View Full Version : Naughty boy Sid to the Whitecoats!

Saturday, Mr. Sid threw up his first hairball (only a true animal lover would know/remember such things! lol). But it seemed that once he got started, he couldn't stop (food, bile, etc). :(
Sunday, he was more active and his stomach had settled. Today however, he threw up 3 more times. Not to be graphic, but the last go around contained black "string" things. (Strings = scary!) There's no telling what the naughty boy ate! :eek:
We called the vet and we're to drop him off at opening; they'll work him in for Xrays.
Here's hoping that whatever it is requires no medical intervention and will work it's way out on it's own!

Hey Sid, we will have to watch what you eat. Where did you get these stringy things?
Hope your little tummy is ok soon:)

:eek: Stringy things? Oh my, I sure hope they can find out what this is...........what in heavens name did you eat, Sid?
Doesn't sound as though it made your tummy feel very good.

Apparently, the strings are/were "something he just ate" as there was no indication of foreign objects on the Xrays. HOWEVER the Xrays *did* reveal that Sid is quite, *ahm* "full of it." (K'Cee would have gladly given that opinion for FREE! ;) )
Dr. N pushed on Sid's tummy and Sid yeowled reeeeeeally loud. They gave him an enema and are keeping him overnight unless things "work their way out" in between now and closing (15min). One poor vet tech will be delegated the honor of "treasure hunting" through Sid's cookies, just to make sure he didn't eat something else.
As for the throwing up, apparently being *that* backed up caused it. (I've never heard of that. *perplexed*) Poor Sid! :(
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~EDIT~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The vet just called as I was typing this... Sid gets to come home tonight. Wants to talk to Mom in his office... will update more when I know!
That all sounds *purdy gud* - except for the
"Talk to Mom in the office" part.
I think we'll *worry* till we hear an "All Clear".
Be Well, Sid! ;)
I sure hope that Sid is going to be okay. Now I'm worried because you haven't updated us yet.:( My RB Pepper became blocked up before and needed a kitty enema. It didn't take very long and by the time I brought him home he was going. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent your way. Please update us when you can.
Sorry to keep you guys waiting! :(
I fell asleep waiting on mom to show up w/ Sid (thank God my final is over tomorrow!) and when I woke up, it was to one heckuva thunderstorm. (We're having weird weather... rained/lightninged all day today and heard it was suppose to be in the 60s tomorrow...crazy!!) Anyways, on to the important news...
Mr. Sid is A-OK (and feeling tons better/lighter, I'm sure)! The doctor suggested we start feeding MORE of the hairball formula and less of the "normal" food (We free feed both, but the cats prefer the "normal" - actually, Miss Priss K'Cee won't eat anything but the normal.) and, of course, keep close watch on his litterbox habits. Really, there wasn't anything said that I didn't already post. I guess he just wanted to make sure Mom didn't have any questions/concerns.
Sid is back home and back to his old self. Immediately upon his arrival he hunted up his favorite toy and started playing as if nothing had happened. lol He's such a goober!
Thanks for all your prayers, well-wishes, and concerns! It's a happy ending... the *very* best kind! :)
Glad to hear that Sid is OK and home and feeling better now. My Gidget (poor thing, she has been through so much), had to once have a kitty enema. I don't know how true, but they said she was backed up from too much processed food, that her system couldn't handle it. They occassionally get lunchmeat turkey, but not that much and especially now. They also suggested that we put them all on "Senior" food as it apparently has less fat etc., and is better for them. Just a thought anyway!
