I would like to know the opinion of Nutro dog food is. Would you buy it for your dog or cat? Have you had any bad experiences? What have been your good experiences?
I may have an oportunity to promote this product but want to do research first. My own experiences have been excellent. However, I can understand if others have not been so fortunate. I don't want to promote a product that hasn't been a "good" thing. I don't approve of Hartz products at all.
From my past experience with Nutro, I found that almost every pet has LOVED it. Now, my pets are EXTREMELY picky eaters but NEVER turned from the Nutro products. I actually got started on the Nutro because they wouldn't touch the Science Diet. They gulped the stuff down!!!
So please let me hear your opinions before I make a final decision. I am willing to stand behind the product so far. Thanks!!!

My family has always fed Nutro's Natural choice I wouldn't say that Nutro is the best quality food but my dogs do great on it, their coats are healthy and shiny, they're full of energy and their breath isn't bad. When I move out I'm going to switch Tango over to a higher quality food even though I've had good experiences with Nutro....

I feed my fur kids Nutro Natural choice. They love it. Ebony is eating Nutro puppy chow she loves it. Which food to feed your dog can get so confusing sometimes. Everyone has since different opinons on what food to use.

Payson eats Nutro Max and he really seems to like it. I also feed Corkscrew and Tibby Nutro Natural and love it, my favorite thing about it is that they seem to produce less "waste" in the litterbox than they did when they were on Science Diet. Corkscrew is also down to a healthier weight, and before he used to get colds all the time. He hasn't had a cold once since I switched them over a year ago. I'm not sure if it's the food or just a coincidence but I'm happy. Even the rats eat Nutro! They get a little of it mixed it with their fruits and grains, they range in age from 2 to almost 3 years (senior age for a rat) and they are very healthy!

i chose "No I do not want to buy it or try it", even though i used to feed it to my cats. so, i've already tried it. my vet never liked it, and, i just think it's too rich, and, there are still so many things in the food that are just unnecessary. i wouldn't feed it again, if i ever fed an animal processed pet food. although i never really had issues with it. i didn't have issues with pedigree when i fed it to my dog for awhile, either. but, i wouldn't touch that stuff with a ten foot pole, now.

I used to use Nutro's Natural Lamb and Rice for
Sheba and she did very well on it.
The only reason why I ended up changing to Candidae is
because Rocky unfortunately did not.
(every dog is different)

I give a thumbs up to Nutro.

I have used the Nutro Max now for a little while and both my girls love it. I am trying the Nutro Natural now to see if they like this one better. I am pleased with it so far and so are the girls.

Nutro is an OK food but it's much overpriced for it's quality.

I bought a bag for maggie when the store ran out of her food and she did horrible on it, her coat became dull and she even lost some hair.

i use to feed my senior cat the nutro food too and he didnt do well at all, he had diarhea and his coat was crappy.

In the beginning, I fed my gurls Nutro Natural Choice and then switched over to Iams. Then this year, I saw that Iams test on animals...so I switched back over and feed them Nutro Ultra. They love it!!! :) :)

Beenie and Frankie both liked it.
I do buy it because I think it's better for them than most dog foods.

Nanook & Raustyk eat Nutro Natural choice for large breeds. They do great on it. Raustyk had a LOT of problems on other foods that were of about the same quality, ALL symptoms dissapeared on Nutro. For 3.5-4 years she litterally had bladder infection after bladder infection, anal gland impactions even with frequent expressions, ear infections even with daily cleaning and a very weird unkown, undectable rash.
I don't think its THE BEST food out there, but certainly a lot better than most.

