View Full Version : Thursday #114 - Summer Vacation!

Hey everybody, come on in, the bar is officially open! Since I've been needing so many drinks lately, Richard decided to give me my own key to open the place up. ;)
Since two of our beloved Thursday attendees are on vacation this entire month, I thought the vacation theme would be a good one. I think we'll make Long Island Iced Tea the DOTD. Ice tea is the best in warm weather and the only way to make it better is to add a drop or two of booze. ;)
It's lunch time here, so I think I'll start out with a Stangelville, WI brat (they are way better than Johnsonville) with a bit of sauerkraut (sp?) mustard and just a drop of ketchup. Maybe some cole slaw on the side with a few potato chips with just a homemade lemonade for now. Mmmmm....mm! Oh, and the best lemonade is made by how many PT'ers? ;) :D

ooh ooh Thursdays is open YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! I'd like a DOTD and a brat myself...I just love bratwurst! (oh, and can't forget the CNTs...)
My ex from college got me hooked on WI bratwurst. Can't get those out here though :(
Hey, I was wondering, when did Thursdays open? I'd like to see the first Thursdays thread!

Oh, Debbie, you're making my mouth water with all of that food! Could I have an order of that, and the iced tea? BTW, need a little help straightening this place up?

Good morning! So glad you opened the bar Debbie. Thanks for giving her a key Richard.
I'll take an Iced Tea please and make it strong! No work for me today....:D :D :D
MMM, will take a brat too but hold the 'kraut please. Cabbage gives me.....well, never mind. :D Hey, I've been called a 'brat' before....:D
Yes, the lemonade made by Pet Talkers is the best! Just you wait Debbie!
I'll grab a broom and start sweeping up David.

I'd like an iced tea too, please but leave out the booze and put in a bit of lime juice. Also 4 iced cat nip teas please!
No brats for me. I've had the kitty brats acting up all morning.
I want a big cheese burger and cheese tater tots! :D

*Edit* Is this (http://www.petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27032&highlight=Thursdays) the first ever Thursdays?
Very belated congrats to Richard on his first step to being a blabbermouth ;)
Gosh, I wish I had found you guys way back then...my life

I need a drink as well. One that lets me forget how my foot feels. Actually it's beginning to each under the tape that will not be changed before Friday.
So the drink should contain something against itching;)
P.S. Hope I'm not too much kraut for anybody ;)

Barbara, a few of these LI Iced Teas and you won't feel a thing - including itching!! Careful though because if you're already stumbling along because of the splint, these will only make it worse and we wouldn't want you to fall again. Here, how 'bout if you take a seat on the couch over here. David cleaned all the cherry juice off it already so it's safe to sit on.
DJ, Thursdays started 114 weeks ago. ;) :p
One extra strong tea for Slick, one with no booze but lime added for MOFF, a few scattered lemonades and a coupla CNT's - DONE!:D
It's only about 2:00 pm here, but I'm going to have a LI Iced Tea because it's time to celebrate - they found the leak!!! Woooo hoooo!!!! Terry also got two orders over lunch so he is feeling much much much much better now - whew! :D

:D :D I just read a few pages from the 1st Thursday thread and was struck by several things.... #1, we haven't sobered up much since then have we? :o #2, if anything - we can even be goofier :D #3, we have added a few spectacular regulars that have only doubled the madness and fun (thank you for sticking around Mario). #4, we still manage to check all attitudes at the door YEA US!! :p :D

Aaaww that "tea" is good. I hope I won't stick on the couch.

What's all this.....itching and scratching sticky bums.....  You're right Laurie...we really haven't changed much. :D
So I've been home all morning doing cleaning, etc and Max has been totally velcro kitty. If this is what it means to retire, I can hardly wait!
I'm ready for the big guns....er....I mean a "real" drink. A double slushie for me please. Just think, a week from right now, I'll be in Gini's kitchen.....trying to find the broom.......:D

Hey T&P, thats great news about the motorhome! I have a soft spot in my heart when it comes to car trouble...
I stepped on some cherry goo, anyone got something I can clean my shoe off with?
Thanks for the hugs MOFF, today is really dragging. Probibly because I'd rather be out cruzing in my car in this lovely cloudless weather rather than sit on my butt and work on my secritarial spread...
I brought a keg, anyone want some (I don't think you're old enough, Mario...)

