads to the inside, for sure.

We do have dogs and foxes in the area, and I trust that Miley, being the little lady she is, hid behind chairs etc. near the porch and door. She didn't have any cuts or bumps on her and didn't seem that upset, just lonely.

I would like to believe the screen had JUST fallen out before I got home at 6PM. Right.

I think since Abys are SO attached to their humans, they don't stray far from home base.

I am so surprised that Juni and Lucy didn't take the leap and just leave the area for good. Both of them have such adventure in their souls. Miley is a home body.

By the way, Miley had to have jumped 10 or more feet from the garage room roof onto a picnic table and then on to the ground. She could not have "fallen"....... as the roof is quite wide.

I will have to recheck all the screens this weekend. CATS!

My Spookums is a door dasher. One night she just took off like a shot and NO one could catch her! She promptly hid in the dark (black cats are hard to see at night!) for about 7 or 8 hours. We were so worried, as our street is very busy.

Well about an hour after I went to bed for the night, I heard this mournfull yowling outside my door. Guess who decided to show back up  She walked in as if nothing was wrong and expected me to give her a treat and pet her.

Silly kitties!

It was so suprising to me to see one of my cats at my door. I was dumbfounded, to say the least. The first thing that came to mind is that one had slipped out when I wasn't watching. And then, the screeeeeeennnnnnsssssss....... It took about 5 minutes of walking around the outside of the house to find the missing screen.

By the way, I had quite an assortment of flying things in my bedroom last night. That long handled mop came in handy for killing hornets/wasps. I had three of them in the bedroom, along with a few flies. That could be why the screen got knocked out in the first place. They love to jump at bugs on the screens.

It was very, very scarey to think that all of my cats could have taken off for parts unknown.

Phewwwww.

Oh my goodness, Sallyanne, I'm so glad that Miley is ok, as well as the others!!! Even with an indoor/outdoor cat, one can still have the scary situations like I did with Butter over the weekend. Nosy boy got locked into our neighbor's garage for 24 hours, at least!

I was never so happy to see that bad boy and I know you felt the same way about Miley.

I'm really surprised that it was Miley that was outside.
I thought that she was the good kid.;)
At least she was waiting by the door for you to come home.:)

I wonder if she has been taking lessons from Eddie and Edwina?

And Butter, I bet that neighbor was just hoping to keep you because you are so handsome.;)
Logan, I'm glad you found him safe and sound.:)

I'm so glad that Miley didn't venture away from the house and that she has no injuries on her.

I bet she was soooooooo happy when meowmie finally came home.:D

One of the girls I work with heard the Miley story and suggested that maybe Juni-get-down pushed Miley off the roof, since they don't care much for each other. Can you just picture it? Can you imagine seeing all four cats out on the roof? I bet they were ALL out there at some time. I wonder if anyone driving by noticed the little furry devils walking around!

Hehehehehe.

When I was young we had a family cat who lived to just a few weeks short of her 21st birthday. Her favorite playground was the roof of the house. It sounded like a monkey up there as she ran around up and over the peak of the pitched roof and galloped around. She did this just about every day of her life. Maybe that's why she lived so long.

Once she overshot the end of the roof and was hanging from the gutter by her front claws and screaming up a storm. I reached up to grab her and, once I got hold of her, she let go of the gutter. I knew how much she trusted me at that point.

Yikes!!!!! SO happy that she is safe and sound *inside* the house!! You must have been sooo shocked. Glad it wasn't raining outside, or was it?

We used to live in a rancher, and it was back when Christian couldn't really talk well yet, but was walking pretty well. Well, Rob and I were in the other room and Christian comes in and grabs my arm and takes me to the living room to show me that the screen was outside and Dandy was too!! I think he said something like " Uh Oh De De", when he went to get me...(he calls her DeDe...and so do we now ;)) Anyway...it was scary!! But my buddy saved her from maybe becoming a stray...thank God! I will have to tell him that story when he is older, and understands what a big help he was...okay, now I am rambling...it is late and I am tired ;)

Glad Miley girl is where she belongs!!

I can't imagine that Juni-get-down would be such a bad kitty. A little nawtee, yes, but she wouldn't pack Miley in a box and ship her to me;) ...what am I talking?.... push her from the roof, is what I wanted to say:D

In our fenced in balcony, Filou can gallop under the roof. I know why Abys are called monkeys:)

Well I bet that little episode was good for a gray hair or two! I am glad the little cutie decided to not stray too far from the nest. That was scary just to read and the title sure got my attention!

Trevor pulled something similar to Miley a couple of years ago. I had gone out to the garage to pull the door down one morning after hubby left for work. I never noticed that Trev had decided to follow me. I came inside, closed the door and took off for the shore for several hours. When I got home I went into the garage for something and was greeted by a giant orange blur jumping toward me, with a big thud as he landed on the top of the workshop counter. He had been about three feet above my head and I don't mind saying that my heart was racing for quite a while after that. The silly boy had spent several hours napping in the garage while I was gone and I never knew it. :o

Pssst, Juni....I think that being your Miley is your sister, you may want to consider a shorter trip for her....say to Illinois. After this *escape* incident, SAS will never suspect the devious plan we have concocted.