I'd personally like to feed the best food to my dogs, but Nutro is fairly reasonably priced (could be a little cheaper since so many better foods are avail. now) and is readily avail. at many stores. And it works for me so why risk ruining that success. If it ain't broke don't fix it. lol

Each dog is different & what may work for one may not work for enother, the same goes with ANY food.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I wanted to make sure I involved myself in a product that had "good"qualities. My personal experience was always excellent but I always like to hear the other side. I may use some of the comments I've read in my "sales pitch". I think customer's opinions are better than the company's at times.
I always felt that Nutro was reasonably priced. It is within the same realm as the competition like Iams/Science Diet. Although, I haven't seen it at many Vet's offices. I think brands like Science Diet give some kind of "kick-back" to veterinians who carry it. Even my former pet store got "favors" from certain brands. So I wouldn't necessarily trust the food the vet is selling is the best for the pet. I also find it "ironic" that I've seen vet offices feed different foods than they sell to bordered pets.
Thanks again. I feel much better knowing Nutro really is a brand that you can trust. :D

We switched about 6 months ago to Nutro Natural Large Breed. Zoe hated the previous food. But now, she woofs it down.
Our cats eat the Nutro Indoor cat food.

I only feed Royal Canin beacuse of its low density and easy digestibility. It is very high quality dog food.

Hannah gets the Nutro Chickenmeal, Rice and Oatmeal formula for Sensitive Stomachs and it has had a very positive effect on her. She no longer throws up the *stomach bile* in the morning, plus she loves it.

My parents feed Nutro Large Breed to both thier dogs and they are doing great on it. Their doberman, Max was very underweight when they got him and the Nutro put him back in good shape. Their mutt pup, Twilight, has stomach issues and Nutro never agrivates them. Plus, they really like it too.

On a side note, I feed my cats Nutro Indoor care and it works well for them.

Bella and Ripley have been eating Nutro Lamb and Rice for quite some time now and are doing well on it. I have considered switching to Innova EVO and have even given it to them at times but somehow I am afraid to go off the Nutro. Don't want to mess with a good thing. ;)

:) Nutro is definitely higher quality than anything you can find at the grocery store, and one of the best kibbles at Petsmart/Petco, but there are many much higher quality foods. If you're going to buy any kibble at Petsmart, Blue Buffalo is MUCH better. One thing that I dislike about Nutro is the high grain content, and they now use corn in some of their formulas. However, still MUCH better than Iams/Science Diet/ProPlan, etc. I voted for #4, because I've had a few issues with it... I was feeding Gonzo Nutro Natural Choice Puppy Food when we first adopted him, and he would not eat it. I always had to mix in canned food or meat for him to eat, and I remember it gave him an upset tummy for a while.

Here's the top 10 ingredients of their puppy formula... one source of meat, and notice that THREE of the top 6 ingredients are "rice". They usually divide fillers like that to make it so that Chicken meal is still #1, when, if you added up the Ground Rice, Rice Flour, and Rice Bran, it probably has more rice product than it does Chicken meal. err, yeah, and corn is BAD and so is wheat. >_<

Chicken meal, ground rice, corn gluten meal, wheat flour, rice flour, rice bran, dried beet pulp, poultry fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols, a source of natural vitamin E), natural flavor, sunflower oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols, a source of natural vitamin E)

I've used Nutro Senior. my dog did great on it.. The other foods nearly killed him & if it wasn't for those darn foods & wouldn't have had such a lousy tummy. But Nutro helped his tummy out. It let him put on weight & stopped him from going at both ends all the time.

In the end he was having alot of accidents, but the vet told me, he was in no pain & he didn't seem to care at all. I just had to give him lots of vitamins cause the accidents couldn't be stopped & he was loosing vitamins & such do to it.

He had great teeth for an old guy & was VERY strong & outgoing. Nothing stopped him, not even his bad back. it slowed him down a bit, but he refused to be stopped.

He always ate his food & had tiny poops, before the accidents started (not the foods fault at all).

My dad is feeding my grandma's tea cup poodle Nutro Senior wet food. The dog had never had dog food in its life & it was in horrible shape (after my grandpa passed away my grandma went into depression, thats why my dad moved 2000km to care for her).

In only 2yrs, that sickly rat of a dog, now looks like a dog. He doesn't have nearly as many accidents on the floor (he was never house broken) & hardly ever gets sick, unless grandma feeds him people foods :(

My dad is giving that dog vitamins & everything, just preying it stays alive longer then grandma. Cause if that dog dies, all is lost for grandma to get better.

but so far Nutro has helped alot :)
