well guys I have been eyeballing a ranch for a long time now that I wanted to buy my next Brahman show heifer from ... they have some of the best cattle in the state of texas!... I love their heifers they are just so beautiful and are perfect tributes of the breed ... I have been talking to them and they told me about a 6 month old Heifer they had I went and looked at her and feel in LOVE!!! here is her picture:D

She is beautiful! :D The brandings make me a little sad though. *sigh* :( What do you breed these for? Do you sell them for meat? I'm just curious what you're going to do with Scarletts baby.

She is beautiful! Brahmans are my favorite breed of cow :D We never see them around here... well... last year there was one at the fair... but thats all.
I'm not too good at names.... I would probably name her....Posh(my favorite name for pets :D I wish I could have another pet so I could name it that!)... or...Deni...or... Shay....
Good luck on finding a name!

I must say that branding is my least favorite part of owning cattle!.....but people who know what they are doing NEVER turn just brand and go!...once a calf has been branded you apply a burn med. then vasaline over that twice daily ... the med. soothes it and helps it to heal faster and properly and the vasaline keeps debree out you also wash it each time!!.... I WOULD NEVER sell for meat I breed to better the breed!! I am a ffa memeber and I show with my school it is like showing dogs! I must say that these are the most papered cows you will ever see if you ever go to a show you will see what I mean! these cows are family .... yes we breed but we do it to better the breed that is our goal all ag teachers will tell you this ...... as for Tristin he will be weaned
at 6 month and then I will start training him to show he will be a show bull .... then I will breed him to other Brangas(breed he is he was a embryo transplant)he will not be sold!! :) I hope that I have made sence :)

Congrats on the new addition! I showed a heifer for FFA once, she was a Simbrah named Sydney. I didn't own her, I borrowed her from her breeder. I took care of her and showed her and helped get his name out then when the year was over I returned her to him. I mostly showed goats though, my dad raises and breeds them.
Brahman's are beautiful! We used to have one when I was a kid, his name was Puppy. My grandfather still has a picture up Puppy up in his bedroom.

She's absolutely adorable! Congrats on her :)
Do cows make good pets? I've been interested in rescuing a young heifer or a young steer (don't think I could handle a bull) from auction or something, and having it as a pet. I've always loved Jersey cows, ever since I first saw Norman in "City Slickers". I'd love to get me a baby or young Norman and I've read quite a few bad reviews on cows as pets. Is it possible to have them as a pet, or are they just too dangerous? Is there a breed of cow that's more suitable as a pet? Just curious, I figured you would know since you have show cows :)

Adoremydogs:
yes a cow could make a pet but they require ALOT of time and patients!!!!...it is best to get them when they are 6 month old..that way you have had them since they have been weined and they haven't been on their own to much so they depend on you more...you need to have someone with you that knows what they are doing for the halter breaking and all:D as for sertain breeds all breeds will have one bad apple temperment doesn't depend on the breed all you need to know is weather you want a big, small, medium sized cow ..I hope that I have helped:D

My husband's favorite show cow from his 4-H days was named "Hazel." She was a dairy cow (Holstein), but I still think it is a good name.:)
