View Full Version : breeding Misty-possably sooner then planned
lol NO she is not pregnant  I just was not planning to breed her till after we moved but moving was post poned till next year, however a few days ago my mom said I need to get a job so that I can save up money, complete the rest of her testing and either breed her or spay her soon, as in her next 2-3 cycles, she is at her prime age for breeding and now that she has worked sheep I know that A-she is good and B-what to look for in a stud. most likley assuming she clears the rest of her health testing with at least an exellent, it will next april or may, as I doubt I will have saved up the amount of money I will need in the next month or 2 AND found an appropriate stud lol I have always planned to breed her if she clears all testing and works sheep well, I had just not planned on it happening in this house. my mom is a former breeder so she knows what she is talking about, it just kind of took me by suprise that she wanted me to breed or soon for forget it as I thought she wanted to wait till we moved as well :o I know there are at least 2 people on this board that have contacted me about Mistys puppys, that was a while ago though so if you guys-you know who you are- are still interested let me know lol it would be cool to keep pups on the board :D

I agree with your mom, save up the money to finish health testing because being a good sheep herder means nothing without good health to pass on to the pups. This goes for the stud too. You're gonna have to have a lot of money set aside for care of the litter and mom. A good litter costs a lot and a disastrous litter costs more which I'm sure you and your mom probably already know. Before the breeding takes place you should also have a waiting list of people wanting pups from two proven parents, not just one.
oh of caurse, I always intended to have full health testing done, the only thing my mom said was to breed her soon lol wiating list is not a problem, Misty pups are rather sought after for some reason :p

Well, good luck with finding a stud, and I hope that all goes well:) I would like a puppy, but, my parents would NEVER allow it:rolleyes:

Ohhh how exciting :). I wish i could have a "Misty pup" but it is not possible :(. Mum was actually asking me how much it would cost to bring a dog (Working BC) over from Cananda, as we have friends from Flyball going over soon and they will be meeting up with a few BC people ;).
