I've never seen this before. My kitten, Kimi (approximately 5 months old), seems to have a slight issue. She acts fine, eats fine, plays fine, eliminates fine... but for the last few days, when she starts to purr, she "coughs". I don't know how better to explain it. It's like a clearing of the throat, sort of like when they're trying to cough up a hairball but nowhere nearly as "violent" and it's not a continual hacking. Just a couple cough-type sounds.

I gave her some hairball gel yesterday evening but that doesn't seem to have helped any. Does anyone else have any other ideas? Thanks!

That's odd, I hope someone has some advice for you. And, I hope it's nothing too serious.

Strange question...does it almost sound like a goose honking? When Zingo was younger he would do that. At first I thought it was connected with an extremely active play session, he just got too wound up. But it wasn't. It would be kind of out of the blue. Then he out grew it. Now Hunter, who is about 2, has been doing it. Again can't connect it with anything specific. I had taken Zingo to the vet when he was doing it. They could find no exact cause and since it wasn't an all the time thing they didn't want to medicate him without being sure they needed to. DOn;t know if that helps, but it was our experiences with the honk!!!

No, it has no vocal sound to it - just like a sneeze-cough type sound. And only when she purrs, so I don't know that it'd be allergies...

WHEN,THE FOUND CATS,MAKE THAT NOISE,IT IS JUST BEFORE THEY DEPOSIT A HAIRBALL,WHERE I AM PREPARING,TO WALK,
WE HOPE,THAT ITS JUST THAT,AND THAT ITS NOTHING,TO WORRY ABOUT.
