Happy 1st Birthday Kiddo!!
Kyra,
I can't believe its been a whole year! I have enjoyed every single day and can't imagine what it would be like without you! From the moment you were born we knew that there was something different about you, You weighed only 3 oz compared to the other 5 half pound pups and you were a third of their size. Every two hours or less we would bottle feed you, you were soo tiny and fragilie, I could cup you in my hand. The vet said that you would catch up eventually so we weren't too worried. I was gone and made it home about a week after you were born and I noticed that when I fed you milk bubbled out your nose, I opened your mouth and was shocked at what I saw! You had a gaping hole in the roof of your mouth (cleft palate), that explained why milk was coming from your nose! Mom called the vet and their only suggestion was that we put you to sleep, they would even do it free of charge. Mom was seriously considering it and said that when she got home from work we would take you in. There was no way that I would let you leave us so soon! The whole day I searched for answers on the internet and met a very nice lady that had successfully raised many cleft palate puppies and they have lived long happy lives. I started emailing her and she encouraged us to keep trying and had a whole website with instructions...and boy am I glad we did!!!!! You have become a heart stealing, crazy little girl!!
I have enjoyed the last year with you more than you could ever know. Heres to many many more happy years together Baby Ky!!!!
Love always,
Ashley
I really debated posting this because I know that I will get crap for deciding to breed Mini. We found all six puppies great homes, they are all spayed/neutered and so is Mini. We definately didn't do it for money but it was just something that my dad thought we needed to do. I tried to tell them of the consequences but they just took it as me being a know-it-all teenager. Sometimes I really regret the decision to breed her but it all worked out in the end.
