I have a 7 year old Black Lab and this morning he started to breath really weird, really loud, harsh quick breaths, then his nose started to bleed. When I went up to him since I was freakin out he didn't have his tail between his legs he just wagged his tail like normal so it didn't seem to hurt him. But it was still bleeding rather perfusly.
Then later on I was taking him out for a walk and he did the weird breathing thing again, and then it started to bleed.
It could be that he was smelling something and it went up his nose and cut it, or my cat could have swated his nose. But the blood was coming from the inside.
just wanted to see if anyone know's whats going on, or if it's just a simple nose bleed.

Scary. I've never heard of dog getting asimple nosebleed. I'd have gone the the vet rigt away. I hope he's ok.

Do you have foxtails in your area? They can get stuck in a dog's nasal passages and cause the same symptoms your dog has. Removal requires a trip to the vet.

Causes can range from a foreign object to cancer.

I would take the dog to the vet ASAP. It sounds like something is in the nasal passages or worse. Did the dog eat any chicken bones? Something could have splintered off. The vet may take xrays or examine for a foreign object.
I had adopted a German Shepard temporarily. My dog Scooby who is a Jack Russel/Beagle mix did NOT get along with the HUGE German Shepard. They had gotten into several fights. Luckily, she was pretty gentle with him in the fights. She had lived around smaller dogs most of her life.
Well, luck would have it... I had decided to have my first "Open house" after moving into a "new" home. It had NEW carpeting in the living room and the stair well. Scooby and the Shepard got into a knock down drag out fight. Scooby is partially paralyzed and should know better!!!  So I was forced to separate the 2 dogs immediately. I tossed Scooby into a bedroom and kept the German Shepard out. (Ain't no way I am messing with a German Shepard:cool:) I walked down the stairs and noticed blood EVERYWHERE!!! ALL over the stairs and on my new carpet! It looked like a murder had taken place:o !!!
I panicked and ran back up the stair to check on Scooby. He was fine and NO blood! I then take a look at the Shepard... There is a bunch of blood coming from her nose!!! Scooby had bloodied the Shepard's nose!!!!
I quickly applied a cloth and got the bleeding to stop. It was too late for the carpet... I had to spend the rest of night trying to steam clean blood out of the stair way and living room. It took forever to get them out! I still had huge blotches of blood stains for weeks.

I don't mean to worry you, as mentioned it could be something fairly simple like a blade of grass up there or worse like a bone or something in his upper throat. It oculd be a scrape that just isn't healing fast.
But when I worked at the vets office, about 90-95% of dogs with nose bleeds all had cancer in the nasal passage.
Gosh I hope its not that, I hope its nothing serious.
I wish yous the best of luck!
keep us posted.