It's great to come to Thursdays when I AM on vacation and I am! :D In honor of Thursdays and PT when I went grocery shopping I had to buy some White Castle burgers (I've NEVER had one before! ) and some cherries - so that's what I've had for lunch for real along with my favorite Diet Snapple Peach Iced Tea - YUMM!
Now I'm going to curl up in the corner and take a nap .... no, Mario, please don't spit cherry pits at me :p

BTW, those two festivas are still at the junkyard near me. The black one has some suspension parts taken off, but the body still looks pretty good. (for a Pa. car)

hi everyone......
I hope everyone had a nice hoiliday...
T&P and Barbara....
I was just watching a National Gepgraphic special about the 'auto club ' in Germany, the ADAC or Yellow Angels.
They drive around in little vans that fix cars on the Autobahn....
THey can fix almost 83% of all roadside.......The vans are mobile tool chests..they have everything to fix a car-computers welders tools......amazing.....
Barbara,
Could the ADAC help you with your bad wheel???
hi Laurie, Redd and DJ....Hi L4M, MOFF, david, Slick......I am having a blast and just working aaround the house.....
Anyone else want a drink??
I felt this thing hit me in the head and I put my hand up and came away with my hand soaked in red.....
yep,
Cherry Juice.

Dang it! Suspension parts is what I NEED right now lol. My rear shocks are totally toast. The front end just got replaced though ;).
And what is "good" as far as the body goes? Has to be better than mine with the mismatched hood and fender lol.
Thanks for the rag, I almost slipped on that cherry juice!

Thanks for the rag, I almost slipped on that cherry juice! DJF, from what I've seen of it from the road, the body has no dents, or rust, no broken glass, and all of the body parts are still on it. There's a second one beside it with the tires off of it, but it looks like the suspension parts are still there. The second one is light blue with a dark blue front end. The one with the good body is all charcoal gray.

Hrm, its like my car split into two! Sigh, I'll never get rid of my "Dorkstiva". I've put way too many miles on the poor girl this summer, two trips to California (over 700 mi in total) and I commute a 60 mi round trip every work day! I've got a few more trips to Cali planned too...
Someone at a party I went to nicknamed her the Little Blue Pill, and my husband has always called his red Ford Curier (sp?) pickup the Little Red Pill. Now we have a red pill and a blue pill...
I wonder what happens if you take them both?
I think tonight, I'm going to take pix of my beast over at my parents so you can see why I am so in love with the thing.
Dang it, I go to the bar and end up talking about my car...
Theres a song in that somewhere :D

Well folks, I'll get greakfast because I have another day at home. We have been told not to go into work again today. Yesterday we were sent home at 10.30 because the G8 protestors base is right beside our office and there was violence overnight, and feelings were obviously still running high.
Dropped hubby off at the airport this morning at 5am, so I have had plenty of time to prepare our breakfast.
Buffet
Back bacon, Streaky bacon (smoked), Cumberland sausage (with mustard) Link sausages (with herbs), Haggis, Black pudding, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Scrambled egg, Fried egg,
Potato scones, Pancakes, Stone baked breads, Fresh waffles, Home reared pork, Local free range eggs, Vine grown tomatoes
and Smoked Scottish salmon.
We also have a chef in the room to make omelettes of your choice.
A la carte
Eggs 'Benedict'
Coddled, poached or softly cooked boiled eggs
Loch Fyne kippers and melted butter
Finnan haddock and poached eggs
Freshly cooked Scottish breakfast
Vegetarian breakfast selection
Poached eggs 'Strathallan'
Waffles with crispy bacon and maple syrup
Beverages
Freshly brewed Colombian coffee
Espresso, Latte Macchiatoor Cappuccino
Fruit and herbal infusions
English breakfast tea, Earl Grey and Darjeeling
Champagne or Bucks Fizz
Bloody and Virgin Mary's
-------------------------------------
If it's good enough for the leaders at Gleneagles, it's good enough for us. ;)
So people, what will you have?

'Morning everybody. :)
Boy Karen, am I glad you don't have to go to work. I know the bombings were in London, but they could have just as easily been closer to you since that's where the "big" 8 are. :(
That's an unbelievable breakfast spread you've got there for us, but somehow I don't feel much like eating....:(
I just don't get it, do these creeps think that these attacks will stop us from coming after them? If they only knew that instead it will make us resolve even more to get them. It's just so sad that there has to be people like that in this world. :(

Yes, I do get around, Richard/Lynne. Someone once had this saying below their signature. Who was that now? Anyway, it's just how I feel. :D
I'm well travelled, well not really. My mind just wanders alot.
Yes, I was a bit down all day yesterday thinking about the London bombings. Very tragic indeed. :(
Gini, you've been in line all night. Here, let me refresh that drink. DONE!

