Hermit crabs!

Anyone here have hermit crabs?

I am a member of a hermit crab forum (yes yes, i know that sounds a bit.. weird haha) They are such great pets, and i was just curious to see if anyone here had them..

i think 8/9 (lost a few from bad molts) about half a year or so ago i had 16

I probably wouldn't have much luck owning them... mainly because I don't have much luck owning anything unless its furry! :D

I had one about a year ago, it was lonley and got out of its shell and died. They are really fun, I should get another, but if I do it should be two of them because I think they get lonley very easily.

I've been wanting to get a few for a year or so now, I just have to wait until I have a spare cage &/or more space.lol

yeah, normally when they get out of their shell it means either stress, lack of humidity or maybe lack of shells.

It happens a lot because its not too well known that they need about 70% humidity to breathe and stuff.

They also do like friends. so getting two or more is normally best.

They are great pets. i love them :)

I used to think they were boring until I got my job at PetCo and actually learned more about them and was around them more. Now I wouldn't mind having one!!

the only problem with Hermits though are that people constantly forget they need to be kept in a WARM and HUMID environment and need to be misted daily! We get them brought back all the time because they "forget".. :rolleyes: The poor things :(

I have had four but unfortunately i didnt know enough about them so two of them came out of their shells and died, one, i believe, died because of an bad molt and another lived an pretty great life but i woke up one morning and he was dead.:(

I have two. One of them just shedded or "molted". I have Michelle and Cermit. I LOVE them to death. . Michelle's always changing shells. :D She's like a girl in a shoe store... Never enough. I always have to turn over all of her shells to find her tho she does have favorites lol. I'll show a pic later
