As a continuation of this (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=84210) thread, Lucas is back to diarrhea. :(
The medicines had him pooping normally (well a normal consistance, but still on the floor), but now it is turning back to liquid.
Will be calling the vet as soon as they open to find out what we do next.
Poor boy. :( (poor me)

Hi Jen. Sorry to hear about this. My Cleo had very loose stools two or three years ago and my vet suggested I try her on Hills Veterinary Diet, Feline w/d to bulk up her faeces. This has worked well for her. Just a little each day at both meals with her wet food. One time when all the vets were out of stock and we were waiting for a new shipment to arrive, I had run out and after a week or two her stools became runny again. As soon as I recommenced the Feline w/d all was well once more. Ask your vet what s/he thinks and maybe give it a try. Cleo is now 16 by the way, how old is Lucas?

Oh no Jen, poor Lucas. I'm sorry I didn't see the first thread about him not being well. I sure hope he feels better soon.
If it is IBS what do you do for that? Is that like Kelly's Micah - special diet?
Please give my favorite Luckenbach kitty an extras smooch and scritchie for me (shhh, don't tell the others).

We are going to try another medicine, one that reduces imflamation, and also sensitive stomach food. The vet feels he might have a bit of IBD.
Wish us luck......off to buy the new food.

Jen, I would like to know what medicines have been tried with Lucas and what foods. I am still battling CJ's diarrhea and I'm not happy with something I noticed yesterday. Since Peanut's surgery, I brought one of their litter boxes upstairs and put it in the bathroom so she didn't have to run all the way downstairs if she couldn't hold it long enough. Yesterday I was using the human litter box ;) when CJ comes in. Sorry to be kind of gross here, but the last couple of squirts were blood - bright red blood. :( I'm going to be calling the vet as soon as they open in 10 minutes. I really need to start getting to the bottom of his diarrrhea before it starts taking a permanent toll on his system.
So any and all details you can give will be appreciated. Sorry I missed the first thread you made on poor Lucas.
CJ's details:
He'd been on Probiocin for months.
First food was Science Diet Senior
Then tried Science Diet Senior Hairball - firmed it up a little but not much.
Then tried Royal Canin Sensitive Stomach - made his diarrhea runnier
Back to Science Diet Senior Hairball - firmed up a little again, but only to about 50/50
I had also been giving a bit of wet food in the morning to get him to eat the Probiocin. Since last Friday, I've now stopped the wet food and stopped the Probiocin and am trying to give no treats or anything - just plain dry Science Diet Senior Hairball.
I'm at a loss......

OK, Lucas had ...
centrine for diarrhea (not 100% sure this was working)
Albon for bloody diarrhes (I think this DID work)
now, when the diarrhea came back he is back on Albon again for a few days
also predisone to prevent inflamation. He will get this a few days in a row and then wean him off to whatever does helps him stay firm. he might also be getting flagl (sp?) for diarrhea.
I ALWAYS (for many years) fed Lucas prescription Hill's c/d. But the vet said to try Science Siet Sensitive Stomach. (the first ingredient is brewers' rice)
Lucas is in a room alone today to find out what his stool looks like. So we shall see......(he has only been on the sensitive stomach and the pred. since Saturday pm)

I'm so sorry to hear Lucas is back to diarrhea. :(
Debbie, I'm also very sorry to hear CJ has these problems again. :(
Hope the vet can come up with the right treatment for both of them! :)

How is Lucas today, Jen?
I took CJ in last night and the vet put him on pred. also. He said that if he reacts to this - meaning things start firming up - that means he's allergic to something either in the food or the environment and the next step is to do allergy testing to see just what it is he is allergic to.
It does seem odd that your Lucas would all of a sudden develop an allergy like this so maybe he has different issues, but maybe knowing this will help you and your vet in Lucas' diagnosis also.
