A co-worker was coming home yesterday on I-95. At the Flash Foods Exit near Brunswick they stopped for gas at the Flash Foods #255. There is a black chow that has been running loose around the station for quite a while. The workers at the store are not allowed to feed it, but travelers can. Someone has provided water. My co-worker fed it and the dog seemed to be friendly, but wary.

Is there anyone in the area who could rescue this dog?

We suspect that the dog is waiting for it's owners to come back.
Possibly from an accident or maybe just dumped.

Help???

I know it's been a couple weeks, but I just joined this forum. I have a few acquaintances that are Chow lovers, that live in Georgia. Is this black Chow still there????

I can only assume the chow is still there. The people at the gas station said he's been there for nearly ----4 years!

If I lived anywhere nearby, I'd try to find him. Unfortunately, I'm too far away. I thought that maybe someone closer to him might check out the gas station, maybe ask a few questions.

Just a shot in the dark.

Thanks for the information; do you mind if I copy your posts to a gal in Georgia? Thank you!

Here's a response I got from a gal in Georgia from our Chow board that may be able to call someone for help!!!:

- Suzy

Hey - I'm about 40-45 miles away from Brunswick. I have a friend that lives & works there... He used to have Chows, and loves them, but has Poms now. I can contact him and ask him to check out the situation - if he sees the Chow, it's condition, etc. There are several exits in Brunswick, it's a pretty good sized city - does anyone have any idea which exit on I-95 it is? My friend might know if I mention the Flash Foods - I am just not familiar with that area. Was I reading the posts right that he's been there 4 YEARS ???

The only information I had was a receipt from the Flash Food 255 Exit. Apparently the gas station is the only thing at the exit.

Bless you for trying to find this dog.

I called the store, and the girl I talked to gave me some info: This female Chow was there before this lady started working at the store over 4 years ago and she's had 6 litters of pups! She said there's no way anyone will be able to catch her. She said she's fed her, and the dog will only get close enough to get the food then takes off. If I can find a Chow rescue group in the area, I'll contact them. They may be able to trap her somehow.

Having a chow mix and chows before I can only imagine the mess her coat must be in 6 litters does no one there care? Man if i were only closer. Prayers going out for those to help her and to the poor little girl.

It may take patience and a dog trap to catch her.

Some rescues aren't equipped to catch, just handle dogs that people already have. I wish I could spend a week in the area with my trap. I'd feed her with the door fixed open for a few days before setting the trap with special, fishy bait.

How sad that no one has cared enough to keep her from having so many pups. Wonder where the pups ended up.

Thank you for your efforts. I hope she's caught.
