So far there hasn't been anyone to show any interest in Boomer.. :( We just found out that the work couple who were looking for a cat had gotten one but are now trying to get rid of it because it bites and is rambunctious:mad:  HELLO?? It's a kitten. They do that:mad:
*deep breaths*
I still have the people at my old job to ask, but most of them are Japanese and a) probably wouldn't want to keep him inside and b) probably wouldn't be allowed to anyway :( I'm not giving up hope though. I still have a little time so hopefully something comes will come up soon.

Keep the faith Missy, someone will turn up for Boomer. Keep your chin up and a positive attitude. I know how very hard this is for you but I'm sure you will find the perfect home for Boomer. (((hugs))) --- Meg

Missy,
I only wish that my house wasn't full. I'd surely take Boomer in. But I've got Tabitha (who is now part of my fur family) and my foster, Parker, who I am hoping PurrsAbound will rehome. If that ever happens and you still haven't found a furrrever home for Boomer, I'd be glad to take in.
Keep the faith Missy. Someone will come through.

Is there any way your mom could fly over and help you bring him over, I respect what you feel is best as far as the trip being hard on him but just a thought.
Maybe he could get a little benadryl before the trip. Or maybe another military family could adopt him???

If we can't find him a home we will pay to have Continental ship him over. That is not the best option at all because he will have to fly by himself, but at least Continental has a climate controlled area for pets and a person there to administer food and/or water if you so choose. The closest place we could have him shipped is Indianapolis which would mean another 2 or 3 hours drive as soon as I arrive, but we would know he'd get there safely. I would love to have him in the states, he'd live with my Mom (sirrahbed) for at least the remainder of our tour here, but I'm so worried about how he'd do on that plane trip :(
I'll keep looking. I have until the middle of September to find him a home or book him as cargo...
The only other option is to turn him over to the adoption center, but I won't even consider it because I know with his skittish nature he'd be there for a loooong time.

I appreciate the offer Gary :) However, if we do manage to get him to the states I want him to stay in the family :)

It's to bad Boomer couldn't have flown home with your mom
before. I'm not sure of the airline (but I could check) , but my
son has flown with his cat Charlie twice. Charlie is 18 yrs old.
Both times he was in a soft carrier under the plane seat. It worked out fine for them. Is this possible for you?

not possible from Japan, unfortunately :(
Paul's Mom will be flying home with me, so between the two of us we should be able to manage baby, cat, and luggage. The office opens in 1.5 hours so I'll call to get the price just in case *gulp*

Sorry, just thinking out loud. I do hope Boomer gets to stay
with his family. :( Of course, flights within the U.S. doesn't really
compare with a flight from overseas. Just though healthwise it
would be safe for Boomer to fly. Good luck with your call.

That door closed with a resounding *BANG*...
I couldn't understand the cargo guy very well, but the basic idea is that there is some sort of embargo going on right now and if we want to ship him it'll be well over a thousand dollars
Time to redouble efforts to find him a home here

I'd check with the military. If they know your military family it might help. Friends came back from being stationed in Germany. They brought back a pet (been within last 6 months) it didnt cost any $1000. Maybe the cargo guy got little confused. I'd keep checking around and making more phone calls.

oh it will be free to take him when we move to our next base- but that leaves a 4 month span of time that he'd be alone here while hubby is deployed. We can't just leave him in the apartment for 4 months and I'd rather not foster him because of his temperament... Sooo it's find him a new home time:( :(

Yes, any other military families that could keep him on a temporary basis, or do you know if Paul will be returning to Japan or the States once his Iraq tour is over? Any military transports back to the U.S. Boomer could hitch a ride on? Have you asked any of Tyler's doctors or nurses if they could take Boomer?

oh no...what did I missed? things didn't work out well with jim and tyler? :(
wishing you a big luck!

I'm still asking around, I didn't even think of asking his docs and nurses!!
Gina- Boomer was a perfect gentleman with Tyler! The problem is that Paul recently found out that he is being deployed for about 4 months. While he is gone I will be flying back to live with my parents so that I don't go crazy all by myself in a foreign country with a tiny baby. Obviously we can't just leave Boomer in our apartment for that long so we came to the decision to find him a new home...

oh- and pets aren't allowed on the military transports unless it is for official purposes such as moving to a new base.:(

How about your vet? They may know of some organizations that can help you out.

Hang in there Missy you still have time for that perfect home to turn up. I know you have so much on your mind right now and really want to resolve the Boomer situation.
I just know that it will turn out the way it's supposed to for everyone to be happy.
{{{HUGS}}} Missy! I know how hard this is for you.

I'd find out just what this embargo thing is all about. Surely
they wouldn't try to take advantage of a military family.

Missy, it's obvious that you are doing everything possible to do what is best for Boomer. Things will all work out in time .... try to remember that! I know it's tough though!
(((hugs)))
