My lovely little darling rabbit Bunny, pictured here to the left is being spayed on Thursday. I am doing it for health reason more than anything.
Apparently 50% of female rabbits over the age of 1 yr develope cancer of the uterus. And since she has had a litter of six she is more at risk.
Keep your fingers crossed that she pulls through ok.
Will keep you informed of her progess.:)

Heather, I hope Bunny does just fine! I'll say a prayer for her and hope that everything goes along easily for her. :)

Miss Hoppy says to tell you - "No Big Deal!" Of course, her vet DID say that this was the first time she expected the bunny to wake up and bite her in the middle of the operation. (Hoppy broke her leg as a baby bunny, and has bitten every vet-like person who tried to touch her ever since - they have her on the charts at the vet's office as a "wild bunny" though she has never bitten anyone who wasn't a vet or an employee of a vet facility!) But Hoppy says to tell Bunny that you go for a big sleep, and when you wake up, it feels a little wierd, but you'l be back to hopping around in no time flat!

The "girls" Girl Girl and Boy Boy said to tell her it is a piece of cake. They went through it a couple of weeks ago and are feeling great. And it is true that the love during recovery is GREAT!! :)

Our vet had a great idea you might consider.....
just prior to the operation, when they are ready to use the anesthetic, you wrap Bunny in a towel and HOLD her while the vet gives her the sleeping gas....she'll be calm because you are there and BOTH of you will feel better about it!
Best wishes.
