My biggest fear is that Cagney will run out of the gate and get lost but so far it hasn't happened.
Have your dogs ever went missing?

No but I thought she was once...a few months ago I panicked because I couldn't find her..she was under the couch..I even called Brad at work and he was going to come home..but I finally found her. I don't know why to this day why she would not come out unless she thought I was leaving and she had to go in the crate as she was quite young then and still being crate trained.
nope, when Ripley gets out, he is so friendly that we are notified of who has him before we know hes gone, he is known to run into peoples houses to visit  Blair has only ever gotten out once, his being rather dumb made it rather scarey watching him run INTO traffic. the last Misty got out she was 5 months old, she wont go anywhere anymore, she will wander out of the gate occasionaly but at the sound of "mis..." she comes running back lol perky you cant get rid of, we have TRIED to take her for runs, but she wont leave our sides, and Happy has only scraed the heck out of me once, when I was cleaning up after Misty on our way to the park, we were right around the cornor from it(no streets, its a school yard we were at the front of the school) when I looked up Happy was gone, I was scared untill I rounded the ornor and saw she had decided to go on ahead and went to the basketball courts to play with some kids, I usually let her go to the park on her own when we are that close and I have determined its safe, so she assumed she was allowed to head to the park while I cleaned up lol

Nope.
In the 15 years that I've had Murph, he's only escaped through an open gate, without my knowledge, once. I was frantic, when I realized he was missing. Turns out though he's not much of an adventurer, he only got as far as the neighbor's garage. He was only gone about an hour though.
In the 13 years I had Maddie, she got loose twice. Once, she went next door to the neighbor's. This was while I was at work, so I'm not sure how long she'd be exploring the front yard, before she knocked on their door. She wasn't much of an explorer either. Quite amazing actually for Terriers.
Then once while I was staying at Mom's, she got through an unlatched gate, when I put outside to potty. This was later in life when was blind. For some reason I went to check on her earlier then I normally would have and was crazed to find she was gone. She'd only been gone maybe 10 mins though and I caught up with her at the end of block. I think she was looking for me, because she'd toodled down the block, following the sidewalk where I took Murph walking every night. Amazing when you consider she was blind.
Oz and Gull seem to have that homebody Collie instinct, so no close calls at all with them. *knock wood*

Missing for more then a night....no. But years ago, I had a beagle that use to love to escape, when ever she could. She'd go visit the neighbor for the day. I guess the good side was I always knew where she was.
Now just the other night we had an emergency and had to leave at 2am. Somehow Tuffy was left out and when we came home, there he was on the other side of the gate, trying to dig his way back in. Don't know why he just didn't come back in the way he got out.

Nope. We rarely EVER leave our dogs alone long enough for something to happen. When the door opens they don't go out until I say they can so they've never bolted out the door.
We left the gate open once or twice and the only thing that happened was Simba walked out into the front yard and layed in the sun. He's also came and barked at me and "asked" me to follow him, and led me to the open gate.
The girls mostly stay near me and follow me and they have an excellent recall, so anytime they've walked out the door they've come right back.

I feel like a bad mom...once my RB Jewel and her RB sister Muffin escaped together and were gone for three days. Luckily a woman and her husband found them under the car the first night and finally saw our add for missing dogs! I was SO happy to get them back.
Jesse and Sammy have never been gone for more than 15-20 min. though. I guess that makes me feel better..

My dog was a rescue pup when we first got him I was only a baby and he was always getting out of our house, He used to be picked up by the police everytime they got used to him being there and he used to go around with the traffic warden to do his rounds :o He was a real wonderer he didnt want to be in a house at all he was more of an outside dog and we tried so hard to make our garden impossible to escape but he always managed, We think they picked him up as a stray but he was the most trustworthy dog around me and my brothers and sister, he wouldnt harm a fly he was perfect :)

I think the longest Sally has been gone was maybe an hour. She is hard to catch when she goes wandering off...