Karen, your hubby walked all the way from London to Killearn?  I checked it out on google maps and I would guess he was pretty tired after that hike and I think he deserves a pitcher of slushies! ;)
(Yee gods that man!) :D :D Struck me as funny. I agree but I hadn't heard it put just like that before. :D
Lynne! So good to have you back!
I'm still full from yesterdays breakfast, so how 'bout some left overs from that for todays breakkie?
It's going to be a hot one here again today and this weekend, so I think I'll pass on the Spanish coffee and go right for the good ol' coke to start me off.
Slick, I sure hope you aren't seriously getting a cold! That would be awful right now! Colds should only come around when you can get time off work for them, not when you're on vacation....and planning the best trip of the year!
Gini, wake up, Slick is trying to give you your drink! Oh oh....I think her eyes are stuck shut by all the cherry juice Mario was dripping on her after she fell asleep. He was just trying to get it in her glass so she'd have something to drink, but I guess he missed. Poor Mario, at least he tried....

We had some difficulties at work yesterday and I ended up at the office for over 12 hours! YIKES! Feel OK this a.m. though because it poured heavily all night long and I slept with the back door open listening to it with three dogs and two of the cats on my bed all snuggly and whispering to each other * we are so easily amused at Glenrose St * Strong coffee with a kicker please while I heat up some of yesterdays maaaaavelous breakfast :D

Hi, gang! It's great to see you here, Lynne! I'll just have a big cup of coffee, and then I'll rustle up some more clean wet rags and continue cleaning this MESS!! We have to run out of cherries SOMETIME!

Glad to see our PTr's from the UK all seem to be okay.
David, the problem with a virtual bar is that you never run out of ANYTHING (Spider Robinson would be jealous....If you've never read any of the Calahan's Cross Time Saloon books, I highly reccomend them, especially if you like your sci fi with a large dose of puns and alcohol)
Just had my cup of coffee, reading about all the car troubles, too bad you're not in the Southern tier of NY, I could help y'all out.

No no no! He didn't have to walk that far. I think that might take some weeks. He just walked a lot within London itself. The airports were all fine, he moved his flight back to allow extra time to get to the airport and he was OK.
I think he would appreciate a pitcher of slushies though! Wouldn't say no myself!
KK - there must be some sport thing on television - you know the super big wide screen version in the back of the bar.
Because Richard has been too slow in serving drinks. Well, he is on vacation, so I will stop complaining and just go make two huge pitchers of slushies for us.
I am just relieved that everyone is alright in our Pet Talk family..........a little difficult to laugh and joke around with these things going on in the world.
Maybe we need to gather these evil folks up together and set them up in their own cyber bar - with all exterior doors locked!
Tubby & Peanut's Mom

Or maybe we should invite them into our cyber bar so they can get a feel for how wonderful life can really be! I can just about guarantee that after a few slushies, they'll forget any silly ideas of bombings - suicide or otherwise! Instead they'll be more worried about Mario and his cherries, just what is in the L & F and why in the world Richard is being so slow in making their next slushie! :D

Richard....continental....? Nope, guess I have to admit I never thought of him in that way either. ;) And the only reason we can talk about him like this is because he's not here to defend himself - bwwwaaaaaa haaaaa haaaaa. <evil grin> :D
I'm ready for my afternoon pitcher of slushies. Anyone want to join me?

Well, I can picture Richard with a tail - but not the tie:D :D
Hey, this is kinda fun - we can talk about Richard and because he is on vacation - he won't be checking on us:p

Reminds me of a few years back when Mayor Karen & Paul left the country on vacation and asked us to behave! Wouldn't know ol' Zipster the Trouble Maker started a thread AMOK AMOK!! Our two temp moderators - Phred and Spencer the Lion - couldn't even keep us under control. Karen & Paul have never left again without being able to check in from whatever remote place they might be :D :D

ASSamblies?? nasty people :p
By the way, a man walked into a carryout in Louisians Circle-K MiniMart and put a $20 bill on the counter and asked for change. When the counter guy opened the drawer the perp pulled a gun demanded all the cash in the drawer. He took the cash and fled, leaving the $20 bill on the counter. He fled with $15 from the drawer. (If someone points a gun at you and gives you money, is a crime committed?)

I've actually been thinking about getting a webcam and setting it up so those who can't come can be there virtually. The only problem is....I should have thought about this 3 months ago! Does anybody know anything about webcams and how to use them? I would need to set it up so others would be able to access a website in order to see the action, wouldn't I? I need to do some research - fast!
If anybody knows anything about any of this, please let me know. If I can pull it off in 3 days, I'll do it!:D
