I Can't stop crying. She has an enlarged spleen and liver. She is only 7 years young! She is one of the top Search and Rescue dogs in the Western PA area! She has found numerous missing and even drowned victims over the years. She was at the plane crash in Pennsylvania on 9-11.
They are going to do surgery tomorrow to see if they can find out how spread it is or if there is any choice in prolonging the inevitable. I'm still praying they are wrong.
Kathi and Bob had to leave her at Ohio State Veterinary School of Medicine and will be going up on Saturday to visit her.
I know that I am all over the place in my thoughts but I am just in shock! I really thought she had Lyme Disease but this is just a little more than I was ready for. I couldn't even be support for Kathi and Bob since I couldn't stop crying like a baby on the phone.
We have done a lot with Dixie and Jazz and Blaze over the years and it is like losing a family member. I don't know what else to say. Sorry :(

I am so sorry! I was hoping for better news too. Words just seem so empty right now. Please know that you, Jazz and her family will stay in my prayers. It's ok to cry. We all understand.

Even if it IS cancer, she still might survive, right?* We will hope that she feels better, anyway, and that she knows how many people are wishing her well.
*Having no idea of dog cancer survival rates, or what kind of cancer it is or anything like that.

At this point they don't know exactly how long she will have but from the symptoms they are saying possibly 3 months. I hope they are wrong but they really won't know until they open her up and take a closer look at the actual tissue. I am still hoping they are wrong about the diagnosis.
Here is a picture of her. She is the one in the middle. Dixie is on the left and her brother is on the right. Dixie and Blaze were a little over a year when this was taken. Jazz is now a lot whiter in the face.

I'm so sorry.
If words could change the situation, I'd gladly write a book. But all any one can do is pray.
We're all here for you.

Candy:
I'm so sorry for Aunt Jazz, for you, and your friends. I know very well how you all feel having gone through the experience of having my first Golden girl diagnosed with breast cancer. Lets hope that the malignancy has not spread and the vets can do something for the sweet, wonderful Jazz.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Much love from Carina and Alicia.

Candy, I am so stunned and heartbroken. My hands are shaking. I am going to hold onto the hope that the diagnosis/prognosis is still uncertain, and will pray with all my might that this beautiful girl will pull through. I have a 13 year old Labbie friend who fought diabetes, subsequent blindness and liver cancer with excellent, aggressive treatment at Tufts. He is a 5 year survivor and a true inspiration and reason for hope. My love, thoughts and prayers are with Jazz, Jazz's family and with you dear friend. Love, Sandra

Sandra, how nice that you could provide a ray of hope like that.
Candy, I too am so sorry to hear of this diagnosis. We will all pray for the best case scenerio. We've had a few miracles around here lately. Maybe we can hope for one more.

Oh my gosh, the subject itself made me cry :( I am devistated at the possible diagnosis. Sandra, it was nice of you to give some hope to this difficult situation. I have heard such good things about Tufts.
Candy, I will be praying for poor Jazz. She's so young :( It just breaks my heart. I hope, if it is cancer, that it has not metastasized to a point that she can't be treated with aggressive treatments.

Oh Dixie, I came in for a little while and I couldn't believe what I was reading. You can never give up hope that things will turn out O.K. With all that she has been through, Jazz is a fighter and she has a strong will to live. You know we will be saying a prayer for her and thinking positive thoughts and keeping our fingers and paws crossed. She has given so much to so many, I'm sure if there is a way she will fight this as best she can.
