I am so glad she made it out alive...that is just disgusting and scary that a human has the ability to do such a vile act.

What disgusts me most is that he was out on bail...after he had been CONVICTED of sex crimes against children, and was being charged with another sex crime against children. I say once you are convicted one time, you get no more chances!

Disgusting. I hope the police have learned thier lesson although its very sad that the lesson had to be learned in such a brutal way :(

I hope the girl recovers, although she probibly will bear the scars of this for life

I agree :(

It will be amazing if this poor girl can recover from this ordeal.

It's clear to me that this person is a huge threat to society and should NOT have any chance of seeing the light of day ever again! He should also be castrated...

I'm sure he will get his in prision. No one even in prision likes sex offenders. There will be a day when the guards will just "not be around"...

Wow, what a sad thing for that little girl to have in her heart, now. The thing that bothers me is that her family isn't talking to her about it. That's something she'll need to do before it's too late. :( She's going to need a lot of help with this. Poor girl. I hope the man gets the maximum penalty that the law will allow.

I couldn't believe it when the news reported they had found her. It was unbelievable. I hope she can get through this ordeal without any major battle scars. The poor little thing. My heart goes out to her.

I hope she doesn't have to sit through his trial. I hope someone in prison does her and the rest of society a favor and gets rid of him. I feel awful writing that, but that's how I feel.

Maybe her family doesn't want to push her for details? Just a thought. I'm sure she'll be going through a ton of counseling. I hope her family (what's left of it) goes too so they can all deal with the situation together.

How tragic.

I agree! That judge should have to face the family too!

If that man ever gets out of jail again, he should be beaten down or something! They should cut off his "pride" when he's not subdated! Then he can feel pain!!!!!

Poor little girl, my prayers are sent out to her!

I didn't know the whole history of this man's violent past. I
cannot believe how he's slipped through the system all these
years. His first offence was at age 12, his victim was 5 yrs old.

The laws need to be changed regarding sexual predators. It is unconscionable that he was ever free after all the crimes he had already committed.

I 'm glad to see this here I was getting ready to post it . I didn't know how wide the coverage would be. We have had the Amber alert photo at work since the 1st day.
Shasta is avery lucky girl , I don't know how much longer he would have kept her alive. They do beleive the body they found here in St. Regis area is that of her brother. They just have to wait for ID from the lab.
This poor family now is just Shasta and her dad.
I don't see how this one man could have acted alone to kill 2 adults and one teen boy. Then kiddnap 2 preadolest children. Very bizzare.

I've been following this story, and my GOSH. That guy needs to rot in Hell. Poor little girl. :( I can't imagine the horror she had to face as she watched her brother being raped before her eyes, and as she was raped repeatedly herself. :( Just awful. I can't understand how anyone could rape ANYONE, let alone an innocent, young child. UGH. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to live on this planet. He deserves to get the death penalty. I'm disgusted at the fact that he was allowed to go free after he had already committed so many crimes. Had they kept him in prison, this family and these children would have been safe.

Gosh. :( Poor, poor little girl. :(

I agree Karen. Things like this only prove that we as a society need to change the laws about sex crimes. He should have been locked away from the very begining when he assulted that 5 yr old girl.

I'm convinced that sexual preditors start thier criminal careers at a very young age. Maybe if the justice system wasn't so lenient on sex offenders who are under 18, things like this wouldn't happen nearly as often.

DENVER, COLORADO -- A man accused of raping or beating 10 people in the Denver area, including two 11-year-old girls and their grandmother, confessed Wednesday before a judge who sentenced him to a prison term of more than 1,300 years.

Brent Brents, 36, pleaded guilty to a series of attacks that occurred between October 2004 and Feb. 18 and included sexual assaults on seven women and the two girls.

District Judge Robert Hyatt, who told Brents he caused an "epidemic of fear to the community," ordered the maximum sentence on each of 68 counts, which included sexual assault, attempted murder, kidnapping and burglary.
